  1. Hi Guys

Thank you all for the constructive input. Much appreciated.

Solved the problem (for me at least). Bought an SUV !!. Not an NX I might add. :excl:

Very sad to part with the IS250. A super car. Never missed a beat & that V6 can make it move.

Wonder if the new 2L turbo charged petrol engine will be a match.

    Take Care

  2. Hi still no reply from anyone having actual experience of running on 225s all round.

Have been in touch with Michelin re their "Cross Climate" tyre. THEY say it is a summer tyre with "winter capability" compatible with any summer OR winter tyre. Of course it is not man. in 245 which would simplify everything.

  3. We are all very much aware that come the inclement weather of "winter" the IS250 auto is hopeless !!.

Have decided to try some All Weather Tyres hoping to at least keep moving throughout the so called winter months. Currently looking at the Michelin Cross Climate tyre. Pirelli Cinturato All Season

These tyres come in 225 /17 but not in 245 /17. Loading is 94 whereas the 245 loading is 95.

Has anyone run their IS250 petrol auto on 225s all round ????.

If yes what differences were noted in the car's handling.

Note. I have passed the "boy racer" years so not too concerned on ultimate grip on the edge in a corner.

    Thanks

  4. Hi

Put Hankook V12 Evo K110 on my 08 IS250 after having Dunlop Sport maxx.

They have lasted around 10K LESS miles than the original Dunlop Sport Maxx.

    Sport Maxx 31308 Front / 32520 Rear.

Hankook Front. So far 23277 / Rear changed at 22065 (down to 2mm in centre of tread. 3.5mm on outer).

Hankook quiet running & okay in wet but totally useless in any kind of winter weather.

They cost me £127.50 a corner balanced & fitted. Reckon worth paying to £150 or so for a Dunlop.

    Al.

  5. IS250.

60K coming up & the second set of alloys are beginning to blister in spots.

Have decided to get them refurbished & coloured a Metallic Gunmetal Grey.

Car colour is metallic Cardoxton Slate.

Wonder if anyone has gone for metallic grey wheels. If so could they post some pics please.

    Cheers

  6. Does anyone have the part # for the spark plugs fitted by Lexus in the 2008 model 250IS auto.

I believe they are DENSO plugs but unable to get this confirmed.

Online website has plugs advertised as suitable but will not confirm they are the same as fitted by Lexus.

    Would welcome input

    Thanks

    yamavira.

  7. 08 250IS auto.

Set off from set of traffic light as normal. Main warning light came on (no sound), message in top window "Check VSC". Also illuminated, in lhs of panel the Little engine symbol (Indicates TRC/VSC fault) illuminated & in the RHS panel "Slip indicator" light is illuminated.

Would welcome any thoughts, comments as likely or probable problem.

    Cheers

    Yamavira.

  8. Lexus are not the only man. to be ignoring the problems associated with DPFs blocking up & not regenerating. Had same problem on an 07 sportage.

Cost of DPF from main dealer £2366+vat+£160+vat for fitting !!!!!!!!!!!.

Several companies on the web can supply a DPF at less than £1K.

Alternative. If vehicle out of any warranty have the DPF core removed & the ECU remapped. Ensure everything remotely connected to the DPF such as regeneration cycle is deleted. Will be surprised at the difference. Much better throttle response & improved mpg.

The core contains precious metals. Worth money. Ask for it to be returned !!!. Take it to a scrap metal dealer & offset the remap cost.

Note. Ensure that externally everything looks as it should with sensors still in place etc otherwise it WILL FAIL the mot as equipment considered non standard

  9. New Wheels for my 250IS SE.

Have found that dealers selling used alloys want almost as much for them as a new set costs.

My wheels are 17x8JJ. PCD is 114.3. Offset ET is 45mms. Bore is 62mms.

Rather like the Asuka Gun metal wheels RD21 / Inovit Redline.

However they are not advertised in the size I have listed above.

I have just fitted a new set of Hankook tyres so would want to transfer them to any new wheels. They are 225/45 R17 & 245/45 R17.

Can I fit these tyres on 7.5JJ wheels

    Yamavira.

  10. Would appreciate help from the resident wheel experts.

    250IS Auto 08.

What are the wheel specs. for the car.

Are all 4 rims 17x8JJ or are the fronts 17x7/12JJ.

What is the PCD & offset of the wheels.

Can I fit 200IS wheels which are 16" & up the tyre profile to 55 instead of 45 to retain same rolling circumference.

Wanting to get a set of wheels/tyres for the winter & am finding it very difficult to match up wheels/tyres to suit.

What other wheels, which can possibly be bought 2nd hand, will fit onto this car.

    Thanks

  11. DPF problems. :excl:

Had a similar problem with an 07 Sportage. KIA & Local main dealer not interested despite vehicle having covered only 29800 miles & serviced at 10K intervals by main dealer. cost of replacing the DPF unit . A mere £4500, yes Four Thousand Five Hundred Pounds ( that includes VAT of course !!!!!) but not including any sensors which may need replacing.

Other companies out there can replace the DPF unit, with a 1 year warranty, for less than £1K.

  12. Hi :excl:

Never did put those new bulbs in last winter !!!. Determined to do it soon.

Question. Am I correct in assuming from the reply to my query that the High Main beam / Low Main Beam are accessible from inside the engine bay once the front engine cover has been removed.

Are the Osram Nightbreakers the best straight replacement bulbs. Looking for light. Not to concerned about a "blue tint".

    Thanks

    Yamavira.

  13. Hi

Removed the plastic engine covers to see what was needed to change bulbs. Obviously did not successfully "lock" all of the plastic holding down clips when I replaced the covers. Have lost a couple & others are loose.

Can anyone tell me where (apart from the expensive Lexus dealers) I can buy these clips please.

    Yamavira :hehe:
