  1. Hi guys thought i would start a post with the build i am now planning to do, I have now got my Amp bypass lead that i got from CCS on here thanks for that, and also the fascia.

Now i need to put the best bits in Below i have been looking at this head unit. it has the orange LED which goes with the other dash leds which is good and also has the Bluetooth option so i wont be getting 3 points for using my phone.

if you can think of anymore head unit that will do the same trink then list them here.

also we have covered the speakers on another post on here.

Also i have been looking at these speed camera detectors, has anyone got one installed and where have they put it? anywhere special? any photos would be good.

  2. Thanks very much for that post and thank you for sharing the research you have found, another thing i am sure i have speakers in the rear doors i will check when i get home though to make sure.

another thing i think you are right to go for the component speakers they will sound a lot better and the price is not too different, i am looking to start my build in the next two months and i will also post pictures and will be asking for people's help. when i get home i will link the final build equipment i am going to put in.

  3. [i would guess that the longest part of the lead is a standard off the shelf iso extension lead and the short section you circled is an off the shelf iso-->bare wire lead that the guy is then fitting the white nylon connector too.

also referring to something way back in this thread about using the 2/3 ohm speakers in my experience as a tv enginneer you are better off going over the impeadance level rather than under i.e using 8 ohm speakers on a 4ohm recommended amp would be healthier for the amp than using a 2 ohm speaker.i would connect the 2 and 3 ohm speakers in series either side to give five ohms either side.

Hi, Have just read your post and would like to confirm that the lead we have made up runs the rear tweeter woofer setup in series giving 6 ohms load on each rear channel and sounding quite nice on the car we fitted it to.

Finally got a pic of the lead too see below

We have terminated the electric aerial feed in a crimp connector that plugs straight on to the original lead and although we soldered the lighting wire we used, on the leads for sale we have fitted a scotchlock onto it to be joined onto the original wiring with no cutting required.

    Cheers,

    J.

Sorry getting late, what is this cable for? is it the same one as from eBay for amp by pass or is it the S series cable?

and if it is the amp by pass one could you make them cheaper than eBay?

  4. 22,

I work for a small company in Peterborough called Newsco Software (Most Newspaper Wholesalers use it) i am the technical support engineer there. Not bad i suppose but been working in computers since i left college when i was 18 and think i want to start doing something new.

Had my Lexus IS200 since Feb last year. awesome bit of kit

  5. I have IS200 S can I use this cable or is different one I need.

you would be best to PM Fargo he will know all about the cable he made. think it will be the same if its got sat nav

My bad sorry about that, shows how much i know, I still need to check on mine if i have the external amp. I am sure i have as it is a Lexus IS200SE. Just dont fancy spending that much on that cable,

  6. Thanks very much for that, i spoke to my mate last night and he drove the car round the block a few times, bit dangerous i suppose but hey, its a quiet place and nothing happened. i have asked if he could give it a run like this every 2 to 3 weeks just round the block (about 2 miles in total) would this be ok or would you say it is best to leave it and not run it, he has already said that the Battery is knackered so i will need a new one of them i think. its another 5 months before i am back, cant wait though want to get back in the lexus.

  7. as for the heat i can make sure they leave it running at a certain rpm. this will make sure there is enough heat going through the exhaust as for the brakes i may have a problem there, i am unable to have the car on the road because i dont have it taxed mot or insured. and for me to do that would mean i would have to sell it anyway. coz whilst i am away i cant afford to pay for that aswell

  8. So how often did you move it then, i have asked my mate to move it once a month just up and down the drive a few times and to leave it running to let all the engine parts move around as they should. Are you going to get yours serviced before you start driving it again?

How long till you can drive it again?

How much are 4 axle stands then i am sure my mate could do that but would it be safe for it to stand on them for another 5 months?

Another thing i might be able to get it sat on grass would that make a difference or not to the tyres.

Also inside after 4 months it seems the same apparently inside doesnt smell at all. and it doesnt seem to be damp it has been run once a month for the 4 months

  9. well i am not going to be back with it until August, so still another 5 months or so away. i mean the best i can do is keep it moving up and down every so often, dont know how often though

once a week? once a month?

there is no way i can get it off the ground on my drive not whilst i am here anyway. so i will have to find something that my mate can do back at home.
