  1. Thanks for the info ProLex

Is the same year Supra vvti ? 1994 as I have been offered some Supra mk4 non turbo injectors really cheap and I am on a budget, a very tight one, as work has been very bad, but i love the GS and want it back on the road running right asap

My problem is that cylinder 5 injector seems to not work now and again (more not than is) and it is screwing my emmisions and makes it lumpy

The head gasket went on number 5, I fixed that a while ago, ran brill for a while, now missfiring, and now compression is great and spark all checks out as do the valves etc this injector is causing me grief, i swapped the injector to number 1 cylinder and the fault moved with it so I dont suspect the loom

I seem to be only able to find it stocked by Lexus themselves who want a fortune for an injector, I reckon if I had to change all 6 at their price I may as well scrap the car for bits and get another one, which would be a shame as the car is immaculate and has all the NO2 kit fitted (which i cant afford to run at the moment either LOL)

  2. Hi all

been ages since I have been online, hope everyone is OK

due to work and all sorts of stuff needed doing I haven't had much chance to drive the Lexus for a while, mostly down to being a bit poor, but things are better now so it is on the road again

I now have a missfire, running on sort of 5 and a half cylinders

Number 5 cylinder is def the problem (pull off spark plug lead test)

New plug fitted, still the same

Injector seems poorly and fuel cleaner makes no difference at all

Removed injector and swapped it around missfire moved to the new cylinder so seems almost certain injector is screwed

You don't wanna know what the main stealers want for an injector !!

Has anyone a source for injectors at good price ?

Has anyone any used injectors laying around (maybe having upgraded theirs) ?

Are Supra Mk4 injectors the same ?

Are 1JZ-GTE injectors the same ? as I can get some of them cheap

    Help please

    :crybaby:

  3. I'm after a set of replacement leads for my GS. Are there any aftermarket items available or are they Toyota items only and are Supra items the same?

    Cheers.

Ignition stuff is all the same as Supra, it even has the supra part number under the lexus sticker, but surprisingly the little sticker does add a few ££ to the cost, :whistling:

There are after market lead sets from splitfire and a few others

    I got mine from here

    http://www.vehicle-electrics-online.com/ig...l-products.html

give them a call or drop them an email,,, very helpful people

  4. OK here is a cunning ploy that is more cunning than a cunning plan written by Mr Fox who is professer of cunning at cunning university

(Disclaimer::Half of this below is perfectly legal, the other bit is marginally legal, the other bit is bending the rules) the rest is up to your conscience :shifty:

Set yourself up as a self employed shopping and travel consultant

    Get VAT registered

Claim all the VAT you pay on fuel, repairs, leasing, and running your car for your business needs, in other words going shopping or travelling :hehe:

You spend a few minutes every evening writing your journal on your findings, in the forlorn hope that your self employed book on shopping and travel will one day find a publisher

You will have to charge VAT on any self employed earnings you have, but as there is nothing in the law that says you cannot be employed and self employed at the same time, you can legally do that :duh:

Of course your self employment will make a massive loss, but not all self employed or even major companies make a profit

And you can reclaim all that lovely VAT :whistling:

  5. The other love in my life is Field Archery

I used to practice it aswell back in France, I even created a website for it : www.tircampagne.org

I have been practicing archery from 1993 to 2006 where my involvment in other stuff did not let me enough time for it

My other main activity is a casting agency for car events in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands

We have had a few invites to go and shoot field in France, but not had a chance to get there when a competition was on,,, so far

Our club has German Honorary members and are hoping to get to Nuremburg to shoot their competition next year, as they came to ours last August

If you get down this way come and bring your bow and have a few goes on our practice course

  6. The other love in my life is Field Archery

Great fun and it obviously involves archery but unlike what most peoples idea of archery is, i.e. shooting at big round targets on dead flat ground at set distances, Field Archery involves shooting not in flat fields but in woodlands, uphill, downhill, over rivers, down cliffs

Unlike target archery where the targets are all at set distances, and all nicely marked out, the targets we shoot can range from field mouse size a few yards away to elephants over 140 yards away, and a large part of teh skill is in judging the distance so you get the arrow trajectory right

and we don't shoot at pretty roundel targets we shoot at either 2D pictures or life size rubber animals

They are not real animals and we are not hunters, nor inhumane, it purely simulates the skills of old type archery

Info on my club is at www.toadhollowarchers.org

  7. Maybe a silly question but is your arial coming up OK

Mine was sticking in the down position and although all the lights were on, no sounds from the stereo

Then hit a bump ,,, ariel unsticks,,,,,,, very loud music suddenly,,,, scares the crap out of you

I couldn't work it out for a while as I assumed the arial had gone up when I switched on the radio, as it was always up when i got out of the car

