yeah thats what im trying to do but the metal is so tough it just wont bite, i may just get a welder under there and weld in 2 studs and then i can bolt the shocks to them :)
-
finally got the buggers out, drilled them out but now cant get the bloody tap thing to grip to make the new thread, stressed.com
-
Thats what i used but the bolt itself was siezed solid so wouldnt budge, beleive me there were a few :tsktsk: words lol
-
thanks for the reply, i tried to drill and extract the bolt but it was stuck solid so im going to just drill the whole thing out and then use a tap/die set to make a new one

Hi i have only had my is200 a few days now and the pass side spring has snapped, took it to a garage and they said the shock is no good either and the drivers side spring and shock could also do with replacing
I found someone breaking a low mileage car on eBay and have got 2 x rear springs and shocks on there way so i thought id get started and remove the old shocks... here comes the problem lol
While removing the shocks using this very helpfull guide i found on this site ( see us newbies can use the search button :P )
http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge/index.php?page=index_v2&id=55&c=5
I managed to shear both the bolts that hold the strut to the inner arch pictured below (not my pic but one from above tutorial)
how important are these can they be left off
if not and they need to be there for safety how do i go about removing the thread thats left in the inner arch as all i have left of the bolt is the heads that snapped off
many thanks for any help
