this days push bike will hold value only.
so don't get upset, if you decide to sell at least you will have good memories
oh i have plenty of those.
not many cars i have owned have so many memories without a woman in it.
-
i bought mine about week ago, and dont feel sorry at all.
My dad diseble, so tax sorted
I would say not really bad on fuel, on £30 i did 190 miles, 130 of them motorway miles (but sat in heavy traffic for 3hours), its really nice car, and i dont think i will sell it for while. My car is 9 years old, and i can see people in much expencive and newer cars still giving u that jelous look. I love it.
thats the gutting thing about having to sell it. 7 years old and it still looks new.
And its so much fun to drive.

i know how you's feel the wife sold her car and now she uses the lex and i got my self a cheep escort van for doing the m-way runs when going to work and its handy
we are selling both to get one.
Im considering buying an old mini to rebuild for the wife to use

Think it will get worse with the situation in America with the Lehman bank going under
wont be the first bank i dont think

Yep, its a fact, the IS prices have dropped big time! Im thinking for what Id get for mine, id rather keep it and buy another car without trading in.
What car you going for?
im going for a plain old boring Passat.
the milage i do for work is pushing me that way.
id love to keep my lex but i just cant afford to.
-
i think its the death of second hand car prices altogether mate
On the plus side the car im buying im getting at 2 grand under book.

Well i have been unsuccessful in selling my Lex and had to bite the bullet and trade it in.
2 things that are gutting me at the moment.
1 its goign to go to auction and not going to get the notice it deserves.
2. i was offered £2,500 as a trade in. thats a 3rd of what i paid for it 2 years ago.
Is this the death knell of the IS and its high running costs?

I got something similar a year or so ago. Not as packed as this.
was a pain to get wired in had to get a £20 iso adapter and butcher it to get it working. And i needed the Audioleads double din facia at £20
When it did it worked great. TV, DVD and MP3.
After a week i took it out as the one i had wasnt touch screen and i couldn't change the colour scheme from blue to orange to make it fit in better with the dash lights.
I know its personal opinion but i honestly prefer the look of the standard unit in mine so i stuck with it.
edit: oh and i noted that its an analogue TV tuner not DVB so it wont work in a couple of years time when they switch off the Analogue tv signal.

I had this problem too.
My Headunit wouldnt read any Writeable media. I have even had issues buying genuine cd's that it cant read.
i went for a simple tape adapter and ipod setup since it was the easiest. (strange though it sounds better than CD's)

I used a Speedsafe kit as well..
8 sensors for front and rear, and only cost about £24 inc delivery.. made in the UK as well..
John
I got aa 4 sensor kit from fleabay and it was ***** easy to fit. a tin of paint from Halfords and sprayed them up a treat.
I didn't go for any flashy 8 sensors ( I can see the front of my car didn't need beeps telling me as well) or any display ones as you should be looking at what your doing not at some screen.
the kit I got only beeps when your close so there is not multiple beep filling your car when doing a normal reverse. The hardest thing is making sure all holes are symetrical and in line. I taped 10ps to the bumper and stood back to make sure that it was good. then I scored round them and drilled.
don't go overtly fancy unless you spend a lot of time going backward. I personally think displays and stuff ruin the dash and make the car look tacky.

I bought onw of the double din DVD players and spent an age fitting it as its not got a connector on the end. when it was fitted i hated it. Very basic and ugly sitting in the dash on my is200.
I got rid of it less than a week after buying it because it was bad.
I was more concerned about looks rather than function. but i do know the redio bit was crap.
Saying that mine was not touchscreen and the spec of the ones on eBay look alot better than the one I got.
Give it a try and if like me you hate it then flog it I am sure some boy racer would buy it for his Saxo. ( i made £10 on mine when i sold it on)

I got a no holes cradle bracket for my phone and i now use a uniberdal phone holder fo it. when im not charging my phone i use it to hold the ipod.
its easy to fit and doesnt ruin the dash.
can be used for holding anythign as the cradles attach to the bracket which is attached to the Head uni mounting points

Anyone recommend a garage to carry out a timing belt change on a iS200.
I cant really afford the £300 lexus want for it (its a £45 part FFS)
I live in the Edinburgh area
-
i got my densos from eBay but aparently Pentland Componends can do them.
-
I got mine refurbed back to standard.
a quick polish with a good polish keeps the brake dust from them.
-
I got my 60k service done recently and it was £125 inc parts although i supplied spark plugs andi had a K&N filter they didnt replace(obviously)
I was a bit miffed asi asked them to change my timing belt and they told me that it was a specialist that should attept it.
So i am now looking for a specialist in the Edinburgh area.

black with silver Lexus lettering
silver with black Lexus lettering
Jamie
I have been thinking the same Jamie
I want to just tidy them up, dont want them to stand out
I did mine in black. but would look great with some silver lettering.

its okay managed to find it, nephew had hid it away somewhere! lesson learnt - need to get spare cut asap,
bobski it was the 3 button fob - beleive that is the master key!
Trust me get a Dealer to order a new one £125 for a spare key sounds alot but its there done and alot cheaper than a new ECU 2 keys and Labour to replace a lost key.
and from experiance dont bother fddlign about with keys from eBay either. More hastle than its worth.

I've always thought my IS200 had poor fuel economy as I get about 21mpg driving to and from work, but a good proportion of that is stop, start stuff. Just did a 500 mile motorway run and was pleased to get 402 miles to 62 litres (30mpg). If I'd been travelling at around 65mph, I reckon I could have got another 50-60 miles out of a tank, but as the roads were so clear, I was going a bit faster than that :winky:
Thats about the same as me. I got a good 30MPG after a motorway run and a carefull city drive at the end of it.

Any before and after pics of the wheels that got refurbished?
Callipers looks good ;)
None of the actual alloys them selves. they were not that bad but the touch up job made them look worse.
i finaly found a before and after pic of my car though.

After the agony of my wheel story (here) I have finally got my wheels on the car.
Took the time to paint the calipers as well.
Worth it in the end.
And totaled up to £420 to Buy and refurb with 2 new tyres and 2 nearly new.
Was wanting to lower it but i have very little clearance to put my car into the garage so ill leave it the way it is.

I got one of these. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Rear-Car-Parking...id=p3286.c0.m14
took me a couple of hours to fit and they were perfect.
tape 10p to the bumper where you want them and then mark them before drilling.
the control box connetcs to the reversing light wires.
