I went from a 200 to 300 and the 300 felt like a completely different car! Over 2 years of ownership never had a single thing go wrong, actually the car never missed a beat. I recently sold it for a bmw ZM Roadster which is quick, but the is300 is no slouch in comparison as it has quite a nice amount of low end torque. Fuel wise I noticed a few mpg difference from the is200 - no big deal. The best thing was the smoothness of the engine, it effortlessly makes good progress without having to work too hard, this meant you can cover huge distances without feeling at all tired. I must admit I miss it a bit. Good luck in your hunt for one.

I've been having the exact same problem with my 2002 is300. I've had the car for a while now and its only just developed the problem. I serviced the car but that didn't cure it. Also tried resetting the ECU, but that hasn't had any effect either. I do quite long journeys 120 odd mile commutes 3 times a week so Battery is pretty much fully charged. May change the spark plugs to see if it makes a difference.

I had my car serviced at woodford (which had really excellent customer service by the way) and was given a manual 250 as a loan car. It was nice but I found the 300 engine better - faster and smoother. I was quite surprised that I wasn't as excited by the 250 as I thought I may have been, I even preferred the manual gearbox of the 200 over the 250. Excellent car but I feel its lost a bit of "x factor", things like the chronograph dash, clear rear lamps, well proportioned standard wheels, compact styling etc. gave it a lot of charm and character. I'm sure the new 250 will grow on me, but i'll like to see the 350 on uk roads ... now that would be tempting.

Yes exhaust looks cool. Adie I am missing the exhaust a bit, liked the power at high revs. Im thinking about gettiing a JIC, but likely to get mine lowered first; eibachs like yours. Glad you like the exhaust though, really nice piece of kit.

Scarface did you manage to get a price for the fitting kit? the rubber on one side of my car is knackered so may need the kit too.

WIM if you have a malicious email attachment in your mailbox (and you havent managed to detect it using a virus checker) then opening the attachement again will re-infect you system, however you should put an email scanner soon as possible to protect against this :)

Theres a good free anti virus program available at http://www.avast.com/eng/free_virus_protectio.html this has a plug in for outlook 2000 too so will detect email viruses. Also a free firewall if you dont have on already (but i think you mentioned you have norton)anyway this is pretty good http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html

Saw and heard a video clip of a JIC magic exhaust on is300.net very nice rumble and looked superb.

Yeah the install is correct (not sure about the extent to which the rubber bead is visible though) but just looks odd as it doesnt blend ... it looks like its bolted on by some 17 year old...

I think black will improve things a little.. i may try getting the stuff suggested in the link or the 3M stuff.

3M weatherban Ribbon sealant - anyone used this product (SCIS340?) seems like it may do the job.

Sylkaflex is a paintable body sealent, also used to bond glass.

i use it all the time

it makes a mess, sticks to everything and takes ages to get off.............but is good, However i wouldnt use it on car paintwork........not if there was a chance i may ever want to remove the said stuck item

I may try calling a glazing company though... or go down to a local bodyshop see if they have any ideas.

I asked Chris and he has some stuff called sycaflex on his... appranetly that stuff is not easy to apply.. so I thought Id give it a miss. I think the main problem is that they have exposed too much beading - basically not a very good install by lexus however, they say they have done a good job and its as it should be. I may just clean up and spray the current beading and re-apply.

The double sided stuff? Yeah could do... so long as there is a consistent seal along the edge. By the way does it matter is water gets through?? it should seep out the bottom ?

Is there something similar I can use that is available on the market?

I need some help with replacing the beading for my trd bodykit. I have a red IS and the grey beading installed by lexus (woodford) looks very naff, especially on a red car. The beading is overlapping/over spilling on the top edge of the skirts etc...

I know that the kit is just held on with bolts so I should be able to refit it myself can anyone suggest something else to seal the edge?? even black beading would be an improvement over grey? Does anyone know where the rubber beading can be purchased - as I could try spryaing it red and then apply it.

You can get this skirt from lexus dealers .. search the site and you will find the part number :)

The car in the avator was my previous IS... haven't got around to updating it (being lazy)

May be I should ask them to do the same and spray the rubber red.

are those side lights a straight replacement on the originals?

Just got the TRD kit fitted to my car (kindly supplied through CS)... looks very good indeed... except for the fact that the grey rubber beading (mould) is very obviously visible!!!!! Spoke to the lexus guy (friendly chap at woodford) who fitted it and he said it was normal and it is fitted correctly. Looking through some of the prictures in the gallery and some cars I have seen, I didnt notice this before.

I later went to reading and saw a black IS in the showroom and noticed that too had visible beading... looks slightly naff. Anyway I think I am going to try and go over it with red feltip to make it less obvious (my car is red).

Is this normal?
