  1. I bought my LS 400 two years ago with an OMVL Dream System, which the previous owner had done at 125000 k

The car has now got 222000 k on it, and has run without any problems, although the LPG injectors were rplaced under a parts warraty as they started to leak (at around 158K) so the new injectors have done over 67K.

Advise you get a flash lube system fitted - costs about 40£ and the flash lube is around £14 a ltr, but this should last you 20K or so.

Only down side is the tank is where the spare wheel goes, so the boot is partially filled up by the spare wheel, but basically my car is a workhorse, 160 mile a day round trip to work and back, so don't really need large boot capacity.

Look on eBay for some conversion deals - the prices are coming down as converters are competing for work - and don't think the most expensive id the best, all in all they do the same job.

    Good luck

  2. hi

my drivers is a bit worn and looks a bit dirty so (me being a perfectionist) im looking around to see what would be the best way round it:

do i take it to the trimmers

do i do it myself using a kit such as buffalo kit

or do i buy seat covers from www.seatcovers.com

Also my seat belt is dirty and doesnt wind back up again - i have rang the dealer and they reckon they can supply the seatbelt with the winding mechanism for £47 - i personally thought this was very cheap but the partsman insisted he was right! - so has anybody ever replaced their seatbelt - if so is it easy ??

any help and opinions will be greatly appreciated

    regards

thanks for your replies guys - i have made my mind up not to go for these quick fix kits - instead it will either be a replacement seat which is around im going to look into retrim options - the thing is if im going to go through the expense and hassle of a re-trim then i would rather reaplace the heated seat elements - dpes anybody know if these are available on their own as replacement parts??

    regards

I took my Lexus to the Furniture Clinic, and they did a Spectrometre analysis of one of the head rests

They matched up the dye colour based upon this with a little tweaking .

I bought a kit for £40 which included the paint , leather prep fluid, alcohol cleaner, top coat finisher, scrubber, cloths, a hobby air brush kit and a canister of "air propellant", plus comprehensive instructions.

This weekend I distmantled my centre armrst which was totally shabby and worn, and refurbished it.

At first I was a little apprehensive, but the result was absolutely brilliant, and the colur match excellent.

I am now going to top up the quntities and refurbish the driver's seat

The colourant / dye is water based, and the airbrush so easy to clean

  3. Hi fellow LOC members

    I have a 95 LS 400 which also has a LPG conversion.

I have just had the starter motor replaced.

When I collected the car from the garage it ran perfect - no issues what so ever.

Later in the day did a journey of around 50 miles but got home in the dark, and suspected something wasn't right.

On investigating the next day in the light, noticed that both exhausts were throwing out a lot of "white exhaust" which had a heavy hydro carbon smell - combination of petrol / oil.

When I took the car for a short test run I noticed the white changed to blue, but a fair amount.

Since this has happened suddenly, and is from both exhaust pipes I've ruled out anything to do with valves.

I've read all the posting about power steering fluid, and check the reservoir and it is at the normal level.

I've also read the postings about running rich can give white / blue smoke.

I've also read an article on the USA site, about a guy who had the starter motor replaced and then had similar symptoms to me, finding that two injectors were faulty

I've read about - breather pipe and oxygen sensor.

It also seems to do this on LPG.

The car has also got flashlube fitted for the LPG, and I've disconnected this, and it still smokes.

Finally I notice a puffing from the exhaust when ticking over, which I didn't notice before this phenomena appered

The garage collected it this morning and hopes to look at it late tomorrow.

In the meantime has anyone got anything else to add - all comments appreciated.

  4. I have a faulty n/s/f brake pad wear sensor ( like the wires have parted company with the pickup) I contacted the local toyota dealer as mine is the Celsior and was quoted £47.00 + vat.

Is this about right or can someone do better?

    Cheers,

    Steve

go onto Mtcparts.com in the USA - you may need to e-mail them, they sell them at $15 so I bought 6 4 rear as my MK 2 needed 2 and 2 rear and 2 front spare (these also fit MK3) which was good as I bough a MK 3 whihc needed 2 new brake pad sensors.

I think all in all for the 6 plus postage etc it came to around $75 ie £35 or so

  6. Check the fuses on the junction block on the right near the drivers feet

Check that the 'dome' fuse is OK .....this is in the big fuse box under the bonnet

The power seat ECU is shown as on the floor under the seat.

Memory info is sent to it from the tilt and telescopic ECU shown as under the dash just behind the wheel.

There is also a position sensor on each motor.

Hope this gives you a clue where to start!!!! :duh:

Thanks I'll check it all in the morning when light

    Cheers

does the auto steering work ok if not it has an effect on the seat memory?? are you pressing the break peddle while trying to set the seat memory up if so "don't" because it wont set up?? are you turning the ignition on full without starting the engine if not you cant set the memory up.

im new to the Lexus even though im a mechanic and the electrical thing are tricky but im getting there

    Hi

Thanks for the response, the auto steering works fine, like all the other electrics, only the memory isn't.

Also doing exactly what you say regarding setting the seat positiins etc

    Alan

  7. you have the 2 buttons and the set on the drivers door,

set the seat for driving position and mirrors/ steering wheel,

press the set button and hold then button 1 keep held till you hear a beep to confirm its stored,

now do the same with button 2 but obviously for exiting the car,

ignition has to be on but engine not started

    Thanks,

However I know how to set them, the point is it won't do it, it doesn't bleep

    Alan
