  1. hows things der matey just get a rocker cover gasket and change it yourself its a good few 10 bolts but its easy keep the area clean and dont let any dirt and water go into the head use a small bit of sealer and the new gasket or if ya want just put engine sealer and ur old gasket :shifty:

as to the guys 1st post he is not 100% on things like this, so i would have to say dont try and do this your self, take it some where to get done it will not cost to much as long as you have the parts :) you could all ways come down to me in gravesend and i will do it for you if you like, im happy to help if i can :D

  2. can i ask whats the price tag for the IS-F

Hi Marcus, long time no see

Price for the IS-F is approx £50K

I like the wald kit, but not the rear splitter as it is, needs to be colour coded.

50K hmm i do like the look of the IS-F but ..........wait for it........if i had cash like that to put into a car, (you are not going to like me for saying this) i think i would go with the M5 there is one round by me, what can i say.....all you think is WOW thats nice,

P.S the IS-F needs this kit, if you ask me they should give you the opt to have this fitted before you pick it up :),

  3. Had my renewal from directline today, and they want 868 quid. last yr i only paid 750 ish. I rang them to query it, and the only explanation they could give was that my areas rating has gone up. Bl**dy rip off. Only way I can get it lower is by having a voluntary excess of 350. which totals 700quid if I have a bump. Cant find any cheaper, so looks like Im another motorist that has to just bend over and get bummed by the system. Ok Im only 23, but I havn't got younger.grrr

Im tamping. I wouldn't be surprised that labour has countered cancelling the tax rise with screwing us on insurance. For the first time, I can see a future with no cars and in 50 years my grand kids will sit around me and Il tell them about the olden days wen I was young, when we had brilliant things called cars., that ran on petrol that you could drive yourself.

    Sorry, rant over

    Gazza

thats bad put up over £100 i'm paying 368 fully comp i'm 28 and have my 25 year old wife as a named driver and thats with a 150 excess!

thats a good price, can i ask who's that with ?

thats with direct choice mate it was the best i could get!i'm a mechanic working for toyota and the wife is a traffic cop.

i live in penicuik as well.

    yea traffic cop helps lol

  4. To be honest its not the absolute value im so peeved about, its the rise for no reason. As far as I know my valley hasn't turned into south central detroit in the last year. So god knows where they get they're figures from.

By the sounds of it Im lucky where I live then.lol

That's actually a good point, London gets worse every year and yet my premium still dropped by over £100. That makes no sense, unless the sheep have turned to car crime.......... :P

    (Sorry cheap shot :tomato::lol: )

London, is a big place with lots of cars to pick from so the % of your car geting nicked is low as there are so many, thats why, but where he is, theres no one around, so if you was looking for an IS to nick where would you get it from some where there is 10,000 car driveing around, or some where where there is only 50 car and no one to see or hear you take ??

  6. Thanks Barrie, thats good to know.

@ Gord and Marcus, After reading about other peoples problems with the V-pro and certainly the starting issue, I too am begining to think the best and final solution would be to change it. I might give Pete at Thor a ring, see what prices they are doing.

    Hi mate,

I did buy a HKS V-Pro for my V8 setup, but then i sold it on, i got put/off as i know of only 1 or 2 place's who can map it 1 being TDI and the 2nd one being some 500 miles away. so now when the time comes to have the ECU fitted im takeing it to Thor as well to have the Links-Plus ECU as i have talked to roger about it.

and from what i have been told, its alot better than the V-Pro .........go have a look on thor website Ad

  7. why do project cars (and projects on cars) always take at least 4 times as long

and are 10x more complicated than originally envisaged ?

well its like this when you start to think about doing something to your car, and then start the work, you then do things to your car that you had not planed to do, so then it takes longer and more cash, i have done alot to my IS that i had not planed on doing when i 1st started the project.

Exactly. I understand completely mate as it has been the same for me and all the extra bits (electrontics/I.C.E related)

that I have done to my car. I hope you understand I wasn't having a pop, just merely being ironic related to my own experience at modifying my car, and my empathy with you for all the hard work/head scratching that people won't really

know about when they see your car as a finished article.

Hi mate, yea i know you was not haveing a pop :D hope you dont think i was..... lol

  8. why do project cars (and projects on cars) always take at least 4 times as long

its only taken me this long as i have not had the cash, for someone who has the cash sitting there, you could well have this done in 2 - 3 months, where it has taken me 20 but then i am turboing this as well, it would have been done months ago if did not have to make a turbo setup for it...

  9. No, he means the other guy is uprgrading to the V160 so he's given Marcus the bits from the R154 to finish off Marcus's gearbox.

like he says Ellz, the guy has gone for the V160 as he has put V8 in his supra, and i think his setup when done will be somewhere around the 800BHP.

I have had the R154 before i got the V8 lol but as time went on i was thinking of useing the auto box that came with the V8 to save some time lol, but then i started to think about it, the auto box can only take around 300BHP and with that. thats no much good to me as i will be running more than that, so im going to stick with the R154 Box, like i said i have just got hold of a flywheel and Quarter master Twin plate clutch and Bearing assembly of that guy :D its come all the way from NZ

  10. over the past week i have been looking at flywheels and clutches & hydraulic bearing assemblies,

I got a PM of one of the members on the V8 site that i go on, that was useing the same gearbox as me (R154) but he is now going to use the V160 (think he said) and he ask me if i would like to buy all the parts he has :) so i have now got all the bits comeing from him, flywheel + Quarter master Twin plate clutch and Bearing assembly :D

  11. well what can i say .....:D 1 hell of a fight... Joe got put down in the 1st round and then came back to beat Roy up, with a nice big cut over the left eye, WOW what a fight, from 2nd round on joe was playing with him all the way :D with the speed of his hands roy was no where to be seen.........went 12 rounds Joe won 118 to roys 109 dam good fight

  12. Marcus what rad you using ? i was looking at using a supra one ?

the one i ended up geting was for a honda, but it was a custom made for a honda, but it was the size i was looking for so i got it, and at the price it was up for i could not pass it up :)

Coolio, i'm thinking i might try and use the standard IS rad as i will be making a air scoop directing flow straight over the intercooler and the radiator and then out of the bonnet, hopefully if this is efficient enough a smaller lighter rad might be possible.

Do you know what turboooos you going for ?

yea i was going to use the IS rad but i needed one with a biger core, as i think the IS core is only 25/30mm where the one i have now is 50mm

turbo, im useing is T3/T4.....good for about 400,BHP so it should work well :)

  13. Heard on the radio that it IS being disputed over engine issues!?!?!?

Apparently when they rebuilt Lewis' engine (for the two race rule) they added 'too much' to it, effectively having a 'new' engine in there, so they are saying he could lose it all on a technicality

Just read this on another forum i go on... can anyone confirm?

i dont think anything will come of this...............for one how do you put to much back! as the engine can only have so many parts to make an engine, my understanding they can replace any part on the engine ( for safety of the driver) but not the engine itself

I think if the FIA take anything away from him now, that would be the end of FIA