  8. sorry to hear that mate

I pranged mine a while back and did a deal with the insurance company, so always worth haggling with them

I had a ding in the wing, which would have pulled out (as I did later)

A missaligned bumper which I took off and just rehung in the right line

And a broken foglight (which I still haven't replaced)

The nice insurance man gave me nearly £800 in lieu of repairs to go away and be quiet, and I didn't need to spend any cash just a few hours to put it back together in the right places

OK it cost me my no claims, but that had gone anyway with the bloke I hit, allegedly my fault although someone did tell me he accelerated from the kerb as I pulled out but what can you prove

Anyway glad you are OK and seems no one was hurt apart from your pride, I know the feeling :whistling:

  9. Hi

Is yours a Mk 1 GS300 ? if so I don't know if they had limp home mode that early

If it happened very suddenly is there smoke from the exhaust ? blue / white / black or is that normal ?

Was it raining or had the car washed very very recently ?

Have you looked under the bonnet to see if anything has "fallen off" or become disconected ?

Check all the vacuum hoses are on, some of these are hidden on the rear RH side of the engine, and under the inlet manifold looking from the front RH side

Check all the electrical connectors and unplug the connectors and reconnect them (seems like a thousand of the little ****s)

Disconect the negative on the Battery and leave it alone for a few minutes to reset the brain

Reconnect the Battery and try it again and it may have cleared the fault

  10. My son sells 50 pence pieces on Canadian eBay

gets them from the bank when a new edition 50 pence piece comes out, checks them as being good quality, amazing how many types of 50 pence pieces there are issued in a year

sells them for £3.50 + postage to coin collectors in Canada

    He is happy

    They are happy

We think they are bl**dy stupid

They like their collection up to date

    No harm done is there

  11. By being here and asking the question I think you already know the answer to your own question, you just need a bit of convincing to take the plunge and go Jap

If you were really interested in going fast then why haven't you gone the other way in badges and bought a Vauxhall

The VXR will drop either of the Beemer or Lexus dead at traffic lights and being fair isn't a bad car at all, in fact if speed and power is what you want, well why not ? and it will probably out perform the M series or the new Lexus F series in normal humans hands

I know of pocket rocket Corsas that will out accelerate most beemers or Lexus, and go around corners like they are on rails

What you are looking for I believe is adequate power, comfort, and the sort of drive that makes you actually want to get in your car and enjoy driving it

If that is the case, no doubt about it, if you buy the beemer you will be dissapointed and always wondering the "what if" question, and if you buy a Lexus you will be smiling and in smug mode enabled like the rest of us :)

  12. Just checked. It has definately got 4 wires on the two in the engine bay. I would assume the one under the car has 4 too.

    this is wierd

I went and double checked mine in case I was losing it, and even pulled the plug in case it has very very small wires, mine is definatley only a 1 wire sender and 1 wire connector in the loom

suggestions anyone ? is my car made earlier than I thought but registered later as does happen

  13. The reason I was asking is that I am after a couple of Lambda O2 sensors and found this site

They assure me that I need a 4 wire Lambda sensor but mine has a 1 wire and they say that is listed under a Lexus SC300 spec and american specs GS300 had a 4 wire system although they basically had the same engine

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/O2-OXYGEN-S...54206QQtcZphoto

These are so cheap for parts I just feel that I have to give them a try

    What do you think ?

  14. If you commit a crime and run away, should the police give chase or say never mind we will let you escape so that you can do it again ?

Nope if you commit a crime then it is the Polices job to arrest you, and the courts job to try you and convict or acquit you, and if you can run or drive faster then them it does not make you innocent, it just makes you not arrested so you can do it all again

The main problem with Police car chases is that the villain nicks a nice powerful car and the police have to give chase in a rubbish Ford Focus 1.6 diesel, no wonder the damn things crash as they are on the limit, I believe that this tragic crash involved a 4x4 patrol vehicle, great for carrying cones and escaped dogs, crap for high speed chases

The main problem actually in my mind isn't about car chases or crime it is about punishment

They nick a car or commit a crime because they know even if caught, they will be on bail in an hour and a few hours community service, well whooopee do, what a deterent ? not at all

If they were kept in custody in a cell until the trial and a sensible punishment dished out then they would think twice about actually doing the crime

I hear of the rights of the criminal and it makes me sick, Protect the victims, when you commit and are convicted of a crime you should give up those rights as you have been given are taken away

On Police cars in USA they used to have written "To Serve and Protect", now even that has been taken off as being provocative

In the UK the judges are told, don't send them to jail even if they deserve it, we haven't got room, bugga that build more prisons or put them 6 to a cell
