  1. Hi

I have had a Lexus 430 for some 8 years now, and up until last week the only problem i had was a front parking sensor go. Unfortunatley last week i had to have 2 air suspension height sensors replaced, but me being me decided to have all 4 replaced just in case the other 2 go wrong as it seems to be a common problem and a service, but managed to negotiate a fairly good deal which i was happy with. As has been said if the warranty covers everything apart from wear and tear go for it you will not regret it.

  2. The LS460 is a seriously good second hand buy now they are under £25k. I am wondering if I should buy one, would I like it as much as the GS though?

Definatley go and drive one you will not regret it,the comfort levels etc on an LS far outways any other vehicle in the lexus line up. I have had a few other vehicles out on loan when mine has been in for servicing etc, Rx's, Gs's, even the smaller ones, and i have to say once a LS owner always a LS owner. I have always said that i would keep to the Lexus LS range, if possible, without even looking at another manufacturer.

    I hope this helps.

    Happy Hunting

  3. Hi George,

thanks for reply, I have just bought the 430 so have not got round to updating profile.

ok, this car seems particularly problematic filling up with regards to any car I have ever owned, as you say all pumps are different, and moving the nozzle can make a difference in certain circumstances, however, cutting out is very rare in my experience (32yrs and 15 cars later inc 2x LS400'S motor bikes etc.). just chuck the nozzle in any old how and away you go fill up(again no joke intended) car is under warranty (lexus) so need lots of opinions in case a problem exists.

    regards CDX

    Hi CDX

Will be interesting to see what lexus have to say on the matter as the car is under a lexus warranty, i might mention this to lexus myself, as i have to pay them a visit later today due to the car being booked in because of height sensor failure, and due a service.

Will report back if they say anything.

    Regards.

    George.

  4. Hi all,

anybody had any problems filling up a 430 (excluding jokes about cost of petrol etc.etc.) filling mine is problematic with regards to the fuel pump cutting out,the fuel pump nozzle needs to be just so (as to it's position in the filler neck) to prevent this cutting out problem, it's as if there's a vent problem causing a back up pressure which stops the pump.

    regards CDX

    Hi

You say filling up a 430, and i notice your vehicles are 400's, i don't have any experience with the 400 range, but i have a 430 and do not experience problems filling mine up.You are probably aware of this, but underneath the fuel pump nozzle is a small hole, this is the cut off so to speak. In the past on other vehicles i have found that the cut off cuts in, and slows down the filling time, (i have found different pumps tend to work differently than others, why i don't know) but i have found if you turn the nozzle around slightly this seems to cure the problem, also slightly moving it out from the filler neck will work as well. I think at the end of the day filler necks are all differnt shapes, and sizes, and also as i mentioned earlier the pumps seem to work differently.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I test drove a LS460SE-L a few weeks ago, and i have to say this Park Assist function is the bees knees.

I have forgotten how many times i have witnessed people trying to park, and completely mess it up only to pull away again, and try and park some where else. Where this come in very handy is the fact not only does it get you in to the spot, it can, and will work out if the car will get in, if it cannot it will not move (on assist), and secondly when it manoeveures into the space you are the right distance from the kerb which means "Hey Presto"............no wheel scuffs, and iv'e lost count on the times i have caught mine, along with a lot of other drivers if they are truthful. The only drawback i can see is that it takes a little bit of time to set up, and if you are trying to park on a busy road no doubt you could cause a tailback, apart from that a genius piece of engineering, so brilliant you can now have it on the new ford focus i believe, and no doubt many more manufacturers will follow suit.

    George.

What did you think of the 460 as a car, nice to drive, stereo ect? I was thinking of looking at one as they are becoming quite a bargain.

    Hi

Lovely car to drive, if you want all the goodies on the vehicle make sure it is the 460SE-L, lower models do not come with Auto Park Assist, ACC Protection and a few other things. The only thing i would say is the transmission could be slightly smoother, but the difference in power compared to my 430 is a lot more considering the 460 is only 300cc more. The stereo has 19 speakers compared to my system which has 11, but to be fair did not listen to it on the test drive.I wonder how the 600 would perform, very quick i would imagine even though they all achieve 155mph between them.

Your right in what you say, they are becoming a bargain, i would of probably bought the one i tested but the mrs had other ideas ......dohhhh......LOL

In my opinion you are looking in the right direction i don't think you can go wrong with these cars, but you did not mention what car you drive at the moment, but if you buy one make sure you have deep pockets, cos like ladies they take a lot of looking after :whistling:

    Good luck in your search

  6. Welcome to the LOC even better to have another LS owner lol.

When you say the height sensors have seized are you refering to the sensors themselves or the linkages that connect the suspension to the sensors, reason I ask is that the linkages do seize and occasionally break.

    http://evansweb.info/2009/11/23/ls400-ride-height-sensor-repair

    Morning Steve,

As Far as i am aware it is the height sensors, lexus themselves did a diagnostic check etc, and this is what it showed......Retrieved DTCs C1714-Rear height control sensor LH + C1751- continuous current to compressor. On visual inspection found n/s/f + o/s/r sensors seized, unable to adjust. New Sensors required.

    SENSOR SUB ASSY L89407-50060

    SENSOR,HEIGHT L89408-50060

I was miffed with all of that, but there you are we drive these limos, so we have to expect to put them right should they go wrong which thankfully isn't a lot, so long as they are seviced regularly, having said that the car is 7 years old and hasn't done 50000 mls yet, but this is the only problem i have had.

Still would not get rid of, unless it was for a 460SE-L, OR A 600, LoL

  8. Hi All,

Just thought i would pop in and say hello to everyone, as i just joined today, and have been looking around the various posts, and have to say found it all very interesting especially the topic ref Height Sensors. I was extremely interested in that one, purely because my car is going in to have 4 of these replaced on friday due to the o/s/r and n/s/f sensors seized, and have taken the opportunity to have all 4 done at the same time. I will say this was my choice to have 4 replaced and not the dealership who reported only 2 had seized, and as i am having a service at the same time got a very good discount on the lot, plus it makes sense to have all four done cos you never know when the other 2 could pack up, which knowing my luck, is highly probable lol

I will let you know how it goes

    George
