Advice please - I've seen an 02 LS 4.3 engine which I am tempted by but don't really need to change my car at all.

My wife has an IS200 which isn't nice on fuel consumption but is a fabulous car.

Would I need to tow a fuel truck behind me - most of my driving is around Merseyside so mainly city driving.

The other day I tried the cruise control for the first time in the car & when switching it off I got a the engine warning light come on in the instrument cluster.

The car still drove completely fine with no concerns.

When I reset the ECU by pulling fuses the light went off & I had no further problems.

I need to try and replicate the fault over the next few days.

Without going to a garage and getting a diagnostic unit plugged in, does anyone have an idea of the source of the problem?

The user handbook seems to suggest a problem with the electronic throttle control.

A further question is can anyone suggest a good independant garage on the Wirral - there is an independant Lexus one in Heswall - Glynmar - anyone help me on this?

My wife has just picked up an 02 IS200 SE auto (78000 miles) as her car - this is the first time in years we haven't bought a new car - it was an urgent issue as she has developed a partial paralysis (at 36!!) and we needed an automatic with electric seats.

Anyway the car is a cracker & I want to keep it for good - she can have my Mazda 6 MPS if her leg recovers.

My questions are what do I need to do with it now to make it last?

It has been well serviced (a mix of Lexus dealers and local garages) and has had new spark plugs at 60000 miles and a recent oil, oil filter and air filter change.

Do you lot suggest transmission and / or diff oil changes?

How about timing belts , brake fluid etc etc.
