  1. Ok excellent.... We will be parking in a field near to car park 3, so we have reserved parking :)

The BBQ is the other side of car park 3...

I am getting there around 10, so 11 is probably a good time, give us time to get everything running.

See you there, in the 80 F weather, lol

  2. Sorry guys,

I have not been around due to a few relationship problems.... It is still on... I have told everyone to get there from about 10am. I will probably be there all day, so anytime after 10.

If you need my number for anything.... 07889140038

    Cheers

  3. Just a quick reminder about this BBQ as it is getting close, it would be good to have as many people there as possible from here supporting the LOC.

It is free food and a should be a great day out. If you have any questions, please ask.

    Cheers

  4. I think that the best date for this would be Sunday 21st June, which should give everyone plenty of notice and currently there is nothing happening on that date as far as I can see.

    So...

Sunday 28th June at Frimley Lodge Park

BBQ with the Mercedes-Benz Club. Bring whoever you want and bring your own drinks. Me and my dad will be sorting out the general BBQ food (burgers, sausages etc..) although you can bring your own if you want to.

We will be in Car Park 3, please see map here - http://www.surreyheath.gov.uk/leisure/park...eylodgepark.htm

Any questions, post or PM me :winky:

    Cheers

    Nick

  5. Ok, According to the MB Club calendar they have only 2 major events in June, which leaves Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th, Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st, or Sunday 28th

I am ok for any of them, any preferences? If not I will just choose a date.

  6. Cheers for the help mate. I managed to do it, easier than I thought it would be!

Pics - before and after... I polished the 2 horns up a week or 2 ago, and I think they look quite good behind the new grill tbh in a weird way, lol. I may think about moving them sometime in the near future though.

  7. I ordered my sport grille today from Lexus Guildford (£41.19+VAT), so should have it on friday. I did read somewhere that there is a guide to the swap (removing/installing) but cant find it? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I haven't even had chance to look at it yet to see how its held on.

Also, the grille matches the bumper vent (directly below the main grille). How can I remove the grill on the bumper vent so I can put some mesh in there?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Funny you mention this, I’m sitting at work staring out of the window looking at the beautiful clear blue skies, fluffly white clouds, and the glorious sun, and I’m thinking “ Why am I stuck indoors :( I want either an ice cream or a BBQ !!!”

This sounds like a nice idea, and I would be interested, however I have no wife or kids, and I don’t really want to be the only Lexus owner there.

If there are a few more people from here that are up for going, then I think there could be some good banter, with some good food !

lol, well I would be at least one other Lexus owner there... :winky:

  9. Sunday 28th June

BBQ at Frimley Lodge Park, Surrey

Website for map of park and address of the park - http://www.surreyheath.gov.uk/leisure/park...eylodgepark.htm

We will be in Car Park 3, which is right next to the BBQ's.

Me and my dad will be providing the general BBQ food (burgers/hot dogs etc.). You can bring your own if you wish though, also bring your own drinks or you can buy them at the park restaurant/shop.

    Any questions, just ask!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

I know I have not been around for long, and haven't been on a huge deal due to me being off work with Sciatica at the moment, but I suddenly had an idea which I am wondering if anyone would be interested in...

As you may or may not know before my IS300 I had a couple of Merc's and was in the MB club, I am beginning to really like the LOC and have slowly been trawling through the thousands of posts on here to try and get to know everyone and learn more about these amazing cars. I have not yet been to any meets or met any members in person, so I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to meet some members -

A joint meet with the Mercedes-Benz Club in Frimley, Surrey! It would not only give members from here the chance to meet and mingle with one-another but also the chance to chat with members from another car club. The MB Club I have been told by a few people sound like they are all snobs, I can tell you they really aren't, they are all down to earth and love cars just like you guys. I think it could be a really good day out for everyone.

The idea is to have a day-long BBQ at Frimley Lodge Park(you wouldn't have to stay all day); the car park is next to where the barbecues are and there are a few picnic tables, plus a children's play area and a few park-type fields nearby. Me and my Dad (who is the regional officer for the MB Club) could get some food and charcoal together & we could have a really good meet there.

It would be 'take turns in cooking the food' to be fair to everyone, but it wouldn't really be that hard if we got a lot of people. If you have them you could bring the wife and kids and possibly even the dog? It is a country park with plenty of space to run around and plenty to do.

Could you let me know your thoughts on this please, if there is some interest I will speak to my Dad about organising a date with the MB Club.

    Cheers guys

  10. Yep it is just the manufacturers warranty on the alloys unfortunately, it's the stereo warranty that was extended to 5 years.

The later 11 spoke alloys were actually better on the corrosion front than the original 5 spokes, but alloy corrosion is just something we have to live with in this country - all our cars have corrosion on them, it's not just a Lexus problem.

Yeh true, I have had worse alloys before, they aren't all that bad tbh just a few bubbles here and there. I just thought if I could get them done for free then I may as well. I know a good refurbisher anyway so may get them done. :winky:

  11. Ok, I rang Lexus Guildford this morning about this and they said the wheels are only covered for 3 years under the standard manufacturers warranty. No extensions on the wheels.

Although he was willing to take some details down and is going to put a case forward to Lexus to see if they will pay for the refurb/replacements or pay for part of it. He has said the chances of this are highly unlikely due to me being the second owner of the car though. <_<

So for anyone wondering in the future, it is only 3 years unfortunately. I am guessing this is the same for all Lexus dealers across the UK, but I have only rang one.

  12. Ok, not that you would want to know now hando has said it is the v1 (thanx btw), but I got it from a guy on eBay...he bought it a while back and has been sitting in his garage after writing off his IS300. Never been used, which is why I got it so cheap. There are various other ones exactly the same on eBay. I was aware that the V1 had problems after reading on here but a lot of the eBay ads, including the one for this kit do not have the version listed and stupidly I didn't ask. Rushed into it!

Oh well, if it breaks I will see if K&N will replace it, if not I can always redesign it and put a new one on.

I have seen the version 2 offered in blue/red/chrome/black though, with the heat shield on. I was going to make my own heat shield up for this one soon too.

A bit annoyed now, but I've got it and now have to wait for it to break, lol

As for the sound.....Amazing difference, I will record it when I get a minute and upload it but it will do it no justice as the sound is always so muffled on my recordings  you have to hear it in the flesh to appreciate the difference.

    Cheers

    Nick

  13. As promised to VVC MATT, pics of my K&N Typhoon. The first of many mods to my IS300! Amazing sound now.

Yes, it is blue on a black car, but it was either pay £270 for a chrome or black kit or pay £140 for a blue one :) I can always re-coat it, but I think it looks ok as it is, brightens up the engine bay.

  14. Thanx for all your welcomes!! :D

I got more welcomes on here than on any other forum. lol

I will try and get some pics up this week, it really isn't much different over standard at the moment, but that will be changing ;) Not that it doesn't look amazing as it is.

  15. Hi mate, would you be able to take a picture of your typoon kit fitted as im trying to decide what intake kit to use on my 300 thanks.

Yeh no problem bud! I will do it tomorrow as long as it isn't raining.
