  1. Im due for renewal in 3weeks, this is going to be my 3rd year driving my car (Altezza) 1st insured it in my own name fully comp in 2007 for around £850-900 :) Not bad considering ALL mods were declared and i was 21 with 2yrs

My renewal last year cost me £526 fully comp, just me on the policy, hopefully this year i can save a few bob too

yeah, i have. but it's not a stand alone modification, and on the wrong car will look ****. i've been into the JDM and USDM scene for ages now. if you wanna know what sort of thing to look at try blog sites like hellaflush and stanceworks. i've got a drift-alliance style windscreen sticker as well.... which will fit the car a lot more when it's got an aggressive rake and is millimetres off the floor. which i'm sure 99% of people on here will hate, but i'm far from concerned.

Where are u from mate, that car looks very similar to one iv seen a few times in edinburgh

  3. My factory unit showed me Error 3 earlier in the year and i was fed up with the radio, i wanted to listen to my own rubbish. I was pretty set on wantning a 7" touchscreen dvd player but prices were high for a good one. I seen a member on here was selling his install, headunit, wiring harness and fascia so i jumped at it. All i wanted was the headunit, fascia and wiring harness.

When i took my old unit out and tried to fit the new unit i was well confused as from my stock headunit i had 3 connectors sticking out, yet from my new unit i had just 1 big plug and a whole length of wire.

After much headscratching i sifted through the forums from posts way back and eventually i found what i was looking for, help on bypassing the Amp in my car, after a bit of revision it made sense as the amount of wire i had was way to long to stuff behind the headunit, it actually went behind/under the glovebox to the amp... after disconnecting the larger plug from the amp i plugged in the headunit and everything worked but the sound, turns out the wires for the speakers werent there as the previous owner had a custom install in, a trip to TRIX in dunfermline and a few bits of wire later i managed to get it all working and built back up nicely :) I was worried about the sound as some people have apparently killed standard speakers or had sound distortion, however im impressed as mines sounds spot on B)

Heres a pic from my phone of what it looks like now, overall im impressed with the unit and the sound is awesome, can also watch dvds and is iPod and USB compatible, at some point i'll probs get a tv reciever box thingy hooked up aswell, it can also take a reversing camera but i might hook one up on the front somewhere to capture some drift footage :D

  4. LOL @ thread revival...does anyone know where i can get a lead for an Altezza, iv tried a lexus one that came with the dvd/cd player i bought but its diffrent, also bought an Autoleads Toyota one (i think the part num was pc2714 or something) ill check when i get home...but this doesnt work either :(

My Cd player is the one that has a minidisk player at the top, cd player at bottom and a tv/jap-nav....hopefully someone can help me.

  5. don't think its a tooth out on the timing issue if so he would notice a drop in performance(you still doing the drifting??)also its every time he hits a bump which would suggest a poor connection check the wiring/plug on the crankshaft sensor....might not be plugged in correctly.

Iv stopped drifting the Tez for now, got an omega to crash :) Altezza needs lower ball joints on both sides just now...i fancy harder/stronger bushes all round but spending is on hold for a long time!

I had the car into a garage getting it looked at last thurs, it was all stripped and cleaned then put back together, also had all the wiring checked right back all the way to the ecu but eveything is fine, other than the sensor.. Since then its been a bit better but still dies for a second or 2 when it takes a bump on these lovely roads

How expensive are new sensors for it? Someone said to me around £120 but did say it was a wild guess?

  6. More likely the cambelt is not properly fitted, could be a tooth out making the VTTi adjustment go "out of range".

Car runs absoloutley fine though, just wants to die at times when it takes a bump, timing is spot on..The code i got from the diagnostics related to "crankshaft position sensor"?
