  1. I have a bloody annoying thud coming from the rear of my 04 IS Ltd Ed but only when i turn right. A local Toyota dealer got it on the ramps and inspected the rear diff and suspension but could find nothing. The car is 100% standard with 64K miles.. Its driving me mad. Nothing seems to be loose or have any play in it. The noise sounds like its coming from O/S/R/R but close to the transmission tunnel. Any ideas from anyone?

    Cheers guys

  2. im working on an Exit strategy at the moment, looking for work in Civil Engineering, or Mechanical engineering

    Hi Mat

I am in the AAC in Germany. In fact i am the RCMO for my regiment. Basically you are being lied to mate. Give me a call on (Mil) 948 73 2601 and I will give you the low down. Basically your line manager cannot turn down a request for posting.

Give me a call and we will chat.

  3. Hi There

I bought my 2004 200 LE 12 months ago. I changed both fronts as they were worn away on the inside edges the same week I bought it. The car had done 27000 miles. I have since done 10000 miles and am now changing all 4. The fronts are completely shot on the inside again, and the rears have also gone on the inside edges, this is despite having 4 wheel alignment at AutoTest in Norwich when I bought it. Unfortunately I live in Germany and therefore it is a little harder for me to get to Dr Toni.

It s a shame as it is a superb car (better than my 57 plate 118dSE BMW!) I just wish that this problem would get sorted, it is probably making the fuel consumption worse as well.

  4. Hi there

Just a quick one. I returned from Germany a few years ago and kept my German plate on my Motorbike for nearly a year. I was insured through Allianz (german company) then changed to a UK company using my chassis number stating that I was in the process of re-registering. I never even got a second glance.

Do these same rules apply to the Channel Isles/Isle of Man/Northern Ireland? this could also be a loop hole.

I am in the Army and have served in Iraq (twice) and Afghanistan, and believe me the Taxpayers pound isnt being spent there.

To cap it off whilst getting in pitched fire fights with insurgents in Baghdad I was still paying Council tax and rent on my Army house.

Whilst it turns my stomach to see what these pathetic excuses for politicians are doing to my country, I am slightly smiling when I remember all those pinko subversive communists cheering and clapping in 97 when Tony B Liar came to the throne.

I bet they are coughing on their muesli now.

Sorry to say it guys but I am off to Australia for 3 weeks in August to visit my family, and as the old Army saying goes "Time spent on Recce is seldom wasted!"

If this was France every motorway in the country would be blockaded, but we, the British will only moan and then take it! just look at the price of fuel now!

Sorry to add to the depressing nature of this thread, but I still love my 200 LE, good luck to everyone defecting to BMW.

Finally, the average fine for griving with no insurance is £ 80.00. ummmm makes you think doesnt it! at least child benefit is still getting through to Warsaw any way.

    Cheers fellas

  5. I've been looking recently at maybe swapping for a diesel but the IS200 has set the bar very high on what i want out of my next car and to be perfectly honest if it works out that i dont need a diesel after all i know for a fact that my IS will be staying with me for a good few years .... well until i can afford the new one :whistling:

I know that MPG isnt great on an IS but that is about it!! Everything else is top nitch and if your buying a £4k IS then you wont need to go to the main dealer for servicing and so you will find if you shop around the servicing costs are actually reasonable. The only big hit on cost each year is tax as the IS isnt exactly green.

If you really are concerned about the MPG then a diesel it will have to be and for £4k you'll be looking at high mileage older shape A4 or Passat which personally i just couldnt go for. The newer shape then maybe!

I hope you end up getting an IS as you wont regret it.

    Hi there,

Just to give you an idea how good these cars are, I resently bought my wife a BMW 118dSE, fantastic I hear you say. No is the answer, she drove it once and went back to our IS 200 LE, I am now driving around in a bloody 118. To cap it all off the BM is 4 months old and has been back to the dealer 3 times for faults, The IS just keeps going. Yes it can be a little juicy, but if you get the chance to drive one turn the stereo off and listen, no creaks, no annoying clicks just a lovely 6 cylinder engine purr. The IS really is a quality car. The dealers (whilst very good) do tend to charge a helluva lot for servicing though. I live in Germany and use my local Toyota dealer who is very good.

Hope this helps, remember, dont buy a bloody 1 Series, they are rubbish.

  6. Im just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Automatic Headlight Alignment??

A warning light has just come on my dash so I had a look into it. The headlights turn on, then level out as they should. The after a couple of seconds the headlights lift up and they arent pointing as they should be, they are pointing too high which is going to dassle other drivers.

    Any one help?????

Hi there, I have the identical car to you and the problem is your level sensor situated on the rear axle on the left. The price is quite steep, I have been qouted £235 + VAT. I have since got underneath the car and soaked the sensor in WD 40. Then i jacked the car up quite high then dropped it down a couple of times. There is a small arm on the sensor that measures the load on the rear axle and then adjusts the lights. It is possible that the arm is seized and that the WD40 will eventually loosen it up. It seems to have worked for me. Good luck as it is an expensive, and small part. Even independent Lexus dealers were quoting the same price.

    All the best

    Rob.

The LE is by far the best IS.

  7. It's normally down to what tyres you have on, some tyres are better than others at cutting down road noise.

Also dependant on the road surface.

If all else fails turn the music up :D

    Yep i can do that

    Cheers

  8. Hi Y'all

Quicky, has anyone experienced alot of tyre noise on their IS 200? mine has Firestones on the front and Federals on the rear, all TP's are correct, I have a feeling that it may be the Cheap Federals on the rear which are causing the problem (which disappears at about 85-90)

    Cheers

  9. Hi There,

Quick question, I have noticed on my IS 200 (17 inch rims 215/45/17 tyres) that there seems to be a lot of road noise. At first I thought that one of the wheel bearings had gone but all are good (only 27K miles) The tyres on the front are Firestones, whilst the ones at the rear are Federal. I am thinking that it may be the cheap tyres on the rear that could be the culprits. All TP's are ok, noise disappears at about 85-90 mph. Any thoughts?

  10. Hi there everyone,

Just bought a 2004 IS200 LE, superb! a friend of mine bought a new one in 2003 and I liked that one. Before we bought I looked at BMW, Audi and Jag but to be totally honest none of them came close in terms of equipment and build quality. Very happy

    Rob :D
