Poor Fuel Consumption in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club Posted October 12, 2008 Hello from finland, I have lexus is220d. The car is about three years old. I wondering the big fuel consumption. The average consumption is 32mpg ( in suburban ) and in highway 38mpg, I think this values is 25% higher as manufacturer data! ( and believe me, I have tried to drive very very smoothly ) I have noticed strange behaviour on CURRENT FUEL COMP. METER, for example: when I drive at speed 40mph in flat road and follow the meter. it shows about 45mpg, but suddenly it jump up to 25-30mpg and stay about 2sec. then it goes down 45mpg and after 5-20 second it repeat this. The same effect is also in highway This have not effect for speed of car. I think this could be reason for increased fuel consumption? I make note to service at year ago, they up-dated ECU and changed 5 injector. but this not help. So help me, have someone get help for same kind of problem ? some sensor ? Br. Tuikan
