  1. I have had my 220d Sport for 6 months now and I absolutely love it.

One little annoyance I have is with the wing mirrors.

I always turn the engine off and then think....flip my wing mirrors in but I then have to turn the ignition back on to do it cos it doesnt do it without ignition on.

Is it possible to program the car to fold in the "big ears" when I lock it....just like I could with a Peugeot hire car I had before I got the Lex.

    Assistance much appreciated.

  2. Gents

I am very surprised you are even having this debate. When I picked up my IS250 Sport the salesman set both of my keyfobs so that both myself and the beloved's keys were recognised when you approach the car. This sets the seat, door mirrors, steering wheel and stored settings in the stereo (fav station, sound settings etc). As you approach the car you can hear the car preparing the driving position in readiness for you. I have never had the need to set it myself however as I remember it was not a difficult task and I think just involved programming your requirements into one of the memory slots (1,2 or 3) by pressing the M button and the desired number simultaneously. Then you have to press the memory button and one of the buttons on the keyfob when the car is in accessory mode (first press of the start button)

You can set the memory on the stereo by assigning your settings to a memory point on the MM system. All extremely useful and as with all good pieces of technology something which just happens that you get used to very quickly. As some of you may recall I had a rear end shunt by some useless :tsktsk: driving too close. I had a Saab 9-3 as a hire car, no memory seats, no upgraded stereo, no Bluetooth, very poor quality, noisy, rattly, poor driving dynamics..........I didn't think a car could be soooo bad! Have I been spoiled forever by the Lex? My point is that the technology works brilliantly in the Lex and makes everything so easy. :D

I have set up the key fobs for myself and the other half which is excellent.

Is it also possible to programme individual mobile phones to connect on Bluetooth.

We both have compatible phones but it only connects to one which is fine if I'm driving but if i'm the passenger and my other halfs phone rings it isnt answered in the car.

Might have to pull out the phonebook sized handbook and have a read!!!!!

  3. I used to have an old shape ST170

It made you drive like a hooligan because you were always chasing the power. The 170 bhp was at 7000rpm.

Wasnt that quick to 60 (8.5 secs) but after that it just kept on going and going without letting up.

I had 135 out of it on a deserted M69 with more to go but decided I liked my licence!!!! :winky: :D :D

  4. Hi and welcome to LOC.

I would be incredibly suprised if you didn't notice any difference! lol

Seriously though, you will find the car a lot bigger to begin with - cant squeeze through gaps, or park in those little spaces anymore.

As Chips said, RWD usually puts you in more risk of the back end of the car slipping out if you are to aggresive on corners!

Oh, and you will have to put up with the much nicer interior, electric this that and the other, all them lights, the comfortable seats, having to find enough MP3 CDs to put in the car, decide which DVDs to leave in the car, and which ones to leave at home.

Sheese. Why'd you do it! lol

I used to drive a Mk2 MR2 so I dont have a problem with the rear wheel drive element.

Looking forward to all the toys!!!!!

Only 2 and a bit weeks to go!!!! Yippee!!!! :D :D :D

  5. Hi everyone

    Just wanted to introduce myself.

Yesterday I ordered a 220d Sport MM which will be delivered on 5th December

Its in Argento Ice with grey interior, would have preferred black interior but that would have been February delivery.

Test drove all the usual suspects, Audi and BMW were both bland and to spec up would have cost lots extra.

Cant wait to get it. :D :D :D

As I'll be doing about 30K per annum I need to invest in a Road Angel or equivalent.

Does anyone else have one they can recommend. Dont particularly want to have to attach it to windscreen with suckers as it just attracts chavs to break in so I mean sitting on top of dashboard

    Any suggestions anyone?

    Rosie

  6. Just ordered my first Lexus 220D Sport MM- I've been driving a Clio up to now, do you think I'll notice a difference?

I want to buy a road angel as I'll be doing 30K miles a year, any suggestions as to which is the best and where to mount it?
