  1. Had new tyres fitted last month (Goodyear Eagle F1 asymetrics) and I noticed that I need new front brake discs and pads (pads are low and the discs have bigger lips than Leslie Ash and Pete Burns:))

Checked with lexuspartsdirect.co.uk for replacement discs and pads and compared prices with local lexus dealer (Leeds). lexuspartsdirect.co.uk are about 15-20% cheaper than Leeds, so I've ordered my replacement discs and pads from lexuspartsdirect.co.uk and for mentioning LOC I got an extra 5% off.

I am more than happy with the service (and price) provided by lexuspartsdirect.co.uk and I would recommend them to anyone. I have been told that I will recieve my parts in the next 24 hours and free delivery in the UK- fantanstic.

I could have gotten cheaper (but just as good) mintex discs/pads from ebay, but I'd rather go for OEM stuff. I know the OEM pads give off a lot of brake dust- this gives me a chance to wash the car more often.

    Thanks for reading this.

    Kam

Just ordered my front discs and pads from them also - and am very happy [so far] with how helpful they have been (have spoken to them about replacement VSV for P1651 fault code).

Considering my Lexus (where the car was bought!!) couldn't find the car on their system (despite me putting about £800 their way recently for parts) without any real apology or explanation - just silence at the end of the line, I would highly recommend Lexuspartsdirect.co.uk (think it is John who I have spoken to).

  2. Can somebody please confirm either way if the LS430 and GS430 are fundamentally the same block/engine? I have read the only difference is the ECU. Will and LS430 transplant into a GS430 with no problem - obviously if ancillaries need changing over please can you give me an idea also.

    May Thanks,

    Seb

  3. I've found...at last...an LS430 engine at a reasonable price and the company is seems good and not assocaited with The engine Centre/heathtrow engine/rivermeade engineering!

Can someone please tell me exactly what are the differences [if any] between the LS and the GS430 engines as it is to go in a GS430.

Many Thanks for any and all help, much appreciated.

  5. Hi everyone,

just wondered if anybody could give me the names of any trusted Parts suppliers (2nd hand/refurb type) Have been in contact with 2 - "Macc Parts" (also known as Japauotparts) in Birmingham and Mr Engine"

does anyone have any experience with these 2 companies or any others for that matter.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. well - my friend (who is as honest and trustworthy as they come!) has had the car since first registration. He did point outthe irony of asying how reliable they are when it was sat ther ewith no engine! He has had it serviced since new by Lexus-Guildford and since the engine blew and the yquoted £13,800 for new engine has taken to driving something else!

He tells me he thinks it wassomethign to do with the fact that the was somehow an oil leak which coincided wit hfaulty dash oil warning (he thinks) and bascially the engine seized.

  7. Hi everyone - new to the forum as about to take the plunge [hopefully] with a '01 GS430SE - however I need an engine lol! does any body know of a good engine refurb compnay that can supply an engine for this?

Have located an 18Kmile one for £1995 - would I be silly to not take that up?

    Any/All help much appreciated

  8. Why not just buy a GS430 and trade in the GS300 probably be better than trying to swap engines. You will also get the wooden steering wheel and larger wheels and maybe a few other bits.

sorry, that was badly written first post. I don't have a GS300 at present but have been offered a GS430 in need of a new engine - everything else on it is spotless and it is a great car.

so am trying to source a replacement. Dealer just quoted me £13,800 for a new one...have been told you can get good reconditioned ones for around £2,500.

  9. That'll be an interesting thread for the conversion. All the best in the search.

Just re-read my post and it sn't that clear - I'm not doing an conversion, sorry! just looking for a replacement engine for a GS430 (am currently driving a 3.0V6 and looking forward to stepping up a grade so to speak, lol!)

DOes anybody know ball park figures for new engines for 2000 gs430's?

  10. Hi everyone - am very close to becoming the proud owner of a GS430. However, I need to find a new engine for it! Where is a good place to look? am after, ideally a new-new engine and not a second hand one.

Any help would be gratefully receieved!

Looking forward to making the step-up from 3.0V6 to 4.3V8!
