  1. That's interesting. I just press the door button and walk away when I'm locking the car. I know when it's locked as the mirrors fold or I think it's locked?

I never use the bleeper, even to open the boot, it's permanently in my pocket. Do your mirrors fold when you lock the car and retract when it's opened? My wife can't open the car door or boot unless I'm within in a few feet.

Something sounds amiss with yours but I'll see how near I have to get to mine before someone else can open it.

    Hi Exiled.

Off topic I know, but have you set up the door mirrors to fold/unfold on lock/unlock?

If so how did you do it?

    Thanks,

  2. Have a look at the instructions front and rear bumpers removal ,drilling etc, rear seat removal, boot trim removal , seat well trim removal .Cabin trim removal Partial dash dismantle and drilling .speedo removal Loom cutting and modifying .Looks to me like £200 plus for labour alone to have this carried out !

glad I have my rear camera!! fitted.Ithink it is a much better option .

Slightly off topic, but why are only 2 front parking sensors fitted on the SEL as standard?

Can the other 2 be added easily, ie does the wiring exist?

    Cheers.

you dont need anymore as the are a wide spread sensor if you know what i mean.

    No. I don't agree.

They only sense on the corners.

  4. Hi,

Been driving my IS300 Sat Nav since new, for 5 years now and was wondering should I upgrade (if it actually is an upgrade) to a 'new' IS250 SE-L.

I use the car every day, all year long and do about 150 miles a day.

Is the new car a big difference, should I go for it?

Does it suffer with straight line stability at speed and inner tyre wear like the IS200/300 has done, or has this been all storted by Lexus?

    Is the auto box good?

    Anything else I should know??

By the way, I notice that a new feature on the 'new' IS250 SE-L is that the door mirrors automatically fold-in at the push of a button on the driver door handle when standing outside the car, cool :shifty:

    Hi there,

I traded in my IS300 (no SatNav) for my 1 year old IS250 SEL in February.

"Upgrade" is the correct term because IMO you get a more refined motor with no real noticeable difference in performance, and better straight line stability.

I miss the IS300 though as it did have a sportier feel, and there seemed to be a greater sense of urgency and response when accelerating hard. A lovely, lovely car.

My biggest regret is actually trading it in. I should have sold it on privately, or kept it. The trade in was pants!

I bought new 18"Hoshi alloys from various sellers on eBay and shod them with Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, the same tyres as originally fitted, and would say that the ride feels firmer and the handling better with no difference in road noise.

You won't see any inner tyre wear. The original tyres for mine have done 13K and have at the very least that left in them.

So if you want more space, toys and luxury go for it. But avoid the trade in if you can, and just keep it if you can afford it.

    Cheers and Good Luck.

  5. Hi everyone.

I'm planning purchasing a 'Road Angel Professional Connected' speed camera detector.

    http://www.road-angel.co.uk/road_angel_pro...l_connected.asp

Can anyone tell me if the windscreen of the IS250 SEL (2008) is UV protected as the manufacturers say this may interfere with the GPS signal. Also is the heating element for the wipers likely to interfere with the GPS or Laser detector?

I could downgrade to the model without the laser head, but I'm not to keen on the option of an externally mounted GPS antenna.

Hope you can help with info.

    Cheers.

I use a Road Angel in my Lexus without problem. I have the 9000 model which also has navigation or just camera mode and also has auto update, as my other car, a Volvo C30, doesnt have Sat Nav. Interestingly, it sometimes takes quite a long time in the Volvo to pick up a signal.

I beleive the Road Angel has the most up to date camera database and because of the auto updates you dont have to worry about pluggting into your PC.

Finally the heated elements at the base of the screen should cause no problem at all, as far as I'm aware only cars with UV reflecting glass have a problem, which I dont beleive Lexus use. The only issue with the Road Angel is that at times it can be a little tempremental and if driving through an area with possible multiple hazards in the same location the unit can go into information overload with a barrage of warning repeated over and over again.

    Regards

    Keith

Cheers Keith. That certainly helps with my concerns about an external antenna etc. And thanks to everyone for their suggestions and input so far.

Anyway, the plot thickens. I phoned Road Angel today hoping they might convince me whether to buy or not.

To put every one a bit more in the picture regarding my location in the Far, Far North my nearest Gatso is about 150 miles South of me (Yeah the joys of living in the sticks). The downside to this, is that my sworn enemy is the Mobile Laser b**t*rds!

Now, Road Angel reckon that I should go for the slightly cheaper by £35, Road Angel Professional Connected without the Laser detector, or, the even more slightly cheaper by another £45, Road Angel Professional which is not connected via a SIM and no Laser detector.

Confused? So was I, but here's the sting."You should have one of these as well":

    http://www.road-angel.co.uk/laser_star.asp

Now if I didn't travel deep South to Central Scotland quite frequently, I might have had one of these and not bother with the Camera detector at all.

  6. Yes, I see your point and the Microfuzion is undoubtebly good.

The feature I was willing to pay that bit (?) extra for was the instant updates via the Road Angel's SIM card. Other user's spotting a mobile camera record the location with a single push on the remote control button. This updates the database and users device via the SIM card.

However, your views are sound and very helpful mate.

  8. Well that's me sorted.

Two Oxygen sensors and ECU replaced.

That's got rid of the CHECK VSC, Traction control and Engine management warnings.Absolutely no difference to engine perfromance, and where the Vehicle Stability bit fits in...in God only knows!

  9. Hi. This is my first post in the IS250 section. Changed from an IS300 to my IS250 SE-L '08 plate in February.

Anyway, I got the CHECK VSC warning up yesterday when I was about 150 miles away from home :crybaby: and called Lexus Edinburgh where I bought the car, to find out what it meant. They said to call the RAC and not to continue driving.

I looked at the handbook and as the warning appears to be for Vehicle Stability only, and as it was inconvenient anyway. I decided to drive home (carefully).

There was absolutely no difference to the engine performance.

So this morning after reading some posts on the LOC I'm wondering, do I call the RAC? or chance waiting until I'm down near a dealership?? The nearest being Aberdeen (200 miles). Edinburgh/Glasgow are about 280 miles away.

Must say this forum is a great source of information and I'm sure that some of the regulars out there can give me some good advice.

  10. The nearside dipped headlamp has stopped working on the IS300. The drivers side is OK.

Lexus are quoting £204 for a replacement HID bulb! :crybaby:

I managed to get the protective cover off the back of the unit and disconnect the power feed. How do I get the old bulb out and are there any checks I can do.

I've managed to source a cheaper bulb for about £65 but they need to know whether the bulb is a D2S or D2R.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

  11. Hi,

I've always use the auto on/off feature for my lights but just recently they've been coming on in daylight. I guess it's probably the sensor on the dashboard that's faulty.

    Anyone had similar problems?

If it is the sensor how easy/hard is it to replace ?

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Well guys, came down to London last Thursday and got my IS300. Strathcaron Blue with full black leather,2003,42K miles with FSH and mint condition.

Drove the 650 miles back North in a leisurely 9 1/2 hours on Sunday (wifey with me) and loved every single minute.

I'm soooooo glad I went for this. The car goes like a dream.

Thanks everyone for their help in pointing me in the right direction. :D

  13. The reason I was asking was that Lexus Southend have an Is300 advertised as Montose Blue (CF52HGN)but I thought it was too light. It is also states it has Sat Nav but I can't see it in the photo.

I reckon they must be describing the wrong car.

I've asked them to call me to confirm twice but they haven't bothered.
