  1. my experience says no it is not possible.I have tried but the only way it works is to convert mp3s to ac3 or other formats which negates the saving in first place .I reverted to just useing cds .....sorry ....maybe somone else has had more sucess

Morning. Well i dont want to speak to soon but I think I may have cracked my problem. I will only know for sure later this morning as I am being picking up by Lexus to take delivery of my new IS220D SE-L MM S/R in 15 min.

Basically I have discoverd some software that will convert your mp3 files into a video DVD format. So what you end up with is a normal video dvd but instead of the menus leading you to scene selections etc, they become folder and track selections instead.

Your mp3 folders are recoded into a dvd video codec which the MM will see as a video file.

I can't see any reason why this will not work but hey worth a try i suppose. I fill post full details when I have my car.

    Hold thumbs guys!! :whistling:

That will work! Still there is the 255 limit on the number of files.

Does anyone know ir DVD-Audio disk work on the 220d-250 ?

  2. Hi all,

I'm awaiting delivery of an IS 220d SE Multimedia, with the M. Levinson bits etc and as I'm in the market for a new MP3 player, thought I may as well kill a couple of birds with one stone, so a few questions if that's okay.

    1. I am aware that the multimedia pack includes ipod integration, but what does this really mean? Is it just an aux jack, or is this something that will enable me to see what is being played and use the steering wheel controls etc?

    2. Do I have to buy an ipod? I'm not a big apple fan and would rather get a Zune or something similar. Will these work or is it just for ipods?

    3. If the answer to 1 is just an aux jack, would my buying a third party integration system and having it fitted independently of Lexus invalidate the warranty?

    4. Finally, (thanks for bearing with me!) what is the best third party integration kit and are there any that show all the same info as the mp3 player itself and not just playlists etc?

    Thanks for your help!

  3. Rubish!

The IS220d is a good car. At least the current version. I bought a 220d L and I am very pleased with it. The diesel is not very fast and it only as a reasonable aceleration but with its two tonnes what do you want. Its either the extras or the weight, buy the sport version whitout any extras. Lighter and better gear ratio. In Portugal diesel is quite less expensive than petrol ant taxes are based on cc so the 250 petrol is out of question.

  4. I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with semi-synthetic oil being used for servicing of these cars. It should only be genuine fully synthetic oil only. High performance engines are engineered to a high level of precision - they have certain characteristics that require the use of only the highest quality engine oils - semi-synthetic oils by their very nature cannot be suitable for such uses.

Surely no-one here would be 'happy' to chuck in 15W40 mineral oil into their engine?

Extended drain intervals aside or even condition based servicing that can prolong a service to circa 18 months between intervals, the use of fully synthetic oils should be an exclusivity for these types of engines. You can't see BMW, MB, Audi even advocating the us of such oils, then why do Lexus? To save money on service costs? Then cost savings should be sought elsewhere and not in the life-blood of a car's engine.

    RUBISH!

Synth or semi-synth oil only mke a difference if used for longer periods of time and/or miles. The short chage of oil with the Lexus makes it possible to use semi-synth oil without any problem. The deterioration of the oil in 15000Km is small. I we where talking 20000 plus Km that could be a problem.
