  1. Does anybody know what I need to convert my car to HID lights ? Is it just bulbs ?

Ive been on eBay looking and there is literally thousands of different ones for sale and all different prices.

I dont know which to go for and how much to spend

    Thanks in advance ;)

    Steve

  2. Hi guys, I was just wondering what I can do to get my IS200 to go faster, I have noticed it is really slow (This is an observation and not a complaint) Im over the moon with the car apart from a few niggles here and there which Im going to sort before I mod the car.

I want to start looking for things and pricing things up to give the Lex abit more 'GO'....Is there anything I can do without supercharging or turboing as I dont want to go down that route yet. Im sure I read somewhere about remapping, haS anyone done this to an IS200 ?

    Cheers,

    Steve

  3. I know what you mean mate, My last 3 cars were....Last one - VW Golf 1.9 GT TDI one before EP3 Civic Type 'R' and one before that VW Golf TDI SE.

All three could shift but the VW's had plenty of torque where as the Type 'R' was a revvy lil bugger.

Compaired to those 3 the lexus is really sluggish....BUT I wouldnt swap it for any of those three now, Im just gutted I didnt get a Lexus years ago.

Im not in as good a financial position as last year (Credit Crunch etc). Ive only spent 2k on buying my IS200 which is going to be abit of a project as I go along but last year I was able to spend 7k on the Civic Type 'R'....I said to my Dad earlier this evening that I wish Id have spent 7k on a lexus last year instead of the Civic.

    Soz for my waffling lol.

  4. my TRC OFF light has been flashing for quite some time now. I mentioned it in another thread but it hasnt bothered me really. Had my mechanic read the codes off the car but funnily enough everything came up fine. No error codes were read at all. When the car is turned off the error goes away but then when ur driving and reach near 30mph the light starts flashing and will continue to flash until the engine is turned off. My mechanic said that its probably a sensor as well but the thing thats confusing me is that how do I know which sensor it is coz i'm guessing theres 4 sensors, one for each wheel? Is there any way to check which sensor is faulty?

Its just the TRC OFF light on mine aswell, Its just flashes on and off, Mine comes on as soon as the car is started though and carries on until the engine is switched off.

I dont want to take it to lexus for fear of getting spanked for something which is probably a little problem.

  5. No any decent garage should be able to get you the part and fix it, certainly doesnt have to be Lexus.

There is the occasional meets in this area mate, should be some more coming now its summertime.

though its always fun to travel to meets.

you should come down to Santa pod for Japshow in June.

    Stav

Yeah Id definately be up for the santa pod show, I wont be doing any runs though as its not the fastest cat Ive owned lol

  6. The car looks sweet mate, What wheels are they and do you get the big rear reg plate from the dealership, Mine has a small rear plate.

    i got plates from demon.co.uk

    compliments the rear perfectly

Cheers mate I'll check the website out for the plates.

Are the wheels OEM Lexus items, Mine has the 17" 5 spokes.

Sorry for all the questions, Its just Im totally new to Lexus, Only had mine 5 days lol....I am learing though.

  7. Thats being young for you mate, When I was youre age I had to pay through the nose on insurance....1500 aint bad on a 2.0 Accord, I was paying 1200 on a 1.2 Nova when I was your age and that was 11 years ago.

Im sure you can get the price down on the IS200 with a little bit of searching but dont expect to get the same sort of price as your Honda though.

    Good luck mate.

  8. Hi Stav, Ive only had the car since last Thursday and there are some little niggles but the car was cheap. I knew about the tc light when I bought it and the previous owner said in his year of ownership it had always done this and he thought it was a sensor.

It didnt bother me when buying the car but now im hooked on my Lexus and Im looking to get all the little niggles sorted out.

In answer to your question though, Im not sure about if its been lowered....But I dont think so mate.

  9. Hey welcome to LOC mate, Im a newbie myself and have taken the plunge and bought a 2000 'W' reg IS200 Sport in the colour Platinum ice.

Im not the best for giving buying advise out but just look for signs of accident damage ec, I dont think these cars rust but have a look anyway (it could be due to poor accident repair if there is)

There seem to be quite a few out there with poor or no service history at all and I think this is a testament to the build quality, Thet just keep going.

I paid £2k for mine and Ive spent £400 so far and will probably have to spend another £200 for it to be as near to perfect as possible....The money Ive spent though is service cost, wheel refurb....Im going to replace one front shocker and have the coolant changed....All this is just where and tare though and it doesnt bother me as its just maintainence and nothing serious.

You wont be dissapointed, Mines the smoothest car Ive ever driven and Ive driven many nice cars.

  10. Malky IS200 Cheers mate, Is the clutch on its way out then ? Do I have to change the clutch if I can live with the chirping noise ?

Thanks aswell Steviewevie the noise sounds like it comes from the underneath (Very much the same noise as when your switch your car off from hot and it starts to cool down) but a constant noise while running.....I should mention it carries on aswell after Ive switched the engine off.

What you said about coolant though could be the problem as when it was at a local Toyota dealership the other day for a service they put an advisory onthe service sheet for a coolant change.

Tommy20165 Cheers to you aswell mate, The noise has stopped now but I think your diagnosis was right and if the noise comes back I'll be sure to try what you said.

    Cheers guys.
