  1. wouldnt this be better option? http://www.dieseltuningbox.com/lexus.html (thank for the link Illestit), just want to know if anyone here had tried this device yet....
a unit called the spider was mentioned some months ago by nate 73 who i think has since defected to audi,i don't know if he ever installed one though.

I have this unit installed, did it on sunday. Makes so much difference. You can feel the extra power, the car has less of a flat spot before the turbo and the torque is awesome, just testing the mpg at the moment. So far im averaging the same but havent really drove economically yet, although i did today and was getting in excess of 48mpg

but did you had a 5th Injector recall done? i had my done and the flat spot problem seem to be gone, so unless this device make it alots better even after the 5th injector recall, then i will question if its money good spend. also which one you fitted to your car? Spider® diesel tuning system or the Venom system?

    Regards

    Maz

the unit took 10mins to install, its the spider unit which constantly updates to provide performance or economy depending on how you drive. You simply connect the unit into the common rail socket and attach the unit to the Battery and your done, all instructions are included. I havent had the fifth injector done, my 220d is a 57 plate. It still has the turbo lag at low revs but its so much better now than before and im afraid that 6th gear is still quite poor, however there is some improvement. Im off to London today so ill let you know what the mpg is like after the journey. I drove through Notts yesterday though and was averaging 48mpg.

  3. Try Tint-R in Nottingham, had my widows done by them 3 year ago and I think many other chaps had there's done there too. Very good place. Very reasonable price too.

Went down dropped car off and jumped on a tram into the centre and he rings you back when it is done B)

How much was it exactly? was it for an is 250/220d? and what percentage tints did you have/would advise?

Ive never had window tints before but looking into it for the lex

    Cheers

  4. Hi Everyone,

Although I have the same dashboard rattles as everyone else on here (even though it has been out once to rectify the problem), I have now been blessed with another annoying noise. During the recent hot weather, when I drive the car, a horrible plasticy cracking noise comes from the rear of the interior. From what I can tell, its either coming from the rear parcel shelf or the third brake light surround. Strangley enough, when the temperature is lower, i.e. early in the morning, the noise disappears. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, has a standard fix been identified for the vibrating rear view mirror.

    Thanks Guys.

I get a rattling from the parcel shelf but it can often be heard, not just during warm weather.

Do you know what the fix for the rattling is for the passenger air vent?

  5. Due to the ever increasing cost of fuel I have made some interesting comparisons that I'd like to share with you that compares the average cost of fuel per year over 12000 miles. To calculate I have used the following base data to calculate the difference.

IS250 avg MPG 39 (based on previous forum posting) at a price of £1.169 per litre would use 307.69 gallons a year at a cost of £1635.16

IS220d avg MPG 44 (based on my own car) at a price of £1.309 per litre would use 272.73 gallons per year at a cost of £1622.92

    A difference of only £12.24

Think it is safe to say that I will be going for the petrol next time as the gap between the 250 and 220d only needs to increase by 1p a litre and it will become cheaper to run a petrol car than a diesel

    Thanks

    Mark

let's use statistics from the spritmonitor.de

    IS250 9,32l/100km = £2091,85

    IS20d 7,55/100km = £1897,53

    difference of £194

IF the price of both models was same here, it is clear it is not worth to buy the diesel, but here is the 220d 4.000 euros cheaper. And you won't sell the petrol for more than the diesel.

could it be worth taking these into consideration?

    Petrol

    Diesel

  6. Does Lexus Dealer have body kit for the IS220d? i only see IS250 owner with body kit on, but not IS220d?

saw this on ebay the price is pretty good what do you guys think?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...544e484ffdc4608

only thing is the rear lip will be no good to us IS220d owner as it had twin exhaust exit (IS250), but could just buy the front alip and 2 x side skirt i suppose...? or does anyone know a good company in the UK that does body kits for the IS220d?

    http://www.trc-tuning.com/index_shop.htm

These do a kit that would fit on the 220d as they have an aftermarket exhaust also that gives the car quad pipes

  7. All info is good mate - I didn't mean it as a dig at all. It just seemed that everyone was ignoring you and giving you a possible reason why.

Bet there's loads out there that haven't read Harry the manual.

I found it useful, very useful. I am one of these that cannot be arsed to read the manual and like to stumble upon things, this way its like having a new gadget on the car every now and then.

  8. Got my IS250 when i was 24.

I dont know about the others but the wood finish in the SE-L made it seem more of an old mans car !!

I totally agree there, thats the exact reason why I didnt go for the SE-L. I just went for the 220d for better fuel consumption and no matter how bad people say it is on here im getting more mpg in comparison to my last car (however i do also drive slightly different)

  9. 1. Which is the best ipod integration system? I have a video ipod and would like to be able to watch the videos stored on it if possible. After looking into it, I am under the impression that the Vaistech SoundLinQ2 (SL2Vi) - iPod Video Interface Adapter allows you to do this. Just wondered if this was the case? if so is it any good or would i just be better off getting the lexus ipod integrator?

    2. Obviously for safety reasons you are unable to watch a dvd whilst driving or, much too my surprise, access your phonebook for the bluetooth phone system when in motion (only when stationary). Is there any means by which you can alter the system so that everything can be accessed at anytime? ie watch a dvd (for passengers) and access phonebook whilst driving?

    1. In all honesty, when are you going to watch video from your iPod?? I rarely watch a DVD in the car, but perhaps for a passenger the DVD hack would be OK. I have my video iPod hooked up with the OEM installed integration unit and it works absolutely fine..musi only.

    2. There's a hack but it's intrusive surgery requiring removal of the centre vents and in your case the panel around the gearstick etc. It also invalidates the warranty. Use the search facility for 'hacks' to find the relevant posts.

Cheers for the advice, its much appreciated.

  10. Greetings one and all.

I have just become the proud owner of my first lexus, the IS220d SE, and so far so good.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some help with regards to the multimedia system.

    Two points really,
