That is fair enough, but the problem I see here is that Carplay can be easily retrofitted (like £300 GROM or even new Lexus head-unit which would be plug&play), Premium sat-nav and audio can't be easily retrofitted. But good shout on transferable warranty, so in case of change you would not lose it.

I assume the newer lexus plug and play head unit you memtioned is not an option on my 2018??

  2. It turns out the RC300h i bought from a dealership at the weekend only has the standard entertainment system although it was advertised as having lexus premium navigation system. Ive contacted the dealership and they have agreed i have been missold but the manager i spoke to was unsure what he could do about it. I am awating a call back from the manager as he said he needs to speak to a service engineer to see if its possible to upgrade the unit to premium. Does anyone know if this is actually possible? Thanks

  3. Good morning . I traded in my Is300h for an 18 plate RC300h yesterday and absolutely love it. I do have a few issues however.  DAB radio permanently says no signal, voice assistant says " no voice notes set" when I press the button and there is no options in setup/voice menu to train voice. Also has anyone hardwired a dash cam? I need a permanent live but the power outlet fuse seems to go off with ignition. Any ideas? TIA👍

  4. Hi guys,

Long time no post. Can anyone please tell me which lexus these wheels come from ? I bought them second hand from my local lexus dealership about 3 years ago. I first had them on my is250 then on my is300h but I've just traded that in for an rc300h which has nineteens and these are 18 so I'm looking to sell them . But I would like to know what they are off originally so I can list them as such. I remember when I first got them I found them on a genuine lexus parts site for over a grand but so I'm sure they are genuine lexus but I can't for the life of me find them again . Any suggestions 👍👍

  5. Good morning all. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of the cheaper front lip spoilers and boot spoilers ? I'm looking to get both (15 plate f-sport) but don't want to spend a fortune on carbon ones. I'm not really fussed about the finish because I'm probably going to wrap them anyway but would like a more factory look and fit. Cheers 👍

P.s what are the options for lowering ? Springs ? Coilovers?

Paul. How have you hardwired your nextbase? Did you use a genuine nextbase hardwire kit or a copy/universal?

I have the 322GW in my is250. When I bought it I also got a none genuine hardwire kit. That kit was a waste of money and got sent back. I then bought a genuine nextbase one and all is fine and dandy.

Look in your handbook in the fuses section and find one which is 10 amps and ignition powered on. Aircon, sunroof is the one I use.

Its the genuine next base one . I originally fuse tapped into the sunroof fuse but my car Battery ran flat twice if left for more than 2 days so I wanted to put it into an ignition live but like my original post says all the fuses seem to be preminantly live . Even the ones that control things that don't work without the ignition on i.e the cigarette lighter . Its all very weird. I'm on leave now so I'll have a little more time to investigate. I have the 422gw and the rear view cam aswell but I'm not impressed at all . I bought it essentially for parking mode hence the need for perminant live but it's so random. Some days I'll check the footage from through the night and it's full of protected 30 clips and fills the SD card, and other days nothing whatsoever . I even got to my car this morning to find a note in the windscreen that's someone had left about me being parked outside their house and the cam didn't even detect it.

It must be faulty then. The whole reason for the voltage sensing circuit to exist is to turn off the camera at a certain threshold so that it doesn't flatten the car battery.

If you're sure of your wiring then I'd be returning it for a new one.

I'm wondering if the voltage it's set at is ok for regular cars but no good for hybrids with a smaller Battery ? I think it's 11.4v.

I've not seen a hardwire kit with such a feature, so thanks for the photo.

Not all dash cameras with parking mode have a voltage sensor either. In fact it was a rarity when I fitted mine (albeit a number of years ago now) to have such a feature. I basically had a choice of a Blackvue with a £200 add on, or a Thinkware with it built in.

I'm sure the trickle down of technology means it's built into more cameras now, but is it common? I am not so sure.

The voltage sensor is in the hardwire kit not the camera but like I said , even with that fitted mine has flattened my Battery twice now. So frustrating .

Dashcams are designed to come on with the ignition and go off (or into parking mode if it has one) when the ignition is turned off, so you definitely need a supply that is only live when the ignition is on.

How are you testing for power?

I ask because in most Lexus cars the cigarette lighter is only powered when the ignition is on, so that fuse is a perfect choice for a dashcam. It's also the reason why you can't plug a solar charger into the cig lighter because with ignition off, there's no path for the output of the charger to get to the battery.

The manual for the nextbase hardwire kit says you can use a perminant live . This is because the cams internal Battery doesn't last very long so there is a risk of missing footage if the Battery on the cam dies whilst the car is off. As for the cigarette lighter , that was my whole point , I'm testing the fuse for it with a multimeter at the fuse box and it stays live even with the ignition off even though the cigarette lighter is not powered . Its like the ignition power cut off for it is between the lighter and the fuse somewhere and not at the fuse itself.

  10. I recently purchased a nextbase front and rear dash cam and hardwired it to a permenant live in the fuse box (sunroof fuse as I don't have a sunroof), but two weekends running after the car was sat for 2 days it flattened my Battery and the car wouldn't start. So i now want to try an ignition live but all the fuses seem to show perminant live at the fusebox even if the accessory isn't preminantly live , cigarette lighter for example . Has anyone had any experience with this ? Cheers

  11. Thanks for the reply, nice car , loving the black grille. Like i said i'm not entirely sure what it all means but i was under the impression i could just get a different offset to make the edge of the rim come out closer to the wheel arch rather than getting wider rims, i may be completely wrong though ??  I don't really want to change the width from standard as i've just put new Eagle F1's all round and they will be going on the new rims.

  12. Hey everyone, as the title says i have once again returned to the fold with my forth Lexus :) . I bought a 2007 IS250 SE-L about  6 months ago and i'm in the market for some new rims. It currently has 18's ( i think they are standard not sure though) but i want to get some new gloss black 18's . i have no idea how the whole offset thing works but i have gleaned from research that these are the standard sizes  Front 8Jx18 ET45 Rear 8.5Jx18 ET50. but i want to bring the wheels out a bit so instead of buying 5mm spacers and longer studs can i just get a different offset for the same effect and use the standard studs? If yes could someone please advise as to what size i would need ? and would this cause any problems if i get the BC coilovers i'm also planning later on? And lastly any recommendations for rims that suit the is250?  Cheers peeps :) Ahhhhh it's good to be back.

  13. Hi. my car is overheating and I'm not sure why. I've had the thermostat out and tested it and it opened at 90 degrees so that seems fine, my fan is working so that's not the problem. but another strange thing is even when the water in the system is really hot my heater doesn't blow warm air. any ideas? Also how do you bleed the cooling system? Thanks
