Awesome, that looks proper smart.
Don't mean to be the devils advocate but... it must be really noisy when you reverse now, with the parking sensor unit making noise aswell as the alert you get for putting the car in reverse??
A small price to pay to save even the smallest of bumps! It is only for a few seconds where men are concerned lol! If you know what I mean.
Thanks for the feedback FiZiX.

Not sure if anyone has seen this
WORTH CHECKING YOUR LICENSE ASAP!
Unwitting motorists face £1,000 fines as thousands of photocard driving licences expire
Thousands of motorists are at risk of being fined up to £1,000 because they are unwittingly driving without a valid licence.
They risk prosecution after failing to spot the extremely small print on their photocard licence which says it automatically expires after 10 years and has to be renewed - even though drivers are licensed to drive until the age of 70.
The fiasco has come to light a decade after the first batch of photo licences was issued in July 1998, just as they start to expire.
Motoring organisations blamed the Government for the fiasco and said 'most' drivers believed their licences were for life.
This is a clip of an email a friend sent me.It does go into more detail but I cut it short & sweet!

Look really good.........now tempted to have a go myself.... few quick questions:
So did you spray them all over lightly or did you have to mask off any areas on the sensors?
Do they still work okay, are they still as sensative?
Where did you get the Lex paint from?

Cheers
Keith
Thanks Keith, I did what they said not to do and that was brush paint them.I think it was "ormi" that stated about not getting paint on the 'o'ring.Although I couldn't see any O ring there is a small groove which seperates the sensor from the body. Not wanting to get paint in this groove I decided to brush paint using 2 tins of Humbrol enamel and mix to match the colour as close as possible.I have since tried the operation of the sensors but cannot find any noticable difference.
If I can help anymore just ask.
Thanks.Darren.
p.s. I used the cut out piece of the bumper to take as a colour match.

Congratulations,
Try before you buy. Most shops have a demo model you can try in the boot, i'm sure you'll find the right one.
They make a pram/buggy come carry-tot all in one which looks pretty neat! There also a lot cheaper than a sportcross lol.

Sorry not the best photo I know but they are now colour coded.

Thanks ormi & geoffers, two useful pieces of info to keep in mind.

how did you get them so level? any tips?
oh and wont spraying them make em think there right up against summat? i've heard that before and that it ruins them
I measured each one from the same point along the bumper.Measure down from the top lip, then measure up from the ridge at the bottom of the bumper. use tape to mark onto & that will also stop your drill slipping.DO NOT measure from the road surface. for spacing use the boot cath as a centre & work away approx 420mm from centre to centre.hope this helps.
Most sensors are made to be colour coded you may need to take the shine off with a scotch pad prior to spraying if in doubt check instructions or ask in shop when you buy. Most recomend spraying NOT brushing paint on.I'll let you know soon if it affects them....
Thanks. Darren.

Cheers m8 i'm well pleased with them. I would't hesitate to fit another set or recomend DIY.I should be spraying them tomorrow a quality aerosol from Leonard Brooks is around £13.00. Thanks for the feedbackLooks good !!!!If you use the img code witch is the bottom code on photobucket then you will see the photo's on your thread.
How long did the whole fitting take from start to finish?
Also was it Maplins in Lakeside that you got the sensors from.
I took my time because I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing then things just fell into place.I also spent time tapeing all the wires and cable tying them to the existing loom.In all about 3.5 hours but I reckon I could do one again in half the time.
Yes the kit was from Maplins at Lakeside last week it was £39.99 now £29.99 maybe even cheaper in the new year.
Thanks. Darren.
looks good mate you done a good job and all the sensors look level!! thats bloody cheap at my work(toyota) lexus use the same system its 170 for the sensor fitting kit(inc's wirin, bleeper, tape, cable tie's and the sensor ecu) and a other 80 for the sensors!!!more if they come body coloured.

No I Haven't been to any meets yet. Missed the Ace Cafe just too busy this time of year. I got mine for the missus we had them as a factory fit in our last car & she got used to them. When we got the IS she put it in reverse and it started beeping like it had sensors but the beeps never got quicker when you got near anything she didn't know it was just to let you know you have selected reverse...I did laugh when she told me.. not.
-
I may pop over to you as your just down the road lol and you can fit for me
Ian
No problem. The first one is always the hardest one. Cant believe how easy it was & people actually charge extortionate ammounts of money for fitting!

i want to see some pics of this !
I put some in the gallery if you want to see more I can email them unless you can tell me how to download them on here?

At last I have fitted a set of 4 reversing sensors to my is200.
bought a set of sensors with LED distance meter & variable beeper from Maplins for £29.99.
It says on the box easy fit & it was.
I have put some pics in the gallery section but unfortunatly I have reached the limit & can only put 6 pics on.
If anyone is intrested I photographed the insall in stages and would be glad to help if I can.
The system looks good & works well.
Thanks to those who gave me advice earlier in the forum.

With me having atleast 3k in my hand for the lexus write off,
spotted this on autotrader and is about 3 hours away from me, what do you make of it?
i love the color, its automatic which is something im after now and its silver, will long mot, but the price,
Looks good, But if you can hold off buying for another month at least you will be able to pick from a wide choice of is200s. times are hard & getting harder even dealerships are doing great deals at the mo.check all the usual sites and watch for a while the prices will be dropping mark my words.
Anyway its your choice at the end of the day. Good luck.

Right was it me or was it kinda boring? yeah the longest race there had but not sort of a race? i dont know i must hyped it up to much and then was dissapointed, what do you think??
Not your usual Top Gear I must admit but it was funny & still good to watch I thought. Vietnam looks an amazing place I would love to do something like that.Clarksons crash was side splitting for me & almost for him as well!

Go Blue yay :D
Deffinatly BLUE Montrose is the best with anthracite alloys.
We know we've all got good taste because we all bought Lexus' so the colour is just a matter of your own iceing on your cake!

Hello Has anyone got a set of black mats they want to sell please?
Preferably the original type with logos and holes for fitting.
Thanks.

My car came with a set that were broken so I got an aftermarket kit fitted. He painted the sensors for me, and fitted everything, it was about £140 all in and it's been great. Thing is he's a local person so not much use to you, but I got his details off this web site so they might have a list of fitters
Thanks Paradroid, I have just come off that website. I think its the one where you choose your kit & then choose your fitter separatly.

i think wozza is your man for this
Thank you rig-pig, i'll give wozza a try. I did find some info on here after that was intresting.

Hello, I hope i'm in the right section?
I would like to fit some reversing sensors to my is200!
Just wondered if anyone has done this?
What to look out for
Problems
recomended kits etc.
I was also toying with the idea of a camera to fit into the area where some have satnavs.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Morgz.
Mats

Welcome, I'm a bit of a newbie myself.I just picked up a set of good secondhand mats on eBay but they are quite rare and snapped up quickly.just keep looking! The ones from Lexus birmingham were/are on eBay although they are original they haven't got logos on.The only other alternative is to find someone who's breaking an is200/300 and see if they have any.
Good luck.
