Ive had the speedo cluster out a couple of times before and never noticed it behind there. So I'll try the kick panels first. what would it look like?

Probably more to do with a faulty, or poorly fitted, speed convertor seeing as you have an Altezza.

Where would I find the speed convertor so I could check it out and would you know how to test it. Would it just be a set resistance?

I have a problem with my speedo, it's only working every now and then. One minute it's working fine then it drops off to zero(usually approaching a speed camera). Not sure where the speedo pick up point is located, Is it on the gearbox? Need to sort this quite soon as my MOT is on the way and russian roulette with the cameras is not doing my nerves any good.

A guy on E-bay is selling blank lexus keys, A pair for about £13. Not to sure where to have them cut or the cost. It might work out cheaper getting a new key from a dealer.

Cheers Fargo any help would be great, especially with the ac cluster. Will try and put some pics up the weekend. The green looks great, do you think red would work the same, It would pick up the red lights on my stereo .

I've had the unit to bits scratched my head for a bit then carefully stuck it back in the car so a point in the right direction would be a godsend.

I,m Andy had my Altezza a year and a half now, just ready to start mods. I'm 30 live in Maidstone Kent. No kids but misses due today of all days with our 1st . I work as an Electrician most of the time.

Do the lexus ones come with pocket for second din and how long do they take to order from toyota. Sounds like my autoleads fasica is only fit for the bin when it arrives.

I've ordered one from Autoleads via Halfords and been waiting 6 weeks still no sign of. It was only £15 but I'm worried the face won't match the dash, it doesn't look smooth like the ones pictured above. It looks a bit pitted like the ad at the start of the topic. Does anyone know ?

Hi Fargo, Cheers for reply will get cracking at the weekend. As for my speedo cluster I got a bit ripped off, I brought a kit off of E-bay for £25 only to recieve 6 leds Which I've now spotted on your thread for about £2 each. But did come with easy to follow instructions. There was 5 leds on the back of the clocks to change, 3 large the only 3 that size and 2 smaller the ones with the blue backs. The other 1 was for the ignition barrel. Looks the nuts but need to finish center unit. Is this how you done yours?

Sorry to join this a bit late guys, I've just fitted Blue leds to the clocks and ignition barrel on my altezza. Have also just upgraded the stereo to a single din unit which also lights blue. The trouble is I've still have orange lit controls above the stereo, ie clock and temp controls. Is there a kit I could get for this ? Any help would be appreciated as job only looks half finish.

Not that well up on my electronics so i looked it up this morning in the Maplins catalogue, thats where i got this formula. was told that 12v minus the 5v would give you the 7v to work from. Also told the resistor would be put in line before the leds where fed in parallel. Is this wrong?

I was way out. Looked it up this morning fomula is:-

Rl = Vs-Vf/If therefore 12 - 5/0.025 = 280ohm resistor

using 0.025 instead of 0.03 so your not running max power all the time.

The wattage size depends on how many leds your using,

1 LED =0.175watt

10 LEDs=1.75watt

As Geoffers said there are much brighter leds in Maplins, at 40mcd you might need quite a few.

Think its a 4kohm resistor your looking for, If my maths is any good

0.003A x 4000= 12v. I'll check it out tomorrow.

You could always try Radio spares (R.S) for 12v leds

The 2 head units i looked at were both bottom cd units, 1 out of a T reg the other a W, only the main plug looked different like you say has more pins. Had a nightmare with a breakers who sold me a knacked unit, they told me they tested. When i sent it back they said i'd swapped it for mine, had to drive 150 miles round trip just to sort it out ,anyway to cut a long story a bit shorter thats when they produced this T reg unit that had more pins, and tried to flog me that. Wanted to cut the loom to fit it. so with that i took my money and run before the side cutters came out

If you are thinking of fitting a 2nd hand unit its worth checking out the plug config, I've seen 2 different types not sure whether its a year or import thing. But will save alot of hassle. Good luck

Can any 1 help! Trying to upgrade rear speakers in my Altezza but having trouble getting my hand on them. Are the Speaker covers removable by pushing in a certain direction or is it a case of takin out back shelf. Sure theres an easy way just haven't found it!!
