  1. Thanks Tony they are my favourite too! Wendle in the previous GS I had that button but its no longer there. Surely a software upgrade or downgrade should do the trick. How difficult can it be. I was swayed because the colour was white and interior was black as opposed to palladio Silver and grey Interior. Its a totally different looking car.

  2. I exchanged my GS450h for the update edition/facelift version over the weekend. Upon getting into reverse for the first time to my shock the Rear Guide Assist was gone! The RGA in the previous version displays coloured grid lines that indicate the predicted path into the parking position. This was immensely useful since the GS is massive. I called the dealer and they said this feature was removed for 'some' cars but due to complaints Lexus started putting it back on. Unfortunately the feature cannot be added retrospectively. I find this surprising since I thought a quick software upgrade/downgrade would solve the issue. Has anyone faced the same issue/know any further information as to how and why? I am thinking of returning the car since I also sacrificed Adaptive Cruise Control and Sunroof.

  3. a 60k is a big one mate diff oil, sparkplugs ,poss air filter, brake fluid change, timin belt!if you go to lexus and buy all the service parts you'll find they will all come in toyota boxes.

and as for the toyota tecs we're trained at the same college so you will get a good service and people that know what they're doing.

if you were closer i'd take it to my work and give your car a good service!

You are 204 miles away, not that bad, im scared to go back on the motorway though, i had these nasty vibrations from the steering wheel when braking and at certain speeds the last time. If I dont find anyone here or nearer IO might make the trip and leave it with you whilst sightseeing cos I've never been to Scotland

  4. remember toyota is lexus lexus is toyota.so remember toyota could do your servicing and fault finding work they are cheaper than lexus too. their is a discount at most dealers for cars over 3 years old then a other for cars over 5 years old(lower hourly rate).but remember their is lots of really good garages with just as good tecs as toyota and lexus.

what annoys me kwik fit started with tyres nation wide with tyres budget with tyres etc now they are doing services and all sorts of repairs and are prob not qualified to do so.and get extra money for selling parts you simply dont need.

Does anyone know of reputable garages in or around Leeds???? I'll try Toyota as well. I guess I was a little naive, how could they do a service for £160 when the cheapest Lexus quote I got was £500 for a 6 year old Lex

  5. Im getting an intermittent wheezing sound from the wheels when on inclines or declines, sometimes it just goes away and some times it stays until I apply light pressure to the brakes, anybody know what could be causing this? Im off to the mechanic tomorrow and I dont want to be blagged.

i dont know how brakes are supposed to work but if I hit the brakes hard its like the pedal sinks and theres some sort of noise like im skidding. Coul this be related?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

  6. theyve poss spilt oil on or around the engine!

personally to me nationwide are tyre fitters and thats what they should stay!!the amount of people that come in to us and complain about them and their work is unreal!

they give propper tecs(like me and i've seen their work) a bad name.sorry rant over.

just give your engine a good look over and also check your exhaust... you might have ran over a bag which has melted.

Im not one to usually put people in the street like that but i am frankly dissapointed in Nationwide, when you look on the website and their "Service Spec" it looks pretty impressive but after the service I felt no difference whatsoever, I am now saving up for a proper Lexus service nomatter how much it costs. I'll have a look in the morning

  7. I had my oil recently changed at Nationwide, there is a funky/strange smell when using the fan/air con, is this normal?

think you need a aircon service matey or at the very least a new polin filter!

(air con service inc removal of old gas and oil replace with new gas and oil and anti bacteria foam put down all the vents)

Thanks Im sorry I meant to say the funky smell started soon after the oil change?

  8. The fog lights should work if the normal lights are - could just be they're either disconnected or the bulbs have blown?

To be fair the snow is going now so it may not even be worth buying snow chains.

If we had more snow I'd buy some winter tyres and pop them on but for the one or two days every two years we normally get I just take the day off work when it snows or work from home (and drink beer )

Hopefully it'll clear away soon, I also live down a hill. Catching 2 buses and a train + losing 1 and 1/2 hours of sleep is killing me. I wouldnt want to take the day off since I've got a deadline looming plus we get to go home early. I'll have the fog lights checked when I get the car in for service.

  9. The Nokian tyres look very good, but still look at little pricy. In your opinion, would it be better to get the chains or the Nokian tyres since this snow storm is only for a few days besides fitting them would take less time. in the case that Nokian tyres are the better option where can I get them in the UK. by the way, would a failing Battery cause the fog lights to stop working, i dont think my fog lights work.

  10. I left the car and took the buses, when I came back later, I couldn't even start the car, what could cause this?

Cold weather can kill a Battery that is failing. Was the engine turning over ok and not firing, or was the Battery dead ?

The Battery seems totally dead, the other day I stopped for a few minutes whilst the car was on, and after about 20 minutes I had to call someone to jump me. After being jumped the voltage says 12V

  11. I cant bear having to get winter tyres! Does anyone have the spec for what kind of snow chains I'd have to get for my IS200?

I tried to go up the driveway a couple of times in vain. I left the car and took the buses, when I came back later, I couldn't even start the car, what could cause this?

  12. Thanks a lot guys, even though the dealer I bought it from "said" it was fully serviced and has a non-Lexus approved dealer stamp, im thinking of having a full service anyway. 1 thing that strikes me though, Lexus Hanley is said in these forums according to the reviews to be one of the best service centres but you cannot find it on the official Lexus website. Is it advisable to have the Lexus serviced elsewhere e.g. Kwikfit, Halfords or Nationwide etc. and are there Lexus Approved dealers that you wont find on the website?

  13. To be honest if the warranty has already expired don't they do something where they'll check what needs fixing before you can buy the new warranty and then that is all exempt?

Saw a suggestion I think it was on here - instead of paying a warranty company just put the money into a fund for you - if you need to fix something use that - if you've not claimed then you get a free holiday at the end of it or whatever you like!

Thanks Aido, i think that makes more sense.

  14. Hi guys, I just bought 52 Reg IS 200 SE at 63k miles, I am about to take the car for a full check up/service since its my first Lexus and I may not be sure whats ok and whats not. Anyway since the warranty expired 3000miles ago, is it worth extending the warranty first then going for the service in case something major needs to be replaced or whatever and will this save me any money i.e. what is the cost difference between in servicing between a car that has warranty and one that doesn't have warranty? Also if something major needs replacing, if I have extended the warranty with a company that is not Lexus themselves, how does it work. It there a massive cost/service difference between extending the warranty with Lexus or another company such as Warranty Direct.
