I tried the power setting for a couple days and...the light on the dash started doing my head in so I switched it back off again. :)

I use my fingers to remove the centre vent by gripping the lower edge and pulling out and slightly upwards as described on the lexls.com tutorial site.

The lights going dim would suggest a flat Battery or possible one of the Battery leads were not refitted correctly when it was disconnected to silence the alarm.

I leave mine on economy, not sure how much of a difference, if any, it makes as I haven't tried the power setting.

It looks like you have put the temp display where the clock display should be. Was that intentional?.

I will be changing the radio, no real complaints with the factory radio, but I need a handsfree phone capability and would like MP3/ipod functionality so the most cost effective way forward is with an aftermarket unit.

I already have an amplified Infinity sub from my previous car so that is ready to go in when I change the radio.

I bought a Toyota>ISO adapter to test with a view to changing out my radio and when I tried it the subwoofer did not work. I suspect the subwoofer amplifier takes its feed from the OEM radio. I don't know which wire harness you were looking at so couldn't say that you would experience the same.

It would probably be easier to install a separate amplifier rather than try to figure out how convert the aftermarket radio signal to whatever the OEM sub amplifier needs to operate.

Thats my intention anyway.

Just out of curiosity, should the slide pins be removed when changing discs/pads?. I only ask as I changed mine today and didn't need to remove the slide pins.

No Lexus or car of any type on the photos as they were indoor shots. Not very good shots I might add, but that may be down to the "model" rather than the photographer. :eerrrmm:

Found £3.27 under the rear seat squab. Not sure how much that is in Yen.

In my previous car, among the other rubbish I found a camera memory card. Curiosity got the better of me and I stuck it in the card reader of my PC and lets just say that being the gentleman that I am I deleted the images to preserve an unknown lady's honour.

I intentionally bought cheap as I have always wanted to try an LS ever since they were first introduced, but I wanted a car I could walk away from should a big repair bill hit the mat. I think the filthy condition of the car was the main reason for the low price, but a weekend spent cleaning it has turned up a gem. I finally had a look through the service receipts a couple days ago and it is shocking how much money the first owner spent on the car.

The new car order form for my 1993 shows an on the road price of £37,201. I bought the car a couple weeks ago for £750, that's a massive depreciation hit for someone and a massive savings for me.

In aircon systems I have had experience of in the past, if the ambient temperature is too cold the compressor won't engage. Not sure if this is also the case with the LS, but I can't see it being any different as it is a safety measure to prevent compressor damage.

Last regas I had done (on a previous car) was at Kwik-Fit for about £40. Normally I wouldn't go near Kwik-Fit, but all they are doing is connecting the machine, entering details of the car and the machine automatically measures and recharges the system. They aren't doing any actual "work" on the car so pretty hard to mess it up.

No data listed for the 1997 model, but the 1998 model had an on the road price of £49,999 + delivery charges of £525 according to MSN cars.
