To my knowledge the 5 mph increment is the same across the world for Lexus vehicles apart from some specific countries. Certainly owners manuals in the US state the same as UK in this regard and people on forums ask the same questions.

5 mph increments if adaptive cruise is enabled.

    From the manual:

“In the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, the set speed will be increased or decreased as follows:

     For Europe

Fine adjustment: By 5 km/h (3.1 mph) *1 or 5 mph (8 km/h) *2 each time the lever is operated Large adjustment: Increases or decreases in 5 km/h (3.1 mph) *1 or 5 mph (8 km/h) *2 increments for as long as the lever is held

     Except for Europe

Fine adjustment: By 1 km/h (0.6 mph) *1 or 1 mph (1.6 km/h) *2 each time the lever is operated Large adjustment: Increases or decreases in 5 km/h (3.1 mph) *1 or 5 mph (8 km/h) *2 increments for as long as the lever is held”

Oh Wally, Wally, Wally...the thing is, quite a lot of us on here manage to use Techstream without any problems at all.

It's not rocket science mate. I presume that you know that you live in Europe so you should choose that as the region. Your profile says that you have an RX450h, so if you go to the back of the car and the badge confirms it, enter that into Techstream as the model and so on. Eventually you'll be able to interrogate the Radar Cruise Control and tell us what you find and if you can alter the speed increments.

As I said, we'll just wait here for you

Oh Herbie, Herbie, Herbie…the thing is you clearly don’t know what a Techstream model code is do you. And, your point about setting the region to where you live suggests you don’t know a lot about how to get-around defaults and maybe change settings that aren’t designed for Europe etc.

Why bother commenting when you have nothing useful to contribute?

The question has been fully answered in the second and third post.

The question was “Does anyone know if it's possible to change the fine speed adjust on the cruise control via Techstream?”

The 3rd post doesn’t answer the question, it simply restates what we already know: “Default radar cruise control is in increments of 5mph…”.

As this 5mph increment is DIFFERENT from the 1mph increment used everywhere else in the world outside of Europe, asking about whether it is possible to change the UK setting to the setting used elsewhere via Techstream seems like a legitimate and (for many) important question.

Why are people on this forum so quick to misinterpret questions and rationalise the irrational?

All selectable by yourself, so just plug in your own details and off you go. We'll just wait here while you find the answer.

The thing about a lot of variables is that they lead to a lot of permutations, and the thing about Techstream is that it’s slow and cumbersome, particularly with a laptop balanced on your lap…so do one.

Despite having been provided with an answer more than once, you keep asking the same question. we are clearly a bunch of dunces to thick to provide the required answer. Perhaps you should use tech stream yourself to find out the answer and educate the rest of us.

    Looking forward to the answer.

Really? Show me where someone has answered the question about the +/- 5 mph increments for the radar controlled cruise control.
PS: I have used techstream myself but there are a lot of variables that might determine the answer to my question (such as version of TS, region setting for TS, model codes, options, and so on). You really are a forum stereotype.

  6. Hate to break up the party of people queueing up to poo poo the idea that there might be anything irritating or dangerous about a cruise control that can only increase or decrease a car’s speed in 5mph increments, does anyone know the answer to the original question?

That is, is it possible to change this setting so that it matches what everyone outside of Europe gets (which is 1mph increments)?

As quoted above not if you are using Adaptive Cruise Control, switch to normal cruise control and you get 1mph increments. If you want a particular speed (say 68mph), switch on the ACC and accelerate to the required speed and set. It will them hold that speed. I use it this way most of the time.

Why is it insanely dangerous and stupid? Never had any problem using it.

Bear in mind that everywhere else in the world gets 1 mph increments for ACC. So Lexus chose to do this for Europe only. Also, every other car in the world uses 1 mph/kph increments.

If I’m driving in a 50 avg speed zone for 20 miles and I want to gently overtake someone (as happens all the time), I don’t want to jump to 55mph in one flick. In fact, that’s insane, stupid, and dangerous.

Yes Luigi here in the UK on the DRCC you can higher or lower your MPH in increments of 5mph. That was a suprise to me having never driven a vehicle with DRCC i thought it would have been like any other vehicle in the normal cruise set up when you press the plus or minus button it would move by 1 mph.

This 5 mph/kph increment thing is a crazy & downright dangerous Europe only “feature’”. Everyone else gets the sensible 1 mph increments. Toyota obviously misread an EU law.
