  1. I don't get the point really and I think they look ugly. Sorry, you did ask ! :)

Surely they're not going to help you with Gatso cameras and the like, which take a pic as you go past, i.e. from the rear. Maybe with SPECS though. But I would have thought it'd be an open invitation for the police to pull you.

Err. I think youre all missing the point!

The tilters have been around for YEARS!

Theyre designed for Japan (mostly) where they have front facing cameras (remember CLarkson driving the GTR and the Bill Oddie Mask?) :D

As you speed up, the plate tilts by 90 degress, so you cant actually see it.

Ergo, they cant tell the Reg, you dont get a ticket! :)

Stewie has kinda got the idea tho...

  2. I don't think there's much chance of most things fitting. Altezza to IS is generally ok. GS Mark I uses the same brakes as the IS/Altezza. But I'd be pretty suprised if things like seats etc fitted.

Of course with brakes you could always take the caliper and then make up some new brackets to mount it.

Its not a stupid question. For example, ALL the Skyline brakes and 200sx brakes are interchangeable, as are the seats if you fix one bracket.

  3. For dinner and maybe a movie?

    ;)

    ONLY JOKING!!!!!

Im in Essex and am looking at getting an RS200 manual. But I have NO IDEA what theyre like to drive. There are a few IS200s on the trader I intend to go look at and have a go in - just to see if I actually could live with the economics offered within the cabin etc and make sure im comfortable with the driving position etc.

So. Anyone in or around ESSEX/SUFFOLK are (or anywhere nearer than the nearest car for sale to me which atm I think is Hounslow! )

    Cheers in advance :)

    im in suffolk mat

where abouts are you in essex and do i know you from the SXOC ????

    Merlin

Yes mate, you probably know me from SXOC! I remember a Merlin :D (vaguely - name rings a few bells!)

    Drop me a PM :)

    thought so !

did you have the sill80 with an rb in it ?

BLIMEY! Youre proper old school! :o

    Yeh thats me.

THen I had the 'Refresher' S14 and then the S15 which went last week :)

Maybe I should put some pics up of the old jallopies....

U had an S15 which went last week :crybaby:

I have an Altezza....BUT.... i want an S15.... Get it back :winky: lol

LOL. Ive been into S bodies for ten years mate. Time for a change. Been there, done everything. S13 Sileighty (with RB), S14 drifter and S15 - as well as PS13s and S14 breakers along the way...

  4. Not as yet mate no.

Im with A Plan on the S15 (still got the policy going for precisely this reason)

I was hoping some of the mainstream insurance co's might do it. But a lot of them wont insure imports

  5. Anyone got any tips?

Who seems to be the cheapest? Im just looking at quotes now and (apart from the fact half the onlineones wont take an Altezza as they dont do imports) it seems bloody expensive! More so thatn the 350bhp Silvia I just sold! LOL!:D

  6. Well, I wouldnt look twice for a Lexus as theyre just way too slow (and although the 300s are more akin powerwise to the Altezza - I want a manual!)

So Im looking at al Altezza RS200 as my next car.

Its gonna feel slow compared to my 350bhp Silvia, but I want ONE car for all seasons and I think the Altezza might be it. We'll see. Going for a spin in one next week :)

  7. Yeah a different shade of silver could be nice. Cos at the moment it doesnt match thebody work, but its not different enough to contrast. I've got a couple of spare wheels that both need refurbing so I could try a different colour on them and see what they look like.

Don'y suppose anyones got any smoked head/tail lights going begging? Any one pics pics of smoked lights on a Plat Ice car? I need some inspiration.

    Thanks for the replies

    Gareth

    WHeel colour is quite important!

Dark colours make the wheel look smaller remember. And white makes 17s look like 18s! :D

  8. Word of advice.

It sounds like youre buying from a dealer and its should be OK. However, if youre buying private, bear this in mind that happened to me on SUnday...

Here's a copy of a mail I ended up selling Trading Standards...

Dear Ms *****, as discussed I went to look at the following:

Autotrader Ad: (Deleted for this post peeps ;) )

I cant remember his name. Little Asian guy - about 5ft2 tall so not hard to remember!

He said he needed to leave the country this week (tomorrow) so Id be quick!

BMW 2003(03) 330d SE. 87k 1 owner from new. Up for £4700. Said he'd take £4500 as he needs to money quick... Hmmmmm

The car itself is in good condition for the miles I think. Had a bit of paint on the rear tho, but Id done a Text CHeck on it and it came up clear so all good.

    MOTs as such:

    18/3/07: 73687

    12/3/08: 80451

    6/5/09: 87605

Service history (there are8 entries but Ill just give the later ones):

    26/5/06: 53882

    27/3/07: 64301

    15/2/08: 74286

    18/2/09: 85185

Now, look closely (like we did) and youll see an annomily(sp)!!!

    MOTd 18/3/07 @ 73687. Serviced 27/3/07 @ 64301!!!

    Serviced 15/2/08@ 74286. Motd 12/3/08 @ 80451!!!

Err, so not only has it LOST miles in the space of a month, the following year its done 650 odd miles in 11 mths and 6000 the follwoing mth:wack:

Needless to say, I walked away and thought I would call the reputable BMW franchise tomorrow (service shut on Sunday). In the mean time I went on the VOSA website and checked the car via its current MOT...

I advise ANYONE to use this in future!

    http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECH...ory-Request.jsp

You will need the Reg and basically the log book / current MOT Cert number.

For this car (and I suggest you try this)

    Test Number: 571926829113

Have a look (copy and paste)

Or if you want - heres it copied and pasted and what they say about the car:

This completes the test history for the above vehicle as recorded on VOSA's MOT Computerisation Database

If it hadnt have been for the Service history annomily, I reckon I might have had it. It looked legit mileage wise.... :wack:

The service history was all from BMW Stevenage 'Specialist Cars Ltd' 01438 ******. THey have never seen the car but the BMW database confirmed it was last serviced in Feb 2009 @ 168k miles.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance, but Id rather that you made a call to him and made out you were intersted in the car and went from there, rather than just turn up on his door and use my name etc as proof....

    Thanks

    Matt

Use the VOSA site if you can. Could save your *****!

    :)

  9. Thanks Dave, thats a comprehensive reply!

So I think if I import, it might have to be a 1999.

Now to find one reasonably priced!

Ive talked to a couple of dealers and I think theyre not bull****ting too much when they say that theyre not making so much money on them now... Saying that the forecourt prices have probably gone up to compensate the cheeky ba$tards! :D

    Thanks again.

    ANyone else?
