  1. A few months ago I left my car (IS200 Sport) parked at work, when I went to go home I found that I couldn't open the car with the remote locking. Eventually I gave up and left it.

When I got home I replaced the Battery in the key and gave it another go the next morning...still nothing.

I read in the manual that I could open it with the key and disable the alarm by starting the engine with the key...which I did.

I've read on the forums about radio interference temporarily disabling peoples remote locking, but this can't be the case here because it's been like this for about 6 months.

I phoned my local dealer who kindly said they'd look at it..... for £90 an hour plus parts.

So before I empty my wallet does anyone have any suggestions

  2. Nope, plugs at the back are different...

    Sneeky buggers :(

So that must mean that they would have had to carry on making the old model as well as the new one...which doesnt make sense. Oh well.

Just got off the phone to my local Lexus dealer, quoted £1000 for a new one....not happy

Omg is that how much they cost??? I've not looked into mine yet, an it's been broke for like 7 months lol

Next month i might as well start buying a whole new audio system for that amount

There are a couple of the newer type with the slot on the top knocking about on eBay fairly cheap, but I'm having trouble sourcing the older type for a sensible amount.

It's stuff like this that is makeing me think twice about buying a new IS. In the last 6 months the remote locking has packed up, the cd player has packed up and one night the left indicator started going all buy itself when the automatic headlights came on....ended up having to pull the fuse out for the indicators...at least that last prob. has fixed itself for now.

  3. My Dad got his 5 Series done by a BMW dealer and it was getting on for £200. But you can buy all the stuff yourself. If you go to www.jewelultra.com all the info is on there, I gave them a ring, bought the pack with the conserver and shampoo (I think it was about £39) and it comes will all the instructions to do it yourself.

Once you've put it on, you wash it off, and it gets into all the little nooks and crannies, unlike wax and as long as you was it in their shampoo afterwards, the hard shell will last for ages and probably only needs done once a year, if that.
