  1. Is this common guys......

With my Lexus I have no bids, 2 watchers and 4 days to go on eBay? I would have thought being a Lexus IS200 Sport I would have had a bid and a good few watchers by now due to her extensive history and the condition she is in? I must say though I'm not the best with cars thus me asking!!

  2. Looks fine :)

Although do you really get 32-34 mpg around town? If so, you're probably the only one!

Thank you, glad my ad' is ok! Lots of searching on here for all the info :D

My neighbour who owns an Evo 7 did a test to see what my average MPG was over a month with two full fill ups. This is using a few A roads and some town driving, it worked out at 32.9MPG. The reason for this was when I bought her I found her to be really good on fuel, a lot better than the reviews I had read. She is only a tad more to run than my previous car which was a 206 1.6  All the reviews said how bad they were and that a BMW 320 E36 was faster and better on fuel, I have to disagree.......Also a far better car than a 3 series BMW!

  3. I had very similar and it was written off, insurance company gave me £3600 i was happy with that, they seemed to be going for between 3 & 3.5k

Thank you for the reply :)

If I aim for the £3,500 mark then as she is in mint condition. I am wondering where to advertise.....local paper, Autotrader etc?? I have heard of horror stories about selling cars via eBay, don't know how true they are though.

  4. Hi all :)

I'm in need of some help here!

It is time to sell my Lexus IS200 Sport due to the fact she hardly gets used so going to buy myself a cheap old banger to get me to work and back!

Ok.....Before I get shot down in flames I'm a Mental Health Nurse so my knowledge on cars really is not the best so please be kind to me :P

My Lexus has covered 94,897 miles. fully stamped Lexus service history, 9 months MOT and 3 months Tax. In excellent condition inside and out. 4 new tyres that have covered around 800 miles, full service carried out 1,670 miles ago. She is in the silver although looks a teeny bit like gold is in there!! She is a 2002. Very well loved and cared for. My Sister's Husband works for Aston Martin and valet's it for me using Autoglym products.

Any ideas on price would be great

    Michele

  5. Just wondering if it is worth using Super Unleaded in my IS200 (either BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax)......any benefits or just just worth sticking to the normal being Shell or BP 95 Ron......I never use Supermaket fuel!

What wrong with Supermarket fuel? It all comes out of the same storage tanks at the refineries. :driving:

My Husbands Escort Cosworth tuned to 372bhp would jerk like mad on Supermarket fuel! Also my old Corrado VR6 would not run well off supermarket fuel, they dont put in the additives according to a friend of ours that works on the tech side for Aston Martin.

Found in the past that Shell Optimax is excellent, but this was on the Corrado with some mods that made 201bhp on rollers and my Husbands Escort Cosworth. Just wondered if it would be that bit better on a Lexus 2.0 6 cylinder 24v, think mine is 153-4bhp but not had her RR'd yet.

  6. I have just bought a 51 IS200 Sport...... Really happy!!!!!!

The garage is taking my Pug 206 in PX so hopefully collecting tomorrow as he is going to give it a full valet and put 12 months MOT on.

I have just found out that there is an IS200 Estate..... This is fantastic news as my Husband loves the IS200 but needs an Estate for our dogs, Bullmastiff & German Shepherd.

Are the Estates any good, what kind of boot space do they have and I take it they share the same parts like brakes, exhaust etc as the saloon?

  7. Mine could be going up for sale ;) has the cheap tax year and has only 72k on the clock, fsh/cambelt changed/front discs changed/clutch/changed/flywheel all recently :)

Interested!! Could you Email me some pics..... also I see you're in MK, same as!

What kind of money would you be looking for?

  8. Thanks for all the help, what a helpful forum :)

I like the dark metalic blue and the Sport model. If anyone see's or knows one in the Milton Keynes, Oxford, Northampton, Watford area that would be great, any links from eBay etc.

I have had a look at only the one so far. This was bought and serviced throughout from HR Owen, but has 131k and has had 1 previous owner. He still has original reciept from HR Owen for £25,759. The chap selling it is a trader. He has had 4 brand new tyres on, all 4 alloys re-furbed and says he had a new clutch, but no reciepts to prove this......hmmm!

It drove very well, although engine sounded a bit tappety when the bonnet was opened, otherwise could not hear it..... He wants £3,750 and not open to offers and no Tax.

Is it me or are others a bit wary of buying a car from a trader with no warranty?!!!!

  9. There's a handy guide on things to look for in the Knowledge Base, here.

I can't really give you any price advice, but remember it's a buyer's market at the moment, so have a good look around, there are loads of used cars out there. Good luck !

Excellent..... thanks for the link :)

I have heard exhaust sytems are expensive to replace, is this correct, are there any other sytems like Blue Flame I think they are called which are better priced than standard fittment?

  10. Hi all

I have never owned a Lexus before so am in need of help of what to look for when buying one......which is now!! I have £4,500 to spend on one. What are the main things on an IS200 I should look for and when out on a test drive?

I have seen a nice one for £3,750. Its an IS200 Sport. Wheels have just been re-furbed, new tyres, 1 owner from new, full Lexus service history......but she has 131,000 miles and my husband looked at the exhaust an it does not look that good.....bit rusty, backbox and middle section, Other than that it is in very good condition inside and out. This car is from a trader and he wont budge on price. It has 10 months MOT and no Tax.

    Thanks in advance

  11. Thought I would say a quick hi as i'm new!

I live in Milton Keynes, married, have 2 kids, 3 cats and 2 dogs....... German Shepherd & Bullmastiff, like big dogs......and my username kind of gives it away what I do for a living!!

I'm looking to buy an is200. I have a Pug 206 at mo but thats up for sale. My husband has a Toyota Avensis Estate for the dogs as they wont be travelling in the Lexus!
