  1. Can anyone tell me if the RX300 SE-L is compatible with the Lexus iPod integration kits. Allowing for touch screen audio control. I seem to remember seeing a post somewhere now cannot find it.

    All help appreciated

    thanks

yes it is - but check the kit out as it is not as sophisticated as teh vaistech. Only plays playlists....

Spoke to Lexus, apparently the Lexus kit will not fit a pre-05 model. What a shame. Looked at the Vaistech, but concerned re third party installer and warranty !!!

  2. Thanks for this - I have an RX300 SEL. It has the SatNav and I have just received a promotional flyer from Lexus re: thier IPod integration kit {£199} - I was considering the purchase but now i've seen this !!

Does this kit fit the RX300 2003 model ??

Where can I find a UK supplier installer ????

I am sure this device has been mentioned before in these forums but I just wanted to blow the trumpet again.

If you are looking for an iPod solution for your RX (and lots of other models), are fed up with FM transmitters and underwhlemed by the Lexus offering that can only function if you set up playlists for everything you want to listen then you need to look at the:

    SoundLinQ2 (SL2Vi) from Vais Technology (http://www.vaistech.com)

I have just had this unit fitted in my 2008 RX400h and I can now browse my iPod using the touch screen display. I can browse by Artisit, Album, Playlists, Genre, Audiobooks & Podcasts. I can also playback iPod movies through the front display unit (assuming I am stopped with the parking brake on). The following is cut and pasted from the Vais Tech Website:

    Key Features:

Audio input dedicated for iPod™ integration

Audio Source selection and iPod™ controls via OEM Radio or

I paid for UPS shipment which was another $50. I also paid £80 for fitting by a very nice chap called Damian who does fitting work for Lexus Sidcup. Installation took half an hour and he was impressed how everything just worked. The wiring looms and connectors are all high quality.

So in total I paid about £140. This unit is far superior to the Lexus offering and quite a bit cheaper (I had it in my last RX, its crap !).

Also - there is an option in the SL2vi's software to 'press' the 'I Agree' button for you on the safety warning that appears everytime you switch on the car. So now, when I start the car, 5 seconds later there is a little beep and the display switches to the map display by itself - Yes !

Have a look at the website for all the details. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

I dealt with a very nice chap called Eugene at Vais Tech who was very helpful.

Stop struggling with your iPod and get this unit, I love it.

    Cheers,

    Andrew.

  3. I too looked at other 4x4's and considered the GS Lexus to be the best looking. After looking at BMW, merc VW et al. Also I was so impressed with my I just wanted to keep up that level of luxury and quality. All of the others appeared to cheap inside.

With the air sus, you can expect a flawless ride and also so quiet, again very easy to drive. Tried using the tip-tronic selector and the gearing is still as smooth. I thought my GS was quiet until I tried my RX- so silent !! Going to be a joy to own!

  4. I discovered the "all windows: today,it is a stunning car. A really smooth ride and so quiet, even at speed!! just getting used to the nav system and all it's features. I've been running with a Navman 520 with my GS, but this seems so much more responsive and accurate.

What is the latest version of the dvd, i have the 2002 v1. Is there a newer release? Also is there a pdf of the nav system manual available?

One more thing, does anyone have an aftermarket iPod system fitted? which one? fm or in line? how much should I expect to pay?

  5. Well, eventually after months of deliberating and comparing, took the plunge and got myself an Approved Used RX300SE-L. Having left a GS300 II

So I shall now be changing forums and joining you guys at the RX club

Scoured the web, and eventually found a superb model at Lexus Birmingham. Would like to say a big thank you to Ben Wilson there for excellent service.

Just getting used to the car and its kit, as a drive not too dissimiliar to my GS 300 but an even smoother with the air sus.

Looking forward to owning it !!

  6. i've got an 04 rx300 and a 97 LS400, ok its not a gs and i've never been in a gs. i imagine the gs is nearly as good as the ls :winky:

but as comparisons go the ls is a far more smoother car although the rx has a more upright driving position which i prefer.

the economy is pretty similar, maybe better in the ls (around 22-25 mpg average)

you'll be in a higher tax braket next year(£400)

i find the 'car' is a much better car even tho its much older, it actually makes me appricate how good it is.

saying that the 'jeep' is fantastic but the engine does have to work a lot harder(the ls is 4ltr tho) and is noiser.

they are both great cars but if i was to only have one it would have to be the newest 'car'(LS in my case).

but dont be put off by that. i would rather have the RX than an IS or a GS!! as i go for looks and i prefer the RX above them two!

so basically i'm no help :)

Thanks for your input all the same. Point of note, I thought the increase in tax only applied to new '08 cars?
