  1. It depends on how much money you got to spend as it wouldn't be a cheap conversion as the mountings are different to start with, you got different wiring looms and ecu and I don't believe the gearbox from your IS200 will mate up to the 2JZ either.

It would more than likely be more powerful from the offset however and you could turbo it later on, of course depends how much it costs will factor this in as you may well be better off with a 2JZ-GTE to start with so you get best of both worlds.

I believe monster matt has done the GTE conversion so would have a better idea though.

  2. I have the auto IS300 and would definately miss the ability to change gears without the e-shift ability, i'm not an auto box man myself usually but don't mind this although having the scooby now enjoy the gear shifting and just like the ability to choose the gear when i want it, like when your in a bend keeping the revs high at a constant acceleration to keep the back end stuck down and then it changes gear putting you in a sticky situation. I must admit though it's good when your stuck in a traffic jam so your clutch foot doesn't get sore :) so on the whole it's got is pros and cons.

  3. Alright Shah

It is the way forward :) I always liked the idea of keeping the same engine in the car so it was original, hence turboing the NA. I was tempted with the SRT too, the issues were thought that above the cost of buying and importing it there is installation, there is also the probabilty of fabrication needed for the downpipe as their steering rack is the other side. There are quite a few parts that are oversized for the actually requirement of the conversion like size of injectors, turbo (which isn't named only a spec'd one etc. It is realistic that that it would be quite laggy fine if your running the strips but not for everyday use.

I would be wary of the advertised engine as I looked at one from that company before and they were saying it had been uprated internally etc because of this part attached which was all wrong as it was only a japanese gimmick, saying it balances the camshafts!! The kit supplied by SPC would be Garrett turbo, AEM management and other branded parts and all new, of course it depends on budget so if you get good prices for the other parts it would be cheaper.

It would be best to uprate the injectors and fuel pump to get the best efficiency from the engine otherwise it'll starve and you won't get most power and smooth running.

I don't think the sprag clutch is a necessity but i would definately install a transmission cooler to assist the internals of the transmission and if needs be at a later date look at a valve body upgrade, which replaces the inners of the transmission that take the fluid to each gear making greater pressure thus increasing the speed of gear changing and less pressure on the clutch!

I'll PM you list and estimated costings.

    Cheers

  4. Hi,

I've used the search on here and my.IS. So far have found out about a lot of companies in the states who sell Turbo Kits for the IS300, but not anyone in the UK.

Obviously there is the option of fitting a 2JZ-GTE but from what I've read it's more work than fitting a Turbo kit to the 2JZ-GE.

Anyone know any tuning companies in the UK that sell Turbo Kits for the IS300, or even perhaps the 2JZ-GE (NA Supra) and I can fabricate the boost hosing.

    Cheers

    Hi Mate,

I have done extensive research into turbing the IS300 and there is no specific kits you can get in the UK unfortunately.

I would suggest that any of the US kits aren't that great unless you pay a lot of money i.e. for the SRT one which after import tax etc adds up!! The cheaper ones like XS power are good for a cheap power upgrade but not always very reliable, the roller bearing breaks down and the manifolds have been known to lose bits of weld inside causing damage.

There is hope - I have used SPC Horsham who did a lot of research, this year for me, and came up with a really good package (all UK sourced parts so you get that extra confidence in warranties etc) for my car which they'd be able to do to yours, as unfortunately circumstances dictated that I didn't go ahead, producing a relaible 400hp and about 370ft/lb torque. I would suggest talking to them. This route is cheaper and easier than doing an engine conversion to a GTE

There is also a dedicated site for NA to turbo the 2JZ-GE - CLICK HERE

I have quite a lot of info if you want to ask any questions.

  5. The driver who has been involved in a road traffic accident when damage occurs to another vehicle must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give their name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle, i.e. index number.

If for any reason the driver of the car does not give his name and address, they must report the accident.

A person who fails to comply with the above is guilty of the offence.

If they have not or will not do this then you should remind the police of your report and continue down this line, why should you lose out for someone else’s incompetence. I would advise keeping the text messages as they are a type of evidence especially if it goes to court.

The only thing I can foresee which I may have missed is whether it happened on private land (i.e. drive) or on a road or public place, the law requires on a road or public place, have you also told your insurance company, give them her registration number as they can access details.

  6. They are from myis.net but believe same as the is200

Front bumper, Says headlight but is both

    Rear Bumper

also found this and copied from another thread for front bumper . . .

"5 mins mate....few screws along the top,one 10mm bolt either side(behind the splash guard)and a few 10mm under the car(holds the under tray to the bumper)then give it a hard pull job done..........if you have headlight washers just remember and unplug the washer pipe you will see this soon as you pull the bumper away"

    hope that helps

  7. I would firstly take it to a garage and get it pressure tested to see if the headgasket has actually blown.

Otherwise I would say that you could have the gasket done for £400. Breaking a car is always a bit of hassle to be honest.

How about taking it in for the scrappage scheme at a dealer and get a new one?

  8. As standard both are tinted, however the front wil be a lot lighter, so sometimes not niticably so, the front as standard will be allowing over 70% light in.

As said above do your windows match front and rear? Did they use a meter on your windows and if so what was the reading? They don't necessarily have to and can go on opinion albeit it'll be then need to be proven should you disagree.

As said by BAZZA, the reasons are because of reduced visibilty, more so in bad weather and night time, like wearing sunglasses you wouldn't do it, can be put under 'vision obscured.'

  9. Good evening ladies and Gents,

I've recently got my hands on a brand spank new TTE front bumper, and was waiting for some nice weather to fit... this happened this week

The bumper was an absolute bugger to fit but I managed to do it! And i'm well chuffed with the final result... :D

The second and final thing, the old bumper held the front of the engine belly plate (undershield) in place but the new TTE bumper doesn't have any fixing points.

Are there any work rounds to affix the undershield to the new TTE Bumper... as my engine belly plate tried to come off while i was driving down a dual carriageway... :crybaby: not a pleasant experince...

    Cheers

Not sure about the bit by the arch However,

I had the same on my bumper on the bottom fitting the undertray, all you need to do is find the small pre-drilled holes (they are there just very small) then drill them a bit bigger, so the plastic clips with the thread part, that you get on the undertray can fit in the hole, then screw it together.

  10. No,

wont fit without custom making all the pipework/brackets etc.

and theres better chargers out there if your gonna do all that work.

    Stav

But if you have one and don't know what to do with ?I take it off your hands :D :whistling:

No i mean, the chagers ok for the IS200 and bolt on kit,

but if your gonna do custom work to make it fit you may as well start with a better base charger?

Unfortunately I don't have one for sale bud, but Rolex has!!!

Cheers for replies Stav, wanted to check first of all and see what you mean, are Vortech one of the better ones to start with?

  11. As others have said, all you have to do is ring the insurance company and tell them the truth and go from there, they will tell you how they want to proceed and then if it is good news then so be it if they have other news then you could ask for some advice on how/if you can pursuade them otherwise on here!!

DO NOT take advice from people about making up stories you will more than likely get found out then it's a whole world of ****!!

I wish you all the best, will be worth posting some pics as there are some good people on here who may be able to help!

  12. Yeah I tried admiral, quite impressed with the quote, came back as 1100 for all three cars, with me and the gf driving all 3, with commuting, which I thought was quite good. And you can choose who gets the NCB for each car. So If I do get another car, I may go for that.

    Thanks for the replies

    Gareth

That sounds pretty good mate, glad it's helped, good that you can choose who gets the NCB too.
