Does the valuation cover the cost of replacing the car, like for like? That is, can you find a vehicle advertised for sale at that valuation? That surely has to be the 'acid' test of market value?
You would think so but even on the Financial Ombudsman website it says they don't normally use adverts to decide whether a valuation is fair.

Thanks for the info, I've already hit the end of any negotiations over valuation with the insurers. The Glass's guide price they are sticking by is lower than every online valuation service I have tried, and significantly lower than AutoTrader list prices. So I was hoping to be able to get access to Glass's myself in order to check what range of prices it provides and what inputs it allows.

Hi,
It's a bit of a long shot but wondered if anybody here had access to the Glass's guide? According to the Glass's website it seems you cannot access it directly unless you are a business.
I would like to verify the Glass's price of my IS250 that was recently determined a total loss due to storm damage.
Thanks
Alex

I've recently purchased an IS200 Sport which has gold badges all round. These aren't really to my taste so I'm going to change them for the normal silver ones.
Does anybody have a picture of an IS200 where the rear badges either side have been removed, and just the centre badge left?

What's a DMF?
Dual mass flywheel

After driving it this morning it seems much worse in the cold. Doesn't matter if I accelerate fast or slow, it's jerky until the revs get higher.

Hi,
This weekend I purchased a 2002 IS200 Sport with 65k on the clock.
I've noticed a couple of issues with it so far, which from searching on this forum could be related to the DMF.
1) Changing from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd to 3rd gear can be quite clunky and a bit notchy. It's less of a problem if I change gear slowly.
2) When pulling off I get a slight judder. This doesn't happen if I rev it higher when pulling off.
3) When driving slowly in lows gears at low revs the car is jerky as if it's misfiring. It's fine if I drive it flat out though.
Does this sound like problems with the DMF?
I do have a 3-month warranty with the car but I imagine it would be fairly difficult to get them to make a big repair like this when it hasn't completely failed.
Help / advise regarding shock / springs.

I recently enquired on the cost of replacing front shocks at a Lexus dealer and they quoted £355 per side (fitted, incl. VAT), which didn't sound too bad to me.
Are the rear shocks more expensive than this?
