  1. Can anyone help, my mirror switch has stopped working on the l/h/s it started to fail then would work again, after a few months now its stopped all together, the mirror on the right side still works, I phoned Lexus but they want £70 plus vat for the switch, anyone know where to get one from?

Don't buy anything until you have proved the fault is the switch and not something in the mirror-assembly (jammed gearing or poor connection to motor etc.)

well i don't believe it my mirror has come back to life, you was so right, i sprayed a load of ac 90 behind the mirror due to not knowing how to take it apart and now everything works great, moves in all directions, thanks for that.
  2. For what it is worth, I have found that the wrecking yards (do you call them the same thing in the UK?) are a GREAT resource for issues like this and would strongly recommend that avenue for your trouble shooting.

During the development of installation manuals for the Po-40 Folding Mirror Kit, I found there was a ready and (comparatively) cheap availability of mirror assemblies and mirror switch assemblies. I paid about 100 pounds for the complete mirror and windows switch assembly (and associated harness) off the 2010 IS250.

FYI: We have discovered four different wiring processes for the mirror functions for the IS200d/IS250 range. We could not have mapped our installation processes for the Folding Mirror Switch without the wreck parts.

Here in Sydey (Australia) there are a few wreckers that specialise euther in Lexus or in premium cars. I'm sure local board members would be able to direct you to similar establishments in the UK and Europe.

nice one thanks for that, we call the a scrap yard, not sure there are many over here that would have Lexus is in for braking but I will have a look around.

I'm sure its the switch due to when I go from right to left the switch is loose and there is no click, it all started when I would tilt the left mirror down to see into my garage, the car does not have the auto reverse tilt on it, when I would bring the car out the mirror would not come back up but would move left and right, after a few attemps it would work but it got worse and worse to were now it doesn't work at all, I tried to take the switch apart but only got so far in fear of braking it, I phoned Lexus up but they want £67 plus vat
  4. if you race, tow heavy loads, or do short drives when the engine doesn't warm up at all, then it makes sense to change it after 6 months, but otherwise I don't think it is worth.

Manufacturers recommendation is 30.000km or 2 years, so doing it after 15.000kms/1 year is very reasonable.

Thats a good point Matus, think I will stick to 12 month, is it worth taking it to the dealers for the annual service or is to dear??

  5. I've just bought an '08 plate IS220D with 62K and I'm getting the same plus a crunch into third gear sometimes. The whole gear linkage seems too loose for my liking! Do you notice a chattering/chriping noise when idling which then goes away when you press the clutch? Try it at night when it's quiet. I am having a new clutch installed next week when I get my Head Gasket problem addressed. Hopefully this will cure it, otherwise it could be the master/slave cylinder, clutch fork or pivot ball, linkage or the gearbox itself :-(

Coming from super reliable, if hard riding Hondas', it's disapointing.

Sounds like you have your hands full there Chuckie, To be honest I haven't had any of those issuse it was just first to second, I have just put it down to not being use to a diesel, tried it today and just took my time with trhe gear changes and it all seemed ok, good luck with yours though fella, I will keep you informed if I hear anything else though.

  6. Can some one give me some advise please, I have only just bought an is220d with 34000 on the clock, the car is lovely through out and as yet I have no complaints except the norm, MPG, 6th gear to name only a few but I have noticed that 1st to 2nd gear some time goes in with a thud not all the time but on occasions, I have put it down to trying to pull off at junctions to quick what do you think???
