  1. u must be lucky

When i was pulled last time about 3 years ago on my focus in Doncaster, i didnt get fine, i just got banded of road. Cops just gave me note that i can drive me car til i get home, remove tints, book appoitment in Sheffield for checking if tints were removed and after that my car was road worthy again. And all that happend on friday evening.

  2. Hi guys, i am really sorry, but i sold my Lexus IS 200, after 1 month ownership. I really liked car, it was one of best cars i ever owed, but she had to go due high running cost, and i got very good offer for her :) + needed some work doing on her.

So i got myself VW Passat 1.9 TDI sport on 02 with 75000 miles, full S/H. It is very nice car as well, returns me 45mpg around town.

Can anyone help me with few diesel question,

When i was cleaning engine bay, i spotted quite a lot oil around EGR valve, so i took it to my mechanic and i showed him. He said that is normal and don't worry about it.

I took to another one just to make sure, and he says that i need new turbo, he showed me it was oil air in intake hoses from the inter cooler from the turbo. He said that turbo on his way now, and need replacing.

The car drives OK, only under hard acceleration, black smoke comes out.

No power loss, no smoke on idle, just only in the mornings when i start little white smoke.

Guys please do i need get worried about it, or just leave it.

another quick question, when i turn steering wheel squeaking noise comes from wheels, what it could be?

    Thanks guys

  3. Ok I didn't read the first post properly. I read it as the engine was replaced after 25000 miles. Sorry.

If it's done 100,000 miles then it could feasibly be that it was a death due to old age. Ask what kind of miles it has done. 100,000 miles up and down a motorway isn't excessive yet 100,000 miles pootling around towns in stop start traffic and running cold would make it's 'wear age' much greater than it's physical age.

Why did he spend that much money on it when the car was worth less than the cost of the repair? Could it be that the car has been very good and the owner didn't want to get rid of it?

I'd just ask the questions - have you got anyone you know who's a mechanic to look over the car before you buy it? If not, I think the AA offer that service.

    So guys,

The current owner of car got it allready with all work done to it (about 16 month ago), when car originally was on 110000 miles, since that he has done 5000 miles on all new replacment parts. I asked him reason why engine was replaced, he told me due cambelt snapped on 110000, replacement engine with 25000 was fitted, but it did not happend when he was owning car, just before he bought it. The only work he done all brakes, cylinders, mot'd 12 month.

Yes i would prefer hatch more, but it just came up, and amount of work done to it, its like another 5 years trouble free motoring. I drove car, and it could not belive it, it was so solid, it felt like brand new, to be honest , it was better drive than my IS200, felt so solid smooth, gear changes so smooth.

Being GHIA, it has got full grey leather interior ( which very rare to find in focuses), electric seats, heated front and rear windows and mirrors, full electric windows, heated electric mirrors, brand new tyres.

The only thing bit worrys me, the current owner, looks like he does not have any clue about cars. When i asked him to pop bonnet up, he did not know how to do it, he said to me for past 16 month he did 5000 miles, and if any work needed he took it to garage. Reason for sale, he became desaible, so he cant drive anymore. But having car for nearly 2 years and dont know how to open bonnet, i just cant belive it

  4. Hi guys,

I am going to get my self Ford Focus 1.8 GHIA TD DI Saloon 4dr on V reg 2000 with 115000k on clock, as second car, due to my work. It will cost me fortune to use my IS200.

I love focus, i used to have focus before 1.6 lx, and had 3 years trouble free motoring ( but this another story)

So the car in very good condition, few little scratches, but what worries me the repair which done to car recently.

Car had about 5000 miles ago new engine (with 25000 miles), new clutch, new diesel pump, new timing belt, new discs and pads, new bushes, oil filter, engine and gear box oil, glow plugs, back break shoes, back cylinder all this cost previous owner more than £2000.

I am buying it for £1800, do you think it is good deal?

Does anyone knows how is reliable TD DI engines?

    Thanks

  5. I was so lazy, so took it down to local garage, and let them to pull my pans down. It cost me £200, parts and labour cost for front discs and pads. While my car was on ramp, they showed me that left shocker is leaking as well. Quote me £140 fitted, so next job shocker.

It wasn't Kwik-fit was it ? I would be inclined to get a second opinion on the shock absorber and/or to clean it up yourself and see if it really is leaking (or they just sprayed some oil on it to make it look like that).

I took it to Motorsave Doncaster

Yes you are right, i will give it good clean, and see.

About brakes, they are so much better now, vibration stopped, noise gone.

    MotorSave Say No More :whistling:

    Why? Are they so bad?

  7. Do not you think guys, adding mods, its just wasting money. Don't get me wrong, i love it myself - turn heads, stand out from crowd, but if my car is corsa or focus. Lexus is already turns head, without any mods. I used to spent fortune on my cars, but when it was coming to sell, i was getting f**k all for my car, it doesnt matter how it looked. Some people were even affraid to touch it, telling that car was driven hard or trashed f**k out of it. I know its stupid, but it is a fact. Like it was mentioned in previous posts, second hand cars are loosing value very quick.

For me now, to modify car, its make sure is mechanically perfect, and nice clean body and interior.
