  1. Many will know (particularly TigerFish) that I have almost rebuilt my Lexus Sports and grateful thanks to all who have added postings.

Just one thing left mechanically that I can't fix because I can't locate it, where oh where is the washer pump (and I guess a seperate reservoir) for the headlamp washers?? I can not for the life of me locate the damnded thing unless maybe it feeds off the same unit as the windscreen washers?

    Sound System: -

I have had no luck whatsoever in locating a cd cartridge for the boot mounted cd multichanger unit so, does anybody know of any compatible retrofit units that use exactly the same wiring connections as the original?

  2. Agree with Steve, leave the Air con on all the time, I just set the temperature I want and leave it, I have had a few different makes of cars but for some reason the Lexus mists up more than any other, the only other thing I can think of is that there seems to be a lot of filters in these cars for this that and the other, but not sure if there one for the air con or if that would even make any difference.

Good luck and let us no if you find any cure

Thanks Wendle, yes, agree about the filters and certainly worthy of further investigation.

For definite when (and I will!) source and finally fix this irritating problem I will be sure to let you know the findings.

    Regards

    Steve

  3. definately sounds like moisture is coming in somewhere. Might be worth checking down the sides of the boot where the sunroof drain pipes pass through the plastic vents (the vents go through the body panels but behind the bumper, so only visible from inside the boot). The pipe(s) can come adrift and the water could end up not draining through the vents. Is the aircon working ok?

Once again many thanks for your reply Tigerfish, this is definitely worth checking out so very many thanks.

    Yes, aircon is working fine

  4. Hi Steve, Would suggest there's definately damp in the car somewhere. Have you checked the boot....i know when i leave my wet golf stuff in the boot the windows are all misted up the following morning? Also be worth ventilating the car. On a nice day with the sun out drive with windows open or when parked up leave windows and boot open for a few hours (if thats possible security wise).

    Guardy

    Thanks Guardy,

I hear what you are saying and it is totally logical but I am totally confident that the whole inside of the car, including the boot area is bone dry, this said I am prepared to do anything now so thanks for your suggestions.....all I need now is one of those rare nice days when the sun actually does shine!!

  5. Hi everyone, its me again with yet another quirky fault on the recently purchased Lexus GS300 Sports; When delivered on Christmas Eve there was condensation on all the interior glass which we thought nothing of, putting this down to the valet it had undergone prior to delivery. 3+ weeks later we still have the condensation and logic dictates this can only happen for two reasons, the first being that the inside of the car is still damp (which it is not!) or, for some strange reason (hence this post) that when the fan is switched on the air being brought into the car is damp subsequently causing the condensation.

Has anyone come across this before?

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what may be causing this?

    Many thanks once again.

    Regards

    Steve

  6. Apologies for my late response, I have been out of the country on business.

I bought the car as a runaround for my wife and it was only supplied with one key which fits the doors and the ignition, it does not fit either the internal boot lock barrel inside next to the boot release lever and neither does it fit the external boot barrel.

I inadvertently depressed the internal barrel lock and now can not release this and open the boot!

What I am trying to avoid is having to strip out the lower portion of the dash in order to gain access to the lock barrel and subsequently release the machanism, this I am assuming would be fairly labour intensive.

I have now located the alloy wheel centres but many thanks for the lead.

If you do have a spare cd cartridge in your garage I would appreciate doing some form of deal on this as I do not expect a "freebie" so please let me know how much you would like for the unit plus P&P to Chorley, Lancashire.

    Many Thanks

    Steve

  7. I think everyone has covered the boot really. Your ignition key should turn the little barrel by the boot and petrol cap release levers. When turned, the barrel should pop out slightly, and the lever will work again. What key do you start the car with? It doesn't fit the boot lock on the boot lid itself or the lever lock?

I may have a cd cartridge knocking about in the garage. I'll have a look tomorrow.

For the alloy centre caps, try sending a personal message to user ACLex, I bought 4 from him recently for my spare set of alloys, I'm sure he will have some left.

  8. Hi all, might seem like a couple of dumb questions but really need to find some answers here;

    1. Is there any possible way to open the boot without having the actual key and this also includes the key for the lock mechanism on the RH underside of the dash? I really don't want to have to strip out the dash if there is a much easier and less labour intensive way?

    2. Is anyone aware of where it may be possible to purchase the cd cartridge only for a 1996 GS300 Sports Auto? I've tried numerous Lexus breaker yards, E Bay, amazon, Auto Trader, etc but no luck!

IF this is a rather pointless exercise then I am also prepared to but the complete cd multichanger unit but does anyone know of anywhere that offers good value for money?

    Many Thanks

  9. Hi all,

    We bought a Lexus GS300 only a few weeks back for a runaround for the wife and with a car of its age (1996) expected a few problems, most of which have been ironed out however, one still exists;

Can anyone please tell me how to open the boot as I am unable to use the lock mechanism next to the boot release lever due to having no key.

Is this a partial under dash strip out or is there (hopefully) an easier way??

Also, if anyone can provide me with leads to purchase 2 of the original alloy wheel "centres" and a cd cartridge for the boot mounted cd multi-changer I would be extremely grateful.

    Many Thanks

  10. Wanted Urgently for a 1996 GS 300 Sports: -

2 x original alloy wheel "centres"

Internal CD cartridge for original, boot mounted 6cd multi-changer

Please let me know the respective prices plus P&P charges ASAP or, if within 50 miles of Chorley (Lancashire) costs only.

    Many Thanks
