  1. Hi Jason, welcome to the club.

I see you have got started on some of the common mods, and it's looking good.

    The offending 15kg item

    IMG00099-20110416-1440.jpg

Do you have this offensive item cluttering up your shed/garage? I may be interested in taking it off your hands for a couple of quid? I'm having to sell a Land Rover to fund my latest charged Lexus, but sometimes I just need to tow!

I'm sure I read on here somewhere that you are much better off going for the Denso spark plugs from Toyota rather than the NGKs.

I think this is the accepted knowledge around here, get them for eBay though if you don't want to pay dealer prices.

  2. You should be getting 200-210 (at the fly) with the TTE charger. You seem to be getting very little over standard. It sounds very much like you are loosing boost.

Check the entire system for leaks, as you may be loosing boost through a badly sealed join in the piping between the air box and charger, charger and intercooler or intercooler and inlet manifold. Also check that the belt is in good condition and tight, as they can slip. If in any doubt then replace the belt, I paid under a tenner I think.

The best thing you can do it rig up a boost gauge, that will show you when you are loosing the boost.

As for further increasing power (after you get this sorted, of course) your best bet is to remove the pre-cats from the manifold, the main cat too (though you will probably have to refit it for MOT time), Denso iridium plugs are good, and either an uprated air filter or preferably an induction kit (sounds absolutely awesome, nothing like it on this world, though wouldn't recommend it if you want to be subtle!) That's about as far as I got with mine! You can't really tune it much further without going into BIG money thou.

  3. Wouldnt think there'd be enough room, and i think the M62 is only rated for engines upto 3L so properly a tad underpowered TBH.

    Stav

Yeh I thought that may be the case, thou the lump doesnt look that much bigger and the fit in the 200 isn't exactly tight.

Looking like I may have get another to fit my charger and parts too. Best bet financially and all that. (Had a few beers!) Just thought: Why not a 300? I remember that the charger is for UPTO 3000cc so should give some boost at least and be quicker than a 200.

How's ure's comin along Stav? Not really keeping up these days.

  4. Just a random question that may have been asked before:

Would there be any way possible to fit a TTE charger kit into a 300?

    This:

    Into this:

I would have thought that if this was possible then I would have heard of one.

If at all possible, what kind of custom work will be needed and how well would it even run with the larger lump?

    Any ideas?

  5. blimey mate!! real bargains!!

a mate told me the best time to get bargains on ebay are when auctions end between 2-3 a.m . i dunno, i'm sleeping then. lol!!

Yeh I have tried this, thou the thing is, auctions tend to run for 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days etc, and therefore will only end at 2-3am, if they were first listed at that time, therefor there are not so many! Though still some steals to be had.

I have a habit of e-mailing the sellers of things at the moment before the items end, to see if they will do a deal, and worked a treat yesterday with the calipers and the A and C piller covers all from the same seller through the back door :shifty:

Ooooh, is that in line wit eBay rules Chris? :)

  6. Had a good day today bargain hunting on ebay,

    Brought today =

2 complete Lexus Is200 rear brake calipers with pads and hoses for £10,

A and C piller covers for £6 for all 4

    4 x 12" 12v purple cathode tubes for £2

4gb ipod Nano for the bargain price of £3.45

And 3 cans of Lynx Deodrant for 50p

    I love bargain hunting

Anybody else found any bargains recently :)

    You have done very well!

Best I managed was 4 wheels and good tyres for my vitara for £15.

Thou last week I picked up a quality Celestion DVD player (originally £300-400) for a tenner!

  7. Thanks you very much to "Steve, Matt and the team" for the Christmas Card, it was much unexpected!

Hope you all had a god one. Best of luck in the new year. Not been on LOC much recently, not driving the Lexus at the moment, and it depresses me! Hopefully all sorted again soon thou.

  8. I decided against it in the end. I already have 5 unroadworthy cars. Need to shift at least a couple until I have somewhere to even put it, and my credit card doesnt need another car on it either!

Though thanks for the advice, had the rad blow in my IS recently, can be a nasty business. Though your valuation of £500......well done. Think it went for £510!

Hehehe. Glad I could help :)

So long as that GS wasn't hiding anything sinister whoever won her has bagged a bargain!

What other cars do you have?

    B x

Yeh it's a hell of a lot of car for the money! In Plymouth too, which ain't far. See ure a Devon girl, so you'd know!

I have a Charged IS Lexus, a couple of Toyota Celicas, Suzuki Vitara and a mk2 Golf GTi. Though none of them is in a properly reliable, roadworthy and legal! Getting to work on a mountain bike currently!

  9. I'm thinking about this one. ebay item=130274997397

    fd99_1.JPG

No idea what these are worth in todays market, was hoping one of you guys does?

I dont have very much to spend, as it will basically be a temporary car for the winter. My mk2 golf gti just produced an MOT fail sheet as long as my arm! I should be looking for an economical cheap to run 106/fiesta type thing, but hey...

Anyone wanna buy a mk2 gti with no MOT?

  10. The above prices are very good value, properly fitted, top make kits, they will not last for long, as soon as Christmas is over the prices will go up....

I'm assuming it's the prices that won't last for long? And not the kits! :winky:

I would be interested if my car was not off the road! I may be at some point, but not this year.

Like Kris, I would prefer not to cut a hole out of my wing (you mention in your fitting post that the interior plastic rim could be replaced cheaply and easily after un-installing the kit, how about the wing?) Can it be fitted somehow under the car, out of view. In the boot would be ideal, but I think I read that was not legal?

I am intrigued as to how it would affect power output though. Do you expect I would see a measurable increase in horse power at all? Will it work well with a supercharger and other engine mods? That would be an added bonus!
