  1. I have a 56 400h and have learnt the hard way not to use any electrical devices (radio, DVD, etc) on the car unless the engine is turned on (although it may not actually be running). I've had the car for four years now, the Battery under the bonnet loses power to start the engine very quickly ie the READY message is not displayed and tells me to put the gearshift in P to start even though it is.

Also if I go away on a business trip, then i have had the problem after three or four days leaving the car standing.

I don't know if this is the original Battery, but suspect it maybe so I think this Battery needs to be replaced as the loss of charge seems to happen quicker (twice this month) now.I have not had any issues with the main power pack which contiues to run well.

  2. I have a 56 plated RX400h with the in-car video player. Unfortunately the player failed to detect the last DVd loaded and will not now eject it. Car was in for it's 60K service today and the Lexus dealers say it needs to be replaced at a cost of over £600. There is a small pin hole with a Reset button inside but pressing the button has not forced the DVd to be ejected. Anyone else had an issue with DVds failing to eject?

  3. Just some info for anyone who needs to know. Had to replace one tyre (Bridgestone Potenza RE031 235/55/R18) on my 400h (56 plate). Got a quote yesterday from Kwikfit for £219, tried local Lexus dealer (Reading) and was quoted £159.56 + VAT, so that's going to be about £192. Rang up Bracknell Tyres and got one fitted for all in price of £149.02.

  4. I have a 56 RX400h SE-L bought 3 months ago. I recently made a 85 miles trip to Cambridge. When I got there I parked the car while I waited for some one. I had the radio on and my grandson was watching video on the DVD in the back. I had turned the engine off when I arrived, but after 15-20 minutes the dashboard display started flashing. It was a steady pulsing of the display coming on and then going off. Turning the power off and on again restarted the display flashing again. Eventually after a couple of minutes the display just went off. I called the RAC as the car would not start.

The people I was meeting turned up while I was on the phone and suggested trying to jump start the car using power leads from their car. Thankfully it started up straight away.

My question is should the Battery have gone flat after only 15-20 minutes with the radio and DVD working? Never having had a car with the DVD system installed I don't know if the system takes so much power it would flatten the Battery in 20 minutes or my Battery is suspect. The car starts everytime on all other occasions.

    Any ones thoughts gratefully accepted.

    Andy
