  1. I tried contacting MMSport at their linked email address email @ mmsport.s5.com to tell them that their $350 package link was broken (you got a $99 item in the paypal shopping cart) and ask if they would ship to europe.

I did not get a response.

On the 6th (3 weeks later) I looked again and noticed that the written email address and the one actually linked did not match. I therefore forwarded my old email to the four written/linked email addresses (except Brandon).

    Today (the 12th) I recieved a response:

    Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2007 22:43:23 -0500

From: Nick Majka <sales at mmsport.s5.com>

    To: <yonzie at gmail.com>

Subject: Re: Fwd: Buying from your web page

    Hello,

Thank you for bringing the broken link to our attention. It has been fixed.

If you are interested in ordering, please be aware that there is about a 3-4 week back order due to recent popularity of our newly released design. You may pay at any time, and I will keep you posted on progress, but I just wanted to make you aware of the current processing time.

    Thank you and regards,

    Nick

Their email addresses continue to be listed as @mmsportonline.com but link to @mmsport.s5.com, but at least the paypal link has been fixed. I guess they might well be somewhat techno-clueless. Their site is made with FrontPage but the email client is Thunderbird...

It worries me slightly that they take almost a full week to reply (not to mention that I mailed the correct domain the first time around but never got a response), but I'll probably get the kit anyway. I am after all studying to become an Electrical Engineer so I should easily be able to fix it even if the product is crap.

They do not write an address on their page but the domain is registered to Nick above, and the address is in Illinois (fits the email time zone). However, It's apparently a home-run business... Google Maps

  2. I drove 534 km on my first tank which was 53L. Matches up pretty good with the advertised 10.3km/L

I have the aircon on always, change gear at 3000rpm usually. Sometimes it gets abused a bit and sometimes I try to be eco-friendly. I've found that driving at city speed (constant speed, flat road) in 5th or 6th gear nets you a 20km/L (57mpg) consumption.

  3. What an idiot, was in sainsbury car park, did not revese out enough turn and hit the Pillar!!!
um... what? I don't understand what you just said...

Anyway, the first accident is always an experience.

Don't look too bad, all you need is a new front fender and some paint.

  4. Spare wheel well. Get a can or two of that inflating stuff instead.

If you are closely attached to your spare, then the floor between the rear wheels seems inviting to me as it would be very easy to "extend" the floor to cover the amps and make them either invisible or showcased behind plexiglass or whatever.

  5. If it's a full-leather interior, cream looks very nice indeed (well-kept obviously.)

If it's the half-leather interior, It mostly looks like cloth seats with leather accents to me... Not that nice.

Also, wrinkles in the leather shows up easier on the cream than on the black. Turned me off the first car I saw (full leather)

  6. Please mind I've only had the car for half a week

I can pretty much only compare it to my old severely modded Pug 206.

The 206 seemed faster in the city. I think it's a combination of the 1G-FE engines heritage (developed in the 70's) and the low gearing of the 6-speed. The gearbox could well have been geared higher. On the motorway, I miss an overdrive gear or something.

On the motorway, from 80 and up the 206 felt like it *wanted* to go faster, not that it had that much power though. The IS200 gives more of a push in the back type of feeling which is very different and it clearly has more power. In this aspect it's a very nice engine.

Oh, and I love the sound of 6 cylinders ^_^ Really adds to that "I'm driving a really nice car" feeling.

Significantly reduced wind and tyre noise, although it could definitely be better. 3.5-4 stars out of 5.

Roadholding ability is pretty good, but it's hard to compare as the pug had a full race suspension and semi-race seats. The second IS200 I tried (I bought the third) was extremely floaty though. A bit like an american luxury car, but still transmitting the bumps in the road. Took half a second to react to steering input. Mine's fine though :)

  7. 7.5 front 8.5 rear and you will not need to modify anything

That sounds like a good idea to me :D

Sounds like a good idea to me too, until I remember that the MOT guys here require same size tires front and rear unless the car was born with different ones... :crybaby: (Yes, they are incredibly restrictive here)

How big of a problem is it getting 8.5's to fit in the front? offset is +45

  8. Thank you ^_^

As promised, a few pics. Sorry if some of them are a bit wide.

Nice rusty tailpipe... Then again, it's about the only rusty thing on it. :hehe:

And a wheel. This is not the worst one.

  9. I finally decided that the IS200 will run on Gram Lights T57-RC wheels (silver), but I can't seem to figure out the size I should get.

The wheel is available in 18", 7.5J and 8.5J.

My goal is obviously to go as large as possible, with as few modifications as possible.

The car will be lowered (TTE coilovers most likely) to about half an inch between the top of the tire and the wheel arch, but the bumpers will stay stock. Similar to sparkystavs.

I just want it to look like they fill out the arches, but need to keep within +/-3% tyre diameter, not to mention the adverse effect on acceleration a larger diameter tyre will have.

I guess I just need someone to tell me what to get :duh:

  10. If you sprain your ankle you limp, right?

It's exactly the same. The car feels something wrong and tries to protect itself.

Sometimes, the error is temporary (for whatever reason) and can just be cleared (it'll stick until then), but most often it'll be a sign of something gone awry.

  11. They attempted *unsuccessfully* to break it in 10 places? I guess that's just proof that most thieves are too stupid to do anything else... From a theft perspective, modern windows are really nice as they pretty much completely disintegrate if a small part breaks.

If you haven't already, you may want to consider applying film to the inside of your windows. It's magnificent at keeping thing out even if it breaks, and if you need to break it out it'll let you easily. In addition, it keeps all the not-very-nice glass shards together.

  12. I just wanna know were to wire the inverters, and will the CCFL be able to come on when i choose the 'dim' setting on the headlights.

I expect you want to replace your parking lights with the angel eye rings, right?

In that case all you need to do is unplug the proper wire from your headlight to disable the parking light, and splice the wires to the inverter into the wiring. Take care to get the polarity correct and make sure to apply heat shrink tubing.

Oh, and please grab some pictures as I'm interested in the same kit ;)

  13. Hi guys.

    I guess I'm new here.

Just yesterday I signed for my "new" Strathcarron Blue IS200 Sport from 1999 with an incredible 61k km (38k miles) on the clock. Inside, it's black alcantara and leather and it literally looks like it just came out of the factory. It's unbelievable. I didn't really want it blue (rather black), but the interior just sucked me in... So, I guess you could say I'm a pretty happy guy :D

The only not so nice thing about it, is a few small chips on the front of the hood, and the wheels - they're pretty well busted. I'm thinking they'll go for winter duty (after getting reconditioned) and something similar to Mr. Singh's iForged Aero will go on next summer (only 18" though)

I'll shoot some pictures when i get the beast into my own hands on friday.

Oh, and you guys seem like a pretty nice bunch, unlike certain other Lexus forums around the net (*cough*my.si*cough*), so I'm looking forward to my stay here ^_^
