The 0-60 times don't show much. The torque and mid range acceleration in the 300h are amongst the fastest in the class

It's all about how relaxing the IS300h is to drive. Yes, I agree it's very quick in mid-range but will not match a high torque diesel. But we cannot compare the two as they are too different, so let’s leave it at that.

I love my car, have driven it for 5 years from new and it never ever felt stressed out even in situations where I would need to react quick in traffic. The electric traction gives good torque added to the engine power. It's flows great with traffic and is very frugal so what more does one want. These are the best cars in their class!

And would anyone agree that (off topic I know) the mileage a hybrid does is far less stressful on the engine then a regular petrol car. Mine has done 60k miles which is more likely to be 30k for the engine and brakes.

  2. A6 is about a second quicker to 60 mph it also has a lot more torque but is about 300KG heavier. I would say our cars are not very quick, just adequate. But it's all about driver skill and fear threshold.. I've done that been there. Sometimes it's fun to let off a little steam. And yes in sport mode it feel faster but as Jeremy Clarkson always says; it isn't...

  3. Hi Phooey,

    Welcome to the club.

    a) I've had my 2015 since new and only had some little stuff like the ML grill on the back shelf coming loose. Also some small creaks around the lower part of the center stack of the dashboard. Very solid and reliable and plan to drive at least another 5 years.

    b) That depends on the previous owner and whether it was owned privately or by a lease company. Just have to be lucky I guess. Mine is in great condition (privately owned) with just some stone chips on the front bumper which is very normal.

    Good luck with your search.

  4. It's only fault! In 5 years of ownership from new. The car has been perfect. Yes, in the maybe 5 times I've parked rearward in all that time it ended up a little crooked in the parking slot. Big deal!

Oh well, it's really hard to find anything wrong with this car so when they do find something they blow it way out of proportion. Get a life.

  5. The light it gives off is really appalling though. Even after upgrading with LED!

Last week reversing into a dark driveway and could not see anything, even with the rear camera. This is a definite fail for Lexus as they otherwise make an excellent car!

Is there any way to modify to a brighter and 2nd light?

    Thanks!

  6. Best car Ive ever owned. Even the odd rattle turned out to be door seals that needed to be cleaned.

Other than the door seals there is some brake noise when almost coming to a halt (seems to be normal) and the main ML speaker grill coming loose behind the rear seat which the dealer fixed. All small stuf.

This is such a smooth and quit car, I'm not longing for anything else after 3 year of ownership from new.

  7. Very happy with the door seals suggestion! This was driving me nuts and yes, it does sound like the seat belt mechanism! My solution is to just apply silicon spray on a rag and apply. I do not want to add any substance that could start to build up. Works a treat, very Lexus quiet again! It is only the right-rear door that was doing it. It happens to be the door that stays closed most of the time. The dealer looked for the rattle many times and was not able to fix. it. As a Lexus dealer you would think that noisy door seals could be common. Anyway, this is really a great forum and happy to have joined. It's also for guys like Darren sharing his experience so others can benefit. Thanks Darren!

    Happy Lexus IS300h driver :yahoo:
