  1. Hello All,

I just purchased by first LS430 two weeks ago from my local Lexus dealership. The car is excellent and the service guys at Guildford have been superb, I can see why everyone here loves the cars and the service so much.

My only gripe with the car is there is a bit of tyre roar when I drive on the motorway (60-70mph). I have Dunlop tyres front and back, are these the correct type for the car?

Previously I have had a 7 series and a XJS and which were pin quiet. The Jag was very pretty and the beamer a great drive, but definately not what I would call reliable. I brought the LS for its reliablity and would like to get the relationship off to a good start. Any suggestion on the tyres would be great.

Any tyre details available? Made in Japan or not there (believe it or not, it makes a difference). Do you have air suspension and compare with leaf spring cars? The LS engine is unfortunately not loud enough, that's why you hear the tyres:)

There are new quiet but costly Michelins. However, it is time for winter shoes.

  2. Hi Guys

I have just bought a LS430 Premium Pack yesterday and I am condidering an LPG conversion. If any of you have had it done please let me know your thoughts on it.

I have seen a thread here on the marelli system and just wanted to know if that is any good. The installer near me uses Zavolli, is that any good.

I am based in the Midlands

    Any advice is appreciated

    Regards

    Ifty

I installed a Vialle LPI two years ago. Well, the installer in the Netherlands is far away but I would do it again. This injection system is simply the best. To be honest, mine is two LPI as there was none for 8 cylinder but I think meanwhile there is one.

I noticed that Prins VSI systems make owners happy.

  3. ive recently bought a 92 ls400 and i'm after a bit of info regarding tyre sizes etc as in whats the biggest i can fit without any modifaction to the arches etc what wheels suit it if possibly any photo's of what other owners have done to their cars. I'm currently running around on a tiny set of 15 inch wheels which wer already on the car but i'm not happy with the amount of tread width they have

Long ago I changed to Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 235/45/R18 and BBS rims. It was the right decision: The BBS paint is world leading and the Sportmaxx are meanwhile stock on some Lexus.

  4. I got the dealer to fit a Vais SL2i-UP in my 2005 LS430 and it's a bit disappointing. The sound quality is quite poor, Vais support is almost non-existent and the functionality is severely lacking. With the generation of Lexus radio that I have, I cannot browse by artist or album. I have to create a playlist for all the music that I want to listen to and there is no 'browsing in context' where I can see a list of previous tracks and following tracks relative to the current track. All my music on the iPod is lossless but the sound quality through the ML system is very weak and lacking in any depth, tonal range, timbre or presence.

Luckily, getting the SL2i-UP fitted didn't cost me anything. I'm on the hunt for a better iPod integration for my 2005 LS430. An audio fitter recommended a Dice unit. Does anyone have any experience of Dice units or any other iPod integrations that work more intuitively and offer more functionality? The integration is limited to MD-emulation via the CD autochanger interface so I cannot do MP3-text emulation because of the age of my nav unit. I want to be able to use the Lexus radio, touch-screen and steering wheel-mounted controls to control the iPod fully and be able to browse albums, artists, playlists, genres, audiobooks, etc.

I installed a Vais Technology MultiMediaLinQ in my 2004 LS430. It is High End digital music, cristal clear sound! I'm very happy with that MP3 adapter. The best thing is that I do not longer have to press the "I agree" button every time I switch on ignition. You will find more details at http://www.multimedialinq.com/

Your 2005 LS430 has gen 4 navigation. It supports MP3 text:

but you are right, only a MD-emulation is possible with gen 4 nav. However, I can sell brand new MultiMediaLinQ for just 120 GBP net price. PM me if you're interested.

Native Video Interface for iPod touch and Iphone coming soon: SL2iC

  5. I looked into this, aparently burns out exhaust valves & ruins cats, thats what ive been told by a firm that installs them, lpg is a better way to go if you do enough miles.

Thanks, experience seem to be different. However, it is the nature of this gas to ruin metal. Perhaps Paracelsus was right: "Omnia sunt venena, nihil est sine veneno. Sola dosis facit venenum."

I installed Vialle LPI for smoother ride and much less environmental impact. B.t.w. no space under the LS hood for another system.

  6. Hi

    Go to this site:

    http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/

It's cheaper than buying at the dealer. (although the weak pound will not help as they charge in euros if I recall correctly.)

Get the details from your existing DVD to make sure you order the correct one.

Yep, that's the site I was talking about.

The 2009 edition has no nav lock and it is e.g. possible to add a new destination while driving. Nice update as long as a passenger is doing it.

  7. Hi there

It would be interesting to know the mileages recorded on Club members LS 400s i.e. lowest and the highest

My vehicle is only used on high days and holidays i.e. LS400 MkIV first registered in March 1998 2 owners and has 57300 recorded miles i.e approx 6000 per year dont suppose this is the lowest but I would be particularly interested to know any lower and the highest figures on record obviously going back to a Mk I which I would imagine would be quite high being up to 18years old.

    MJM 444 :driving:

1990 LS400 and 217 000 miles on the clock and my 2004 LS430 with 93 000 miles. What a pitty that I cannot drive both at the same time ;)

  8. Seems too good to be true. Presumably not fitted because of cost/reliability issues? Amazing, tho'.

I do like the idea of vaulting speed bumps.

Not fitted because of the price for a set, I asked.

Sitting down, The price is around £10K to £12K here in the UK.

Is it really available for the aftermarket? Would you please publish details who deals with it? Is this 12K for a complete kit excluding installation? Rumors are afloat the new GS460 suspension is similar.
