  1. I posted on here a few weeks back as I am having problems with my lexus is200. It just cuts off while I am driving. I have managed to get it to do it all the time now. I have replaced the throttle body which lexus milton keynes told me was the issue but still the same problem.

When I go over 40mph the engine light comes on and the car cuts off, when I try to start it again it starts up and cuts off straight away. I got 2 codes coming up on it now, P0715 and P1320. Could any of these cause this to happen while driving over 40mph. Any help appreciated.

If there is a good mechanic near me someone could recommend I would appreciate that as well, the car has been in and out of garages and have spent over £700 now on it for diagnostics and that and still no nearer to solving the problem, please helpppp??

  2. hi guys, thanks for the info, lexynik I went to mk to bring back the is, came back on back roads and got here fine, I stayed below 40 mph though cause I did not want to risk anything happening and tried to make sure the car stayed in 1 gear for as much of the journey as possible

i have the full diagnostic report from lexus, thanks for the infor sparkystav, what would it cost me for the whole throttle body from you?

the code lexus said was still on the ecu was dtc code P1126/89 - Magnetic Clutch Circuit Malfunction

it says n the diagnostic report to 'replace throttle control motor (with magnetic clutch)

It also says: if the electric throttle control system has a malfunction the magnetic clutch separates the throttle motor from the throttle valve in order not to operate the throttle valve by the throttle motor.

If this DTC is stored the engine ecu shuts down the power for the throttle motor and the magnetic clutch and the throttle valve is fully closed by the return spring.

Sorry for the long post just wanted to see if anyone can make any sense of this

  3. I picked it up from the garage today and had a problem getting home, got stuck, called the aa and the car was towed to my house and will be towed to lexus tomorrow morning, I should have taken it to them in the first place. I will update you guys once I have found out what is the problem with it, hopefully Lexus will find out, if they can't then nobody can, thanks for everyones help so far, hopefully my next post in a few days time will be when the car is fixed

  4. i do have the relay cover, i have never asked them to take the car to lexus when i have broke down as i know it takes 10 mins and will start again, i should have called them really, never knew they have code readers, have the aa always had that?

i get 5 callouts a year with the aa, i even have breakdown repair cover that covers me up to £500 for parts and labour if it is a mechanical fault. the only thing is my cover is new and that part of the cover kicks in after 2 weeks

do you know what the crank sensors job is?

  5. lexynik i have aa cover but i am more worried about the car shutting off at motorway speeds, it wasnt a nice experience at a roundabout, motorway speeds could be worse as no breaks or power steering all of a sudden, i guess i could ask aa to take the car to lexus

rob is it easy to swap the coils around and would a faulty coil cause this problem?

mattc thanks for the sight, will get a coil from there, no crank sensor though, how much should i be paying for a crank sensor, called lexus milton keynes and keep getting promised a call back so never even got a quote and i called them about 10 times today, im not having much luck but appreicate all you guys help to get to the bottom of this

the garage that say it is the crank sensor want £124 for the sensor and £45 labour, is that a fair price you think?

  6. took it to the garage and it came up with a code that says it is the Crank Sensor. I am in a dilemma now as 1 garage says they are getting a code for a coil and 1 garage says they are getting a code for the crank sensor, also a few places seem to think from the description of the problem it is the crank sensor. Anyone know if a Crank Sensor going wrong can cause this problem?

the garage that said they came up with the coil code says they tested the cylinders and all of them were firing correctly and there was no misfire so they did not know why it came up with the code.

Advice pleasseee, I am losing hope

  7. I took it to the garage and they said the code points to coil 5 but they tested it and their is no misfiring. I have had the car for almost a year now. The previous owner said they have never experienced this before. everywhere i call tells me it is the crank sensor so I have left it with a japanese specialist mechanic to see if he can have a look at it and tell me what the problem is, if anyone does have any ideas please let me know

  8. Hi,

I am having an issue where my IS200 cuts off while I am driving and I have to leave it off for about 10-15 mins before it will start and when it does start the engine light comes on. Any ideas?

I have got the throttle body cleaned, the Battery changed and all the hoses checked for coolant. Every single time it goes to the garage they are adamant they have fixed it and low and behold it happens again. When it cuts off and I try to start it it starts for a split second then cuts off again. Once ive left it for the 10 - 15 mins it starts again with the engine light on. Today when I got it back from the mechanic it seemed fine and while I was at the car wash I decided to put on the headlights and the engine immediately cut off and wouldnt start up again for about 10 - 15 mins.

Please help and any ideas would be appreciated

    thanks

    Jason
