  1. Have always ran the Lexus on Compact 2 Continentals until this morning, I hit some debris lying on the motorway last night and by the time i got home a few miles away the two drivers side tyres had burst, went this morning to the garage and have now got two new Uniroyals on the rear, still two continentals on the front.

Loved the continentals but they are expensive, the Uniroyals will be under scrutinity for a while to see how they fair, anyone any thoughts on them?

  2. Had the exact same problem with my 04 plate IS200, after much head scratching someone asked if i had any condensation on the inside windows which i did after all the snow we had, i think with all the snow getting dragged into the footwell it caused condensation which inturn activated the alarm during the night(motion sensor)I bought a moisture box from a caravan company and left it in the car for 6 weeks and had to empty it a right few times so deffo was moisture in the car.

Another thing i did was change the Battery in the fob, never had any bother since i done these two things.

  3. Hi guys, its been a while since i have posted so hi to everyone

Took the IS200 to Lexus Edinburgh last week to enquire about a service, had the car for two years now and despite only having done 4,500 miles in that time thought it would be time to get her looked at, car has 35,000 miles on it, the first 3 stamps are in the book but the last one being 3 years ago(Lexus Aberdeen) The ever so nice lady didnt even break sweat when she quoted £1200, this is including getting the timing belt done which she says should be after 6 years or 60,000 miles, whatever comes first.(the car is an 04 plate)

Toyota was my next port of call, explained to them what i was after and they quoted £480 all in, including a MOT, now for the exact same service(this being the 40,000 service, is this a big one?)what do the experts on here reckon, obviously its a lot of money but dont think its going to be worth it keeping it Lexus stamped, what would you do?

A wee side note, when the timing belt get changed is it worth getting the water pump done at the same time? The toyota garage are saying alot of the time when they do the timing belts on the IS200 the water pump usually shows signs of leakage, this make sense?

Thanks for reading and would love to hear from folks with a bit more car savvy than myself.

  4. Well folks a wee update as it seems the problem has been solved, i dont really know what has cured the problem but here is a few things i done.

First off i ordered a new fob Battery, £1 from amazon replaced this as soon as it arrived, whilst waiting on this arriving i purchased a moisture box, this basically just draws all the moisture with-in the car into it, I sat it in the passenger footwell and it has collected some water into the bottom tray.

Now the temps have risen the icing inside the car has been eliminated(I think the icing up off the inside window panes has been triggering off the alarm through the motion sensor)

I also removed the magic trees that were hanging from the rear view mirror, someone told me even with slight movement from these its enough to kick the alarm in.

A week has now passed and no alarm going off, as i say a combination of the above seems to have cured my alarm problems.

  5. Hi Folks. A Happy New Year to everyone, hope you have a good one.

    My problem

With all the bad weather we have had up in Scotland i never used the Lexus and used a Jeep to get about.

The car was parked up for 3 weeks and i only started using it at the week-end, now when i lock the car up using the fob after a few minutes the alarm goes off with no-one near it, i have changed the battery with the spare fob but still the alarm will sound itself. The voltage on the dash is still showing just under 15(im sure this is correct)

Anyone any idea why this alarm which was working fine before the bad weather is now starting to play up.

    Thanks.

    Happy new year!

Have you had any bad condensation? Damp caused havoc with mine, although I did have a leak from the sunroof which didn't help

Coming to think of it the few days i did go and start the car up i had been dragging clumps of snow into the footwell which basically just turned to ice with the minus freezing temps, back window is misted up aswell.

  7. Still cant believe the quality of Lexus, have only had it for under a year but I still grin like a cheshire cat when my butt slides into the comfy leather seats.

Love all the gizmos like heated mirrors, heated seats, climate control, snow buttons/trc control,6th speed manual box,the lovely purr of the engine and the feeling of safety.

The sound system although standard is quality, the ride quality is top notch and the braking is swift.

Only have 28000 miles on a 04 plate so havent really had any outlay in money terms but im dreading the next service. :whistling:

    All in all im hooked.

  8. Thanks lads, it is a 04 plate with full leather interior, 17 inch alloys(greyish) and has the elec sunroof.

All this time i have been thinking mine is the base model :whistling:

What about my log-book, anyone think this matters it dosent say SE, its just got IS200.

    Thanks again.

  9. Hi folks. Just testing the water here as I maybe have to sell my baby(IS200)-Maybe my employment is under threat and to free up some cash this will be the easy way to do it.

Immaculate condition inside and out (always garaged-I have another car I just use for everyday travel back and forth to work 2 miles away)

    Full black leather interior

  10. Cheers m8,i think the only thing i will change just now is the suspension/springs,would like to lower it a wee bit.

I wasnt really that keen on red cars before but i like this in red,the mileage on it kinda made my mind up.It came from up your area aswell Aberdeenshire.
