  1. Good news, thanks very much to a fellow forum user, Ive purchased a couple of bulbs off eBay for £25 and fitted them myself.

Just shows you what an absolute rip off these garages are.

I could change them every year for 10 years and still have a fiver change!

Dont be put off by the covers over the engine, in essence, all youve got to do is remove the engine covers and airbox (and ram air), take out the bolt for the washer bottle. I reckon once youve done it and got over the learning curve you can replace both bulbs in 20 minutes.

So, working on the quote of £255.05 from the Toyota garage (darent approach a Lexus dealer) and using simple maths, say £55.05 labour (that still equates to £165.15/hr, assuming you can do it in 20 minutes) that leaves £100.00 for each of the bulbs!!

This is where I got the bulbs from:

And this is the video to watch:

The video is in two parts and shows you how to convert the headlights from normal tungsten halogen to HID but itll show you how to get to the bulbs to change them.

  2. Cheers,

Been quoted £255 by the local Toyota dealer.

I just need to know the correct code if any body knows it?

Seen H11 on one web site but is that correct does any body know?

    Cheers.

If you have reasonable DIY skills the job is not that difficult and don't buy the replacement bulb from Lexus there are OEM quality ones available for a lot less.

have a look at this thread for details of HIDS4U

  3. Thanks Tony, I assume this is not a DIY job then?

Ive got an IS 250 SE-L Auto with the Xeon type headlights.

I have an intermittent problem where sometimes neither headlight works or only one comes on. If I stop, switch the headlights off, turn the ignition off, switch the engine back on, turn the headlights back on it clear the problem.

Anybody experienced this? If so whats the fix?

    Cheers.

I had the same problem with my IS220D. The headlight would work for a while then stop. When you turned it off/on it would work again. I thought it would be the ballast overheating but the Lexus technician told me that it was an acknowledged problem and something to do with the gas in the bulb itself. I reluctantly replaced the bulb costing something like £120.00 and it did cure the problem.

    Cheers

    Tony

  4. Cheers Allan, I'll have a look at the fuses, fingers crossed.

    Gary.

I had the same problem, tought that the ballast was bad.

Also tried with a new xenon bulbs, but still right side didnt work as it should.

But when I changed both xenon-headlight fuses problem was solved.

With an eye the fuse seemed perfectly fine, but I decided to change it anyway..and like magic the headlight turned on right away. 3 months later still works fine.

So its worth to try, it can be simple as that.

    Allan
