  1. I touched the 'user 1' button in the settings screen and now my sat nav is playing up! I assume its just a settings thing but I can't reset to the original. My fault for fiddling about!

When in guidance mode if I leave the prescribed route the sat nav does not automatically search for a new route as it should and used to, it just shows the original. Also it now not showing predicted arrival times. i have been through all of the various settings in the menu and cannot get these features to work.

Is there a total sat nav reset facility?

Any thoughts on how to get these functions back would be very welcome.

  2. We all agree there is a problem. Can we measure it? In third gear on a flat road if I sit at 1000 revs and then put my foot down it takes 8 seconds to reach 2000 revs!! I know this is not how to drive but it demonstrates the issue. Can a few others try the same test and post the results? I would like to know if mine is better or worse than average so I can complain to Lexus with some data to back me up!

    Hello Delta1,

my IS220 (also long gear ratio) runs very well for a IS D-CAT. But he takes also 7 - 8 seconds in third gear. When the temperature is about 27°C, then the ECU reduce the power and the "flat spot" will be bigger, you can feel it until 1700rpm and about 4000rpm. It´s normaly and a "wish" from the engineers of TOYOTA.

    Hi

Lexus Teesside, who are very good by the way, have changed the EGR valve and the VSV there is a slight improvement but I guess as your info suggests that this is something we have to live with. Thanks for the response

  3. I checked mine with my watch second hand but it comes out at 8 seconds time again so it is somewhere near. Anyway booked into Lexus Thursday so we will see what they say, again. Thanks

Let us know what they say.... I know the sport helps with the gearing ratio but not sure how much! For info, on the way back today I can comfortable drive (and accelerate steadily without dropping down a gear) at:

    4th - 30mph

    5th - 40mph

    6th - 50mph

All tends to be ~1500 rpm

I am contemplating the reflash of the ECU to the new one from Lexus, very happy with performance on car at the mo but curious to see how the upgrade affects it (maybe a little worried)!

    If ir ain't broke...........

  4. Thanks for the input. A difference of 4 seconds seems too much even with the gearing difference. I hope a few others will post data so we can build a profile. Thanks

Didnt do the test under any sort of controlled circumstances, no stop watch etc. Tried it again today and its 4 to 5 seconds. I was on the motorway after and can drive in 6th at 50mph. Dont need to change down to overtake under normal conditions, at around 52 + mph the turbo / torque just starts to kick in(this is at just over 1500 rpm).

If I do the same it takes ~4 secs before the turbo is fully in and I have to ease off. I do have the sport tho so the gearing ratio does seem to make a big difference.

  7. I'd just like to say ...

Sometimes you can get one key legitimately if you buy from a Trade Warehouse or similar. Perhaps our OP bought the car from just such a place?

However, if it were a private sale then I would think twice about buying a car with one key. Not least due to the cost (and hassle) associated with getting a replacement...and usually, due to the nature of the codes it is a Dealer only job and that costs money.

I bought the car from a finance company as seen so I am not concerned about the previous owner turning up. Plus it was bought as seen so no room for negotiation unfortunately. It looks like I am stuck with cost. Thanks for the comments

Hi. Moving on. I now have a replacement fob (e-bay) but unfortunately Lexus tried but now say they can only reprog. 'virgin' keyfobs. Has anyone had used a smartfob reprogrammed or know how to clear one? It looks like bite the bullet time and buy a new one!!

  8. As far as the mk1 IS was concerned, yes if you lost all the keys, it meant replacing the entire system which was very expensive.

However, again going by the first IS, if you had one key, it was possible to program another yourself quite easily (and it's usually not too hard to get hold of keys off ebay) although I'm not sure if this is still the case with the smart access.

As above though, I'd pester the previous owner for the spare key before doing anything else as there's a good chance he still has it and can't be bothered to look for it (plus I'd always be weary of the fact that there is another key out there that could open and start my car!)

Thanks for the suggestion. I have managed to find one on E bay. It will, of course, need pairing with the car. Has anyone had any luck doing this with the new smart fob? Or is this definately a dealer job?

I have seen various helpful posts for some of the older keys but can't see any for the new one.

    Any advice very welcome.

    Thanks

  9. I have seen several posts describing reprogramming dead keys. Does anyone know the procedure for programming the 3 button fob for a 2007 IS220D. I have not been able to find the info anywhere :crybaby:

I managed to source a replacement one from eBay to replace a missing one instead of paying the £247 the dealer wanted but sadly it still needs pairing with the car.

    Any help gratefully recieved

    Thanks

  11. I am a new member so I apologise if this an old question. I have searched the forum for a similar thread.

I have just been quoted £249 for a replacement key from my local dealer, I bought the car privately and only got one with it. Does anyone now of a cheaper option?

If I can get a second hand one will they reprogramme it and how much would that cost?

I was also told if I lose this key it may mean replacing the main control unit at a huge cost. Seems extreme?

    Any advice appreciated
