Hi guys,
I bought a 1991 Lexus LS400 a few months ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. A supreme bargain of a car with lots of service history.
There are a few minor issues with the car. One is that the CD autochanger doesn't work. When you press the CD button the display shows an error. The CD holder/cartridge looks in good condition and each section opens normally.
Does anyone know what things I can check to try and get to the bottom of this?
Thanks very much,
Gordon

Hi Pete, had tried a search but can't find the thred you mention. I'll try to have a look on Saturday at the car and find the motor and take it out and give it a clean etc as you suggest. Thanks!

Hi there,
My windscreen washers on my 1991 LS400 have stopped working. Theres plenty of fluid in the reservoir, and there are no sounds when you try to activate the washers. I've checked all the fuses and they are fine.
Can anyone suggest what to check next? Where the relay and motor are located? Testing procedures for these etc?
Many thanks!

Are these pictures of a V8 Soarer Sump?
Does anyone have pictures of the LS400 sump for comparison?
Thanks for any help!

Hi DR g, if im correct in thinking its 60,000 or 6yrs which ever is sooner .
At 25,000 miles since the last change the belt should be fine . Givin the 6yr reference that should give you at least 2yrs before you should think of having it replkaced. That would be my thinking if it were my car .
cheers steve.
Thanks Steve.

I've just bought my 1991 LS400 with 125,000miles showing and the the belt was last changed in 2004. The car has done 25000miles since then. Does it require to be changed? I know 60-80K miles is a reasonable mileage between changes, but is there a time limit also?
I was just kind of worried, as we all know service histories can be tampered and faked. Most of the receipts I have are from when a private reg was on the car.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks guys. It turned out it was a Soarer sump, but I need the upper alloy section also as it's also different on the LS400 vs the Soarer. It's for a engine conversion for my Lotus Excel. Have you sorted yours out tuninghouse?
