  1. Hello,

I want to add a roof box to my GS300. I have googled for a while looking for roof rails which would fit but there is really no choice for 06 reg whatsoever (plenty for older models - up to year ~2000 - though).

I have just given Lexus a call and they offered "Lexus" made rails for £180. No brand, no details, no type - nothing really so not very keen to buy just pair of "rails" from them.

Anyone has gone through this? Where to find a shop that sells rails that would fit to 06 reg GS?

  2. Hello,

I found today my right hand side wing mirror is broken... Called a Lexus garage and they quoted me ~£400 for a replacement since both plastic shells are ripped and the mirror cannot be repaired. It's a bit pricey and I was wondering if there are other - i.e. cheaper but reliable - options available?

    It's GS300, 06 reg - silver.

  3. That is a fair point actually, there is no actual reference to it being Lexus themselves. However the site "looks" like a Lexus site which although isn't proof itself, wouldn't it breach copyright?

It also has all the Lexus tech docs as well which seems unusual for a third party to offer free of charge - perhaps it is operated by another company but licensed through Toyota/Lexus?

I've just had a thought that the reason for this could be that this isn't a "global" Lexus site, it's only for Europe and set up by Lexus Europe so nothing to do with anyone else.

The technical docs are actually under a different domain. It looks genuine and - again - taking into account it has operated for years and feedback from people - it probably is. If there was no previous feedback I'd stay clear from it since there are tons of sites that "look" genuine if you know what I mean (if not then have a look into the Spam folder).

I have ordered the disks and now awaiting for delivery :)

  4. That site is actually Lexus, it isn't some dodgy site so you don't need to worry about ordering from them.

As long as you use the part number on your current disc to generate what the new one is you shouldn't have any problems.

You don't lose any functionality with the new disc, the point I think you've read is that the phone functions remain the same, whereas you can input navigation commands while in motion with the new disc.

    Hello,

Thank you. I just got my GS300 a few days ago and still trying to familiarize with all the features.

I'm going to order the disks now and see what happens and how it works.

By the way, the website is owned/operated/all signs lead to (delete as appropriate) to http://www.tweddle.com/ based in Belgium which barely shows any connections to Lexus. I do not have too much problem with it as I have read a lot of positive feedback from former customers. Strange though there are not any contact details, company name, errors etc., especially if it's an official website.

  5. the ste is definately genuine a lot of members reccoment you to buy from there so i wouldnt worry about it being dodgy

out of interest what version are you currently running?

Thanks. I'll give it a go then.

    Currently I have 2005-2006 ver.1

With my current version, I'm not able to play with navigation whilst driving but can make phone calls and play with audio. After reading various posts, I understand that the new version enables route alteration etc. but disables phone and audio features (when driving)? Is this correct?

  6. Hello,

Currently I have 86271-53030 disk in my sat-nav (GS 300, 06 reg). I wanted to update it to the most recent version. I have done my homework and found out the current version is the 4-disk one coded as PZ485-X03EU-09. Just to confirm - is it the right one for this model?

Many people recommend getting it from this website - http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/

I have almost ordered it but having experienced issues with this type of purchase before (i.e. incorrect version ordered) I started looking for any sort of contact details on this website and who runs it. Apparently, there are number of broken links and when going to the following section:

    Contact us -> I already ordered.. -> I did receive... -> I want a refund

there is a nice "Refund procedure":

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris..."

I couldn't find any contact detail or phone number. I'm a bit puzzled if it's genuine and whether there is any customer service behind it? How do I contact them in case of any questions/problems especially that I'm not sure if this is the right product for my satnav?

Any advice on this would be much appreciated...

    Regards,

  7. Hello,

    thank you for your replies.

I would be very concerned about the rust on a car that is only 4 years old. The wing and front "bumper"/valance should not touch to the degree that it rubs the paint off and rusts......especially since the "bumper"/valance is not metal. Check that all the gaps between panels are are equal on both sides of the car. Ask to see the V5 and contact the previous owner to see what caused this. If you buy the car the dealer will have the rust touched up and you wont see it but it could then reappear in a couple of years.

Buying from a Lexus dealer means you will get a full 12 months warranty on it but that wont cover rust unless it is rusting from "inside" the metal. The dealer told you that you don't see any rusty Lexus because they are "so well protected" so what has managed to breach that protection?

The bumper does not touch the wing, there is a gap as expected. From what I have seen, the paint peeled off a bit first revealing metal which got a bit of rust - is not the case that rust started under the paint coat first (i.e. typical "bubbles"). I'll check gaps again though...

There are two recalls that I know of for the 2006 GS300 one for the rear brake caliper replacement and one for electric power steering linkage replacement. These should have been done for free already as a matter of course. Make sure that you confirm with Lexus that they have been done. My 2006 GS300 was always serviced by Lexus before I bought it so I assumed that any recalls would have already been done but they were not. My car went into Lexus last year for both recalls free of charge. Make sure yours has been done.

Will do. Where can I find the record this recall work has been actually carried out?

  8. Hello,

I'm hoping this is the right place for my first thread on this forum.

I started reading it a few weeks ago, since I decided my next car would be GS300. I have recently visited Lexus Woodford and chose the car I like. I'll be picking it up early next week - already getting excited.

Now, I have a few worries or - rather - questions. It's a 4-year old car but only has done 22k miles. I have read on the Lexus website how many checks they do etc. for approved cars - can I trust it? Do dealers adhere to these guidelines or shall I do an independent chec... I'm especially concerned about potential accident history, mileage etc.

One more thing. I noticed a small rusty spot at the end of the right wheel arch - where the wing "touches" the front bumper. Surprisingly, another vehicle I considered had a similar problem. My previous car had a few rusty patches that spread from tiny spots and I'm not keen to see it on my new car. Is this something that may become an issue? I asked a few times about it but was assured that "you don't see rusty Lexuses around as they are perfectly protected so this won't grow". Any comments from more experienced owners...?

Is there anything else I should pay special attention to? Any other tips, typical problems etc. before I collect it?

Any help will be much appreciated.

    S.
