  1. Does anyone know in plain english, how to disable the autolock set up on an 08 220d? According to the handbook you disable it with the ign on

(but not running) and hold the unlock button until the locks cycle. Tried this but to no effect, they dont cycle!!! And before anyone asks why? Its a 2 fold reason. 1. I hate the way it "locks you in " after you hit 12mph.

    2. Its a pain if I get out, try to grab something through the rear door and find its locked, then have to open the drivers door, press the unlock button blah blah blah.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I had my 220d in may, 57 plate ex demo with 1700 miles on it as a company car and i have to say its brilliant. I dont drive like Miss daisy and still return 46 mpg. In fact my wife and I have returned from 10 days in france, where it returned 47.8 as an average ,with a tank average of 52.4. Its comfortable on long journeys, had plenty of room for us both with all our gear. I would definatly recommend one as a company car.

  3. Ford Mondeo is even better value, especially the Titanium X model. But....would you buy one? It actually drives really nice, but you will be able to buy one for the same price as bag of spuds in 3 years.......

Forget what extra options a car has. It HAS to drive good, unless you are passenger all of time.

I totally agree with what you say. I had a TDCi Titanium X for 2 months before the company bought me the 220D, and although it was pleasant to drive, it was still a Mondeo. Sorry but image is and badge make a difference. When i arrive at a client or other branch of the business in the Lex, the attitude is always "mmm Lexus!!!" .I didnt get that that with the Mundaneo

  4. On Saturday I had a 200 mile round trip to Manchester Airport, over the Woodhead Pass, & the car returned 43.2mpg. A week or so earlier I had a 120 mile round trip to Leicestershire & got about 38mpg

I would be interested to see how mine performs, 2008 220d mm, just turned 5600 miles but returning an ave of 47.6mpg. My daily commute is 37 M1 miles twice a day, and to be honest ,the orange lights on the speedo are always on!

  5. Hi guys and girls, as some of you may know, from my post in the new members area, i have just acqired a 2008 IS220D and i have to say that so far i am loving every minute of it! My regular commute of 36miles each way a day has just got so much more bearable,I find the car a real pleasure to drive. OK the gear shift took a day or two to get the hang of, but other than that its smooth, quiet, loads of toys(love the Mark Levison stereo and reverse camera)seems to improving in mpg every day,and gets very admiring glances being black!

The other car we have (dare I say it) is an E39 BMW, and although i racked up 30k in a year in it,with no dramas, it still drives lovely, its not a patch on the Lexus.

    I'm definately a convert!

  6. Enjoying it very much at the moment, looks the business and drives lovely. Cant praise Derby Lexus enough ,really good deal and really nice people to deal with, even gave us a very good price for a TDi passat that I partex'd in against mine.

  7. Picked up my IS220D yesterday from Lexus Derby, Very happy!!! Velvet black with multi media loving it so far :D .Nice gesture from the dealer as well, full tank of fuel and a rather nice bottle of champers in a wooden case.

  8. Thanks for the welcome, unfortunately its got to be a 220 as the company will only buy diesels, and ex demo or pre reg cars. Got a couple of very low mile ones in a dealer up the road from me that look interesting. Will post my findings later .

  9. Just a quick intro, been lurking around for the last few days so thought about time i registered. Going to have a look at some 220d's today, Ok wont technically be mine as the company is buying it, but I'll be the only one driving it, so it is mine! Seem a very friendly and knowledgable bunch on here so hopefully be spending a lot of time on here.

    Cheers,

    Mark
