  1. Thanks for your replies, i agree that the IS250 is great value for money compared to a 3 series,do they all have run flat tires i hear these are a problem, are

there any 250 Sport owners who can comment on the ride quality ?,interesting to hear the issues with the IS22OD a lad at work has one he seems happy with it

though he did mention a drop in MPG.I think the Lexus is something a little bit different, i do not see many which appeals to me, is their a new IS due out soon

with the current one being 3 years old ?,as for the Bmw i am not sure the superior driving experience, if it is, will be enough to get me past the negatives,i will

have to drive them and see.

    Thanks

  2. Helllo to all

I have an Audi A3 diesel s tronic at the moment but will be looking to change to a saloon petrol car over the next 2/3 months hopefully, because i

need more space and ,well the petrol bits obvious, i want an automatic and have been looking at the IS250SE/IS250SPORT/Bmw320d.There are some

good prices on the IS250SE which in the current climate will keep coming down, however there are not a lot of sport models to be had why is that ?.I do

about 12000 miles annually now i used to do more,so is the Sports ride a lot harsher than the SE as i would like a softer ride than the Audi, the Lexus is

a good looking car, certainly compared to the Bmw which looks in my opinion bland but is otherwise a good car.

    Many thanks for any advice.

  3. Hello to all in Lexus land,

the last time i came on here was looking to get a 250/220d possibly, unfortunately at the time the Lexus was just too much of a stretch financially, so dont

shoot me i now own a Audi A3 2.0TDI SE automatic which i am happy with its 18 months old, drives well and is economical, it even has the paddles, but every time i see the sleek lines of an IS i still want one........ anyway i have decided to get one next, hopefully they will bring a new diesel unit out in the future.I will

keep reading these forums as the others are like engineers conventions!

  4. I am now wanting a used 250se auto, search been delayed due to wifes new car,but i am struggling to find a car due to the residuals been so good

have looked in a price guide book which has a 55 plate with 20,000mls without MM in at £18950 from a dealer if that was the reality i would be very

happy i know its only a guide but their £3-4000 out and used 250 autos are like rocking horse.......so i must keep saving !

    Hi Mack

Iv'e been trying for about 4mths to get a Se auto with MM at a reasonable price :crybaby: . I have been off work (due to an op) so my search has been relentless to no avail.I have just caved in and got a 220se with MM for £20450 with a decent trade on my 307. As you say they are really hard to get hold of and the pre-owned ones were coming in only a few grand under what DD were quoting for a brand newie

Good Luck, coz I'm sure you'll need it :winky:

  6. I have just watched the ''used car roadshow" on ITV4 which featured a SC in red with beige 02 61000mls which was up for £20000 it was nice

to see a Lexus featured for a change, what i found really interesting was the shows buyer ,a 40 something bloke who was driving a Mercedes

before, the other potential cars were a Porsche 911 or a Jaguar XKR but when he saw the SC he was smitten with it having admitted he does

not like any Lexus cars and would not have even considered looking at one, it just proves that some people stick to the same road no matter

what. In the end he found it a better ride than his 500Mercedes so bought it another happy Lexus owner i guess !

  7. I think the reason why Lexus do not feature much on this show is clear, they, Top Gear are in the entertainment business its all about viewing figures period,

what do people want to watch more, a much larger percentage of viewers drive German brands and so this is their target market.

Personally i think the show is good entertainment but poor for information its gone too Big Brother,no i dont watch it.

  8. Lexus has topped the reliability table for the last 4/5 years ,its obvious from the posts on this forum that their is a problem with some of the 220d`s

i got lucky and found the site before my cheque book, as has been said before their was always going to be problems even Lexus cannot achieve

perfection first time, having said that one of my work colleagues owns a new 220d and is delighted with it and he has driven everything ,its unfortunate

for the bad experiences of some but they can always trade it in for the 250 at least on the economy issue.

  9. Thanks for replying Aido and Tango its a great place to share views and pick info up.

I look forward to lexus ownership hopefully problem free.

Could not agree more. I got an IS250 SE Auto with MM in January this year and I still give a little smile to myself when I get in it for the slog to work and the slog home. But a few weeks ago I took it throught the tunnel and zipped through France to the Belgian coast. I came away from the motorways and used a lot of twisty 'b' roads and I have to say the car handled like dream. Now the engine has loosened up a little it shifts like sh*t of a shovel and, unless I imagined it, other drivers seemed to give the car respect as they gave way on narrow roads, there is something about that shape. Go for it.

I agree with you oldmovieguy its a great shape the more i see it the more i want one, rare as well Leeds is a big city, been out on the road

most days this week only noticed five or six.
