My GS300 (98) exhaust manifold has finally dropped to pieces . My question is, seeing one or two threads about stainless steel custome manifolds, will omitting the cat affect the sensors? Ive managed to pin point a system in the states for about £300 complete with the various mounting points for the sensors but Id like a second opinion if possible. Thanks.

Sorry that should read 98.

Thanks to a brick being flicked from a skip wagon wheel through my sunroof, I now have to replace the glass on my 97 GS. Has anybody done this before? and if so is it a head liner removal or can it be done with it in place.? Thanks

The front twin pipe on my 98 Gs has just blown. My question is , is this part of the manifold ( I've trawled around the site but cant find a sketch of the front, only the centre and back boxes) or is this in fact an exhaust part? If so is anybody aware of any alternative suppliers around? Whats annoying is I've just had the rest of the exhaust replaced about 2 months ago and the front section looked and sounded solid!

It passed Im pleased to say!

Thanks Steve. Too late to fix it now so we will see how the test goes and then tackle it.

My GS mk 2 has developed a buzz with a kicking in the pedal at low speeds, not all the time and only really when coming to a halt. Im lead to believe that its the detector ring cracked on the axle. Is this a big job to fix? or can it be tackled by a reasonable home mechanic (IE - me with a bit help!) More to the point is this a MOT failure? as its just started doing this today and its going in for its MOT tomorrow.

Ive just noticed a weeping on what looks like a seal (gasket type fillting?) around the top of the radiator. It only happens when the system is hot and pressurised . My question is - is this a common problem and is it repairable ( Ive been quoted £73 for a new radiator anyway and fitting doesnt look like too much of a challange)

OK the bulb on the front driver side (indicator) has blown, so off to Halfords for a new one. Did I need to get halfords to change it - no thanks Im capable of that meanial task thank you very much
Except..... Ive managed to get the large terminal box loose at the back of the lightand clear of the fitting however what happens next I have no idea . What do you do next - I cant feel any clips to unspring or turn ?
Because it was totally the wrong fitting I was trying to loosen so back down to Halfords paid 3 quid and got it fitted and shown how to do it myself the next time. Result.

Ive recently bought a GS300SE , the care is in good condition apart from the fact its last owner smoked. Not only is the interior of the car smelling but the drivers mirror is discoloured in one of the corners (new lense on order). Ive given the car a good clean out including the headlining , interior lights and switches and the smell has eased a quite bit - strangley enough the boot was by far the worst - it was foul.
Apart from getting it professionaly valeted ,which is next on my list, Im wondering if its worth changing the pollen filter?
Anybody got any other ideas?

Thanks everybody, I was having major problems joining the forum , mainly with that question and once in could not find the county I'm in. Anyway, few words of introduction. Just bought my first Lexus after years of company cars being forced upon me and I've got to say its easily the best car Ive ever owned dispite its age.

Hello everybody , managed to get on here at last. Proud owner of a 98 GS3000 as from 4.30 today. Hope I dont have many technical question to ask ( it is a Lexus after all) Just a word to admin , a banana is a herb not a fruit and Tyne and Wear is a county of England.

Right just to add to the site knowledge, the sunroof seems to be only available from breakers as a complete cassette however the galss is only held in with about 4 screws - thus avoiding removing the head lining ect. A local auto glass repair company (AP windscreens ) did the job in half an hour and only charge me 40 quid!
