  1. Surely if a throttle body is heated by the engine coolant then it's going to be just as cold as the rest of the engine when it first starts up ? Wouldn't it have to be electrically heated to have any effect when the engine is cold ?

Good point! Anyway there is no pressure drop through the throttle body as its not needed. The engine has fuel injection?? :driving:

  2. Looks good mate,

you could do with a shield over the exhaust manifold though.

I'm going to make a heat-shield for mine, I already have the Stainless steel. I got it from B&Q, if you search around any friendly store you will find some kitchen rejects( or spares). I bought a whole chimney for a cooker hood for a £10 in Stainless steel. There's more than enough for a heat shield. Its Polished on one side and Brushed on the other. :driving:

  3. I decided to fit some new number plates. I phoned around and eventually found a place in Stoke-on-Trent. They can do any size number plates even the odd size that Lexus have on the rear. They can do any style to, as long as its legal? I have a black border round mine and a GB motive on the left hand side, also had the 3D lettering.I will be fitting them tomorrow. The name of the company is Simpson & Co. and their number if anyone is interested is: 01782 212705. They have been doing it for 27 years so they know what they are doing.:driving:

  4. hi all,

well went to lexus in lincoln to get some mats for my is200,

and they no longer make them,

does anyone know where to get some original lexus black mats from ?

please help as nearly wrote my car off the other day the bloody mat moved up the floor and the accelerator stuck full on :(

    thanks

    ripper62 :)

I tried to get some new mats from Lexus of Chester and they told me they no longer make them. I phoned around and they were right. So finally got a set off E-bay, they were almost new, with eye-lets.

  5. Just wondering if it is worth using Super Unleaded in my IS200 (either BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax)......any benefits or just just worth sticking to the normal being Shell or BP 95 Ron......I never use Supermaket fuel!

What wrong with Supermarket fuel? It all comes out of the same storage tanks at the refineries. :driving:

  6. A few weeks ago I took my IS300 on a track day. It wasn't my intention to take my car on the track but to ride in other peoples cars. Well I took it around Oulton Park and I embarrassed a lot of so called fast cars? I can say that I'm very pleased with the handling and the performance(for a standard car). Even some of my friends that I took around were surprised. Can't wait now to get a S/S exhaust for it( going to M.I.J. who do a very good job) :driving:

  7. Its different on the 300 mate,

on the 200 theres three sensors. the two in the manifold control timing etc, and the last one is just checking the cats working. i replaced it with an o2 simulator

Thank you for that! There seem to be 4 sensors on the manifold, 2 either side of the pre-cats and before the main cat. Where can I get an O2 simulator and where do I put it? ( no silly answers please !!! ) :)

  8. And a plain decat pipe (also from powerflow) including standard Cat moded to bolt back in was £100.

Suppose it saves the hassle though

If I keep my car next year I'll be doing this an asking Powerflow, i want it so I can put it all back to stock afterwards.. got them to do a smiliar thing from the cat to the back box :)

So Stav is your system just straight through all the way now, did powerflow go from the manifold to the cat? Then take out the cat etc?

Hi, if you take out the 2 pre-cats what do you do with the lamda probes that are in front and behind the pre-cats? I'm thinking of taking off my pre-cats and want to know whats involved. I have a IS300 by the way! :)

  9. There's a fine crack developed in the drives wing mirror glass (and it's loosing it's silver) - it's an IS300 Sportcross - and at first I was shocked reading a £75 replacement cost - and then realised that that was for a heated glass - and that it was £140 for the one that dims too (which I think mine does). Does anyone know is the same glass is used in any of the Toyota range? ...ie know of a cheaper alternative?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jack

I need a new mirror to and I've been quoted £190 + VAT. It is heated and auto-dim. Where can you get one for only £140? Terry :)
